Rocky River, OH 44116 - FedUpWithRoboCalls| 3 repliesI get numerous calls a day from this number 6 days a week and they never leave a message. I called the number back today and a woman answered saying JP recovery services.
From reading other reports on this page I see that it supposed to be a collection agency for Cleveland Clinic. The odd thing is I have never been to Cleveland Ohio, if that's the Cleveland they're talking about, and I have never been to that clinic. Sounds like a scam to me!!!!- Caller: Unknown- it just shows the number where the name should be

- New Number Person| 1 replyIt sure would be nice if the company on the other end of this number would read these posts. I purchased a new cell phone back at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, I got a deadbeat's old number and I get many calls during the day/week that I ignore/block because I don't recognize the caller i.d. number. Although this call went to voice mail and an automated message requested a call back, I am not bothering. I am tired of debt collectors calling for the person who 'USED' to have my number and I feel we should have an option of a 'once and done' contact with them.

- BigA replies to New Number PersonYou do. but you have to send them a "not me" letter, preferably by certified, return receipt mail. You can also file reports at the proper agencies.

- Bob| 1 replyThese people do not listen. I have now talked to them twice and they still call looking for someone I have never heard of. They do not even know who they are calling, apparently they "shotgun" robo calls out to every number they can find. Besides, in today's world of daily frauds, why would anyone talk with a voice on the phone when they want all the information and refuse to provide anything in return. If this is not a scam, it sure makes it look like one. Even if I was the person they were looking for, I would make them put everything in writing and mail it to me. That's the law if you tell them to do it.

- Ryan replies to FedUpWithRoboCalls| 2 repliesIt's not a scam! It's very real and they are affiliated with multiple hospitals. Does anyone know if their tactics have changed since 2011. I've heard very negative comments.
- BigA replies to RyanIt's not a "scam"? Seriously? You want to defend these crooks? Oh and what do you think the odds are of that person coming back after 3 years to see your post?
- BigAYou will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt, and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
