Why didn't you verify with the bank first instead of coming here?

Alright I see your point. I guess my point was just to let people know not to dismiss the call or letters as a scam and go check with your actual bank.

A biz associate deposited a check into our biz account, when I was out of town.  I was told it was his crypto earning tbat we both had been racking tbe coin eth n bitcoin up daily and faithfully as a team.

But then I got backcharged  almost three months later.  And had to repay it.  It really upset me he left me with the charge and took the crypto money we raised.

Scandelous!  But, now I just saw tbis debit receipt and realized, the envelopes stamped texas, zip code snd tbe debit form came from Portland, Oregon.  Weird right?  Tbe number on form is the same as the one you posted about.

I beginning to believe I got scammed bad.

It is not a scam I got a call today in the afternoon I knew it was a real person because they where able to pronounce my name correctly and their english accent was on point as an interpreter I can tell when someone is not a robot. So I called wells fargo 1800 customer care and they did verify after checking with my social security number ofcurse (remember I called wells Fargo 1800 number ) they told me that an account was opened today under my name with my social security number. It is 2 am my time so I cant do nothing i ask the agent if they can block that account but he explained to me that the person who called me earlier was able to put a freeze on such account. My mind is going a million miles a min now. I guess next is call wells fargo tomorrow get this taken care of then call the social security administration and put a flag on my ssn...ugh

How did you manage to go from the afternoon to 2 am in a single phone call?  If you had called the Bank and talked with them, why couldn't they take care of any issue right then and there?
Sorry, but your story just doesn't make sense.

I received a letter informing me that Wells Fargo is closing my account, even though I've never opened a Wells Fargo account, and to call this number for questions or inquiries.  I just got off the phone a few moments ago with Wells Fargo's corporate office (a different number that I personally researched, not the number on the letter), and this IS a legitimate number for Wells Fargo for their loss protection department.  Allow me to clear up a few things.  It is possible for banks to have unlisted numbers for fraud protection services, I found this out at my job when I ignored a call from PNC Bank a few years ago assuming it was a scam, which after some digging with a local branch manager actually turned out to be legitimate.  However, here is the catch:  IF YOU RECEIVE A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER YOU SHOULD STILL BE SUSPICIOUS, because scammers CAN spoof caller ID's.  This is why if you receive a cold call from this number you still should not trust it.  If you receive a letter like I did and you're still suspicious and do not want to call the number provided, that's perfectly fine, because you can easily find a number that IS listed like I did to assist you and confirm whether the letter is legitimate or not.  Turns out the letter was 100% legitimate and Wells Fargo closed the account before any activity could be done fraudulently under my name.

Received a letter dated June 17, 2022 from Fraud & Claims Management, MAC N9777-112-FLM, po box 5106, Sioux falls sd 57117-5106... subject: closure of your deposit accounts (I have NO wells fargo accounts)... lists the last 4 numbers of an account and does give that number with daytime hours to call. I will call to let them know I have no account and they need to get their information square, but I'm not verifying any personal info. It came to my address so they have some information from somewhere... this stuff really makes me angry... now I have to waste my time messing with the wanna be thieves. Pitiful!

I received 3 official letters in the mail today. So I contacted the main Wells-Fargo bank and spoke with 2 different agents.  A checking account was opened in my name, but according to the one letter they were closing it due to suspected identify theft or fraud. The other 2 letters stated based on my credit report they would not open any accounts due to my credit report.  That being said, the account was opened online,  and they also told me to contact Equifax to have them place a hold on my account for any further inquiries.  These letters were not scams.  I didn't receive any calls, emails or texts.

This IS a legitimate number for Wells Fargo!  We got a call from this number saying someone had tried to use my son's SSN to open a Wells Fargo account.  They didn't ask for his SSN, they simply said they were going to reject the request to open the account and told me we needed to call the credit bureaus and have them flag his SSN.  I was very skeptical but fortunately I have a friend who works for Wells Fargo.  I called her and asked if this was one of their phone numbers and she told me it was in fact the number to their loss prevention department.

That doesn't mean all calls are actually from Wells Fargo. Or have you somehow never heard of phone number spoofing? I'm surprised your "friend who works for Wells Fargo" didn't tell you about it.
And why are you even here? You already know to whom this number (allegedly) belongs so there is no logical reason for you to look it up.
