I received this letter with a boarding voucher for a 4 day trip to either the Caribbean or the Mexican Riviera.  The phone number I got was 888-768-6150.

They say I would go on either Royal Caribbean, Carnival or Princess.  Yeah right?

My idiotic husband fell for the scam HOOK LINE SINKER. He came home tonight ALL excited about taking me on the 90 min presontation. As soon as he was done talking I all but about knocked his head off. WHAT A [***]!!! He actually spent about an hour talking to them letting them convince him how well will get our VEGAS vacation or other prizes. WHAT A BOOB. Any ways after about 2 hours of convincing HIM it is all a scam he finally said OK IM A BOOB. He said he will call them next day to cancel. I also told him to tell them if they contact us again or ran our credit with out authorization that I will SUE THE HELL out of them for fraud, misrepensitation, and harrasment. NEVER EVER let your husband open these fake vouchers.

My dumb [***] of a husband actually called. 1-800-334-1323. If things in life were REALLY only that easy to get vacations and cars and money. Then the world would be so much happier. My husband is grounded as of today until he clears up this matter with AVC Travel and makes sure they never send us another voucher or ever call again. I can't BELIVE he actually FELL for it. I feel sorry for him cuz I had to break the news to him that it was all a scam. I hope to GOD he didn't give them mine or his S.S. # or DL #.

    Howdy,
Today, 9 Dec 2008 I also received an awards announcement for AVC TRAVEL, 6321 Blvd 26, Suite 450, North Richland Hills, TX  76180. (888) 768-6150.
These pesky travel facists seem to move around quite a bit.  Please don't "bite" or talk with them.  They are high pressure sales people for time share nonsense.

No Call. Blue post card from Award Verification Center about how I won a car, cash or cruise. Last week they sent me phoney cruise tickets. The phone number on the card was 1-888-261-2595 and the address was 6321 Blvd. 26 #450 North Richland Hills, TX. Stinks like a scam to me. More food for the schredder!

No call, just junk mail.  It says that I was entered into their INSTANT GOLD GIVEAWAY and that "You HAVE WON the new Mercedes Benz, BMW, or Porsche, blah blah blah."

Really folks, are you that gullible to think someone is actually going to give something of value to you?

For laughs, I went to Silverleaf Resorts web site http://www.silverleafresorts.com/
and filled out online an "entry" for their giveaway.  I hope Sam Walton doesn't mind that I used his name and Walmart's HQ address!

I figure whatever will waste Silverleaf's time is fine with me.

So what you are saying is that the card i got from AVC claims is legit. If so, are you willing to guarantee me that I will get my BMW and cruise?

I got the same card in the mail. As I spoke with the person from the claims dept I continually reconfirmed that all i had to do was come down and listen to them for 90 minutes and then with no obligation i could walk a way with in the least $500.00 cash and cruise. they consistently came back confirming this was the case.
What's the scam, how can they tell you this and then get out of giving it to you? Is there someone out there that actually did this and got taken, shafted or ripped off or in the least is this simply a big waist of one's time?

    Got burned before
I got burned $175.00 for falling for this kind of stuff from a company called VIP Travel Reservations INC. out of Port Orange Florida. They took my money and will not refund it or return my calls. Their phone number is:386-252-2332. I called the Florida Consumer Affairs Office at: 850-488-2221 and filed a complaint. I think all of us that have been burned should file a class action law suit to get rid of these a--holes. Check out the complaints on google and never let this company anywhere near you.

Received this winning notification notice in the mail with the words, "Important Travel Documents, Open Immediately" on the envelope that came from 3321 Blvd 26, suite 450 North Richland Hills, TX 76180.  It was from AVC Travel from 2400 W Pioneer Pkwy Suite 210, Arlington, TX 76013.  It is amazing how they are able to make so realistic documents such as boarding passes.  Nothing was written on the back for details of a promo or something like that.  So I called this 18003274614.

If you were to be the messenger of good news, wouldn't you be happy for the recipient as well?  This agent took my call down to the pits of her depression and misery, probably as a result of this crapy job.  She said that I had won any of the four major prices that included a vehicle with cash value of $49,000 or cruise trips and shopping spree.  All I had to do is personally claim my price at their Lake Conroe office which is just one hour from Houston.

I already knew this is one of those scams that take advantage of people or mislead you into something it is not.  But just to know how this scammer works, I played along.  The lady kept insisted that "I set an appointment as the office only let you through their gate if you have an invitation".  I told her I was out of town on the dates she suggested and that I have to call back to confirm which dates I am available.

Their audacity on insisting you something that you are not amenable to is just so annoying.. worse than recurring acne, heck even worse than a herpes infection.

I followed the links posted by the Dude (above) on 12-22-08.  My! What do you know:  similar comments such as these date back to 2004!!!  And they are still doing it!

Bottom line is I was still courteous because, like they say, she is just doing her job.  I hung up, did a little research and closed off this comment.

The only way to stop this is to file a BBB complaint.  If we all did that, think of all the trouble they would have.
