- TeodoroSimilar to System Mechanic Scam. Threatened to turn off software....I gave him the line from "The Count of Monte Cristo"...'go ahead...do your worst.". Then I hung up and blocked the spoofed number. For fun, stupid questions are always in order, like "how tall are you" How much was your latest electric bill? Do you have a black or brown dog?... think of your own...fun, fun, fun....or ask an imaginary nearby person..."Did you get the trace yet?"

- SG replies to David B.I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent telling me that they're from DELL. He said that they've been trying to update my security system and it has been rejected. I asked how could I trust him. He said that there's a code stored on my computer and he can read it to me to check see it's the same code on my computer. He told me to run cmd which I did and then he asked me to type a command at the c:/ prompt. A script run. there were a lot of lines. On one of them which I can't remember the label, there was a very long code that he could read it to me. We continued and I was about to allow him to control my computer when he asked me how old was my computer. I got suspicious that if he's from DELL knows my computer and the code that they've stored somewhere how come he does not know how old is my computer! I powered off my computer and hang up!

- JimI have received 5 calls in three days from 888-224-0966 saying they are from System Mechanic. They have been trying to update my computer since November but they are blocked. Asked me if I have a problem. Told them nope I threw that computer away (never clarified which computer). They asked if it could be updated. Told them yeah go to the dump and do what they want. Then asked if I had other devices. They wanted to update them. Nope. I have not used System Mechanic in 5 years. SCAM. Heavy accent as from India/Middle Eastern person.

- Midwest LudditeRabid persistant caller who is barely understandable in English. Background noise of a call center during call. Claimed my computer was compromised. I claimed that I had recently converted and became a Luddite and no longer owned a computer. Seems to have stumped her for a bit, but expect calls will return.

- Jthese people have been calling for about 4 mos. claiming to be System Mechanic with security concerns. I asked to be contacted by email only and hung up. When they called again I said to take my name off all of their lists and that "the lawyer had been made aware of this caller/ number" and he immediately hung up. I thought I was rid off him until yesterday when he stated how serious this was and that I could wind up "behind the bars." I said I liked bars and hung up. No longer answering calls from this number
