The number is a Wells Fargo number and I did not receive a call from them I actually called the number myself. So someone could not have spoofed me and I also called Wells Fargo 1 800 869 3557 and they confirmed that it was their online fraud department.

There is not a way to post a screenshot, but I really hope everyone here who is saying it’s a scam because they don’t have an account, look into it. You are definitely the victim of identity theft. Someone opened in your name. Wells Fargo close my checking account. Never mind the fact that they just closed it without even bothering to check with me. It was flagged from a mobile deposit. They’re notorious for immediately closing an account with a large amount flagged. Shoot first ask questions later. But this number was listed in a transaction in my banking app. In the Wells Fargo app. It says “Loss prevention closing entry, questions call…….) it’s legitimate. So all the people saying it’s a scam because they don’t have one, you really need to call them. Unfortunately, giving your social is the only way to prove you’re you. So if you’re nervous about doing it over the phone, go into a branch. People don’t realize how easy it is with the Internet. Social is all they need if they know your address. Social, address, birthday. Credit too. That’s all that’s needed to open credit. And we all have our birthday party pictures on social media time stamped with the celebration day. We post pics of your kids waiting for the bus on the first day of school with our house number behind them. Protect yourselves. Think about things like that. And for the love of god stop telling everyone it’s a scam!!!! You are causing people to have things ran up in their name longer than is necessary. The scam has already happened.

I contacted the main branch and they said it sounded like a scam and to email phish@wellsfargo.com

I did receive a call from this number and it was genuine - it was WF and it was about a genuine fraud.   That said, I have also had fraudsters contact me using numbers that looked genuine.

I hung up, called a listed wells fargo number, was told it was genuine, was transferred through, and we helped with my issue.

Caller said they were from Wells Fargo Account Recivery Center. Left a voicemail. Called Wells Fargo and was told it is indeed a scam/phishing. Don't give out personal info!

Received blocked call, was given this number as a call back. Wells Fargo Loss Prevention confirmed this is a phishing scam at 11:30 AM on July 8, 2024. Wells Fargo also stressed that anyone posting on forums like this saying things like "This is definitely Wells Fargo, you must respond or risk losing your account" is working for the scammer and their messages here should be reported. Repeat: 888-231-0757 confirmed as phishing by Wells Fargo's own Fraud Prevention.

They changed up the scam:   Just got the letters emailed as a PDF from somebody who claimed to have "accidentally got mail for me" and then sent me these fake letters.  Same phone number, and no that number is not real.

The only number you should call is when you go to the website (or the bank) and speak with somebody IN PERSON.

The person calling you is a scammer, and the posts here that it's legit are just to support the scammer.

No this number has been verified that it is a scam number and is not a legitimate Wells Fargo number. Do not call that number or answer the call. Save any voicemails you may receive from it. Call the real Wells Fargo customer service number from your card and file a claim against this number.
