- BarbReceived a call from 888-224-0966 at 11:58am today and again at 5:42pm on Sunday, 1-13-19. The first caller was female with an Indian accent claiming she was from Google. I immediately asked her not to call me again and hung up the phone. The second caller was male with an Indian accent. He claimed that someone from Amsterdam was trying to hack my email by attempting to log in 15 times with different passwords. I live in the United States. I need to go to my Windows screen in the lower left corner, type run, type CMD, OK and then type ASSOC. He also provided a 34 digit id number that he claimed Microsoft assigned to me. If I typed in this command I would see this id number he gave me. I typed the run command, typed CMD for command and OK but DID NOT type ASSOC because I am not familiar with this command. I googled the phone number and all comments state this is a phone scam to get access to my computer. I told him I was hanging up and proceeded to hang up.

- SherlockCalled once...I looked the number up here and read everyone's comments. They called back so I answered because from the comments above I knew they were not going to leave me alone until I did. The guy on the other end told me he was with Hewlett Packard and that someone was trying get into my email so I asked why Hewlett Packard was calling me. His response was that Google had contacted them because Google does not make phone calls. So I mentioned that I had 3 problems with the call 1) I did not receive any Google notifications about someone hacking my account 2) I don't own any HP products and 3) I do not own a computer (I really don't our computer, a Lenovo, broke about 2 months ago and we have been going without) before I finished this sentence he hung up on me.

- Kim| 2 repliesRcvd call from 8882240966 that hung up b4 my answer machine and then called again. It's a very close # to something I do pick up on, so I answered. Man with Indian accent, who knew my name, said my Google Gmail had been hacked and the password had been changed 5x in the last 3 days. Since I know for a fact this is untrue, I told him so. He called me a liar. I laughed at him. I said please stop calling innocent people & trying to trick them. I hung up and blocked the call.

- Kim replies to Kim| 1 replyThis is in reference to my post. As I later went through my Gmail, I found, in my SPAM folder 5 or 6 phishing emails. They attempted to make it look like Google Security was warning me that someone in Moscow, Russia & (2 were from Mumbai, India) were attempting to sign in to my email. It was asking me, IS this you ? Not you? & wanted me to click a box. Problem was, I KNEW IT REALLY WASN'T from Google Security, & this is how...When I clicked to open the details of who sent this email, it read like a mixed up Sesame Street drop out. A string of 20 cap & small letters & numbers plus all these unknown address were also listed. I'm fortunate I have great virus software & strong DIFFERENT passwords for almost everything. So that's why it was in my SPAM folder &:I knew NOT to click on those boxes..BUT IF YOU DONT...HERE'S HOW TO BE SURE...
There is 1 way to VERIFY if you have had a security issue from Google. You would get a legit email, but also in your device ''s Google Account,
You open that & go to the "Security" Tab. This will tell you if your device has had a security issue in the last 30 days.
Just thought you might like to know! ♡☆ ;) - CelticDragon replies to KimJust clicking on those emails might have triggered something-I just hover over what's in my spam box and see what the email is that way for safety
- Reda VMultiple calls since January warning me of suspicious activity in my gmail account. They will ask if you are still using the account and say there has been a large number of changes or attempts to access your account from Russia or some place. Worker will become angry when you question him/her. This guy actually yelled at me when I told him I wasn't giving him any information because I googled the number and it has a suspicious record. He said he wasn't trying to get my information because he already has it. Seems fishy to me. Definitely a scam.
