I was just wondering what company you work for that gives away free airline tickets?

We just got the letter with the boarding pases etc.  but we did call Oops.  We are booked for Wednesday and I decided to look it up before we drove 3 hours out of our way in an 8 cylinder truck with gas being what it is.  Thank you very much for the info.  There is $80.00 in gas saved.

This is how most, if not all, timeshares work. My grandfather is retired and this is how he travels. The trip is guaranteed, if you attend the presentation. He's gone on 4 cruises (you get everything you would normally get when you buy a cruise ticket) and 2 trips to Vegas, 2 to Florida and 1 to Hawaii. When in Hawaii and Vegas he attended other presentations to recieve free tickets to shows.
If you don't have to travel far to attend the presentation and you want a free vacation (hotel, airfare)(cruise to Mexico), it's not a bad deal.
The sales people are persistant, but you're not obligated to but ANYTHING. Just stick to your guns and claim your trip. You have a year or two to travel. Some people see it as a scam and some see it as an enexpensive way to travel.
You can either ignore it or use it to your advantage.
Now..I'm not speaking from experience, as I've only recieved an offer once before and the travel expence to the location was not worth the trip so I just ignored the offer, but speaking from my grandfather who does it once or twice a year, it can have a positive outcome. But my grandfather says you have to have a strong will stick to your guns because they can be very persistant.

I received a letter from these people about three months ago. I went through with it, knowing it was probably a scam. Turns out, all they wanted me to do was sit at a 90 minute sales presentation trying to sell me time shares, but after I didn't buy anything, they still gave me the prize. I got $500 cash and a Hawaii vacation. I had to pay $192 in travel taxes and a $50 refunded room deposit, but they paid for food and everything else. Believe it or not, these people are actually legit.

just got the same letter today, but the number is 1-800-309-8595, and the main office would be Arlington or Dallas? They can't decide.

Ok I got the same crap letter today from the fine folks at AVC Travel.  Unlike most of the contributors to this forum, I love to get these letters in the mail.  I call them right up.

First they ask your name, address, and the BS confirmation number on the letter. Hey guess what after a minute they say "good news you are the winner" and start off on the sale pitch crap.

Now it's time for the fun to begin:
First, I know it's a call from a room full of losers just waiting for you to call. They have a script in front of them and basically read it to you.

My quest is to get them to totally lose their cool.  I start off by asking them where their office is, like I really want to know. Then I ask what the weather is.  My favorite is when I ask them if they have a headset on like the Time Life operator I saw on TV.  By now they are starting to forget where they are on the script.

Remember to ask them all kinds of things that have nothing to do with their scam. The more you talk to them the more they become lost in their sales pitch.

They talk about the trip to Vegas and I jump right in with how much I love Vegas.  How I was just there last month and the fun I had at the Nakid Pool at the Mirage. I even add that I got a really bad sunburn in an area not use to sun exposure.
Ask the if the car has leather seats if so, ask if you can get plastic ones.  It's only an ocassional bladder problem, shame to ruin good leather seats.

By this time they may have hung up on me, if not I continue talking about anything but their fine offer.

I have told friend of doing this and most of them have tried it.  It's like a game for us. Hell it's a toll free call. Enjoy it.  They get to pay for it not you. If you are really good at this you might get a supervisor to get on the line. They are really fun to play with.

My only advice is that we all are fellow human beings and all have a job that suck.  Their job sucks more then ours and they only do it for the $$.  I never am crude, rude or vulgar.  Just a big pain in the ass.

I have never once had to hang up on them.  I love to talk to them. Them more I talk, the more frustrated they get.

Now instead of opening the window, pick up the phone and see how good it makes you feel. I can't get the smile off of my face when I hear the click of the receiver from their end...success.

If we all did this they'd go broke paying for phone calls and their staff of operators "just waiting to hear from you".

My elderly father received a postcard in the mail. He called and spoke to a lady named Melissa.  When my father informed her that he cannot drive to New Braunfels to claim his prize she asked him to get a ride AND bring his sick wife along!! She even put her manager on the line and try to convince him to come along and they would give him $100 gas card. I am appalled that this company is aroung preying on Senior Citizens.  As soon as I get a hold of this postcard with all their information on it, I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau.

I actually attend this 90 minute tour of the resort and at the end I was issued the real vouchers for the cruise and trip to vegas or florida with air fare included (they won't send tou the real ones until you attend) and I also reieved a $100 gas card and although I didn't win the the new car, I wqas a winner of a $1500 shopping spree! not bad.  So as the old saying goes; don't knock it until you try it!!!

I had similar letter saying that i won one of the 4 prizes and i did research on internet and later found out that this is totally scam. it is not worth it. these people r trying to get u r info and really want to take u r money. so please don't fall in this scam.

I got the letter too.  It looked like a scam, and I wanted to double check.  What clued me in was the prizes sounded so uncertain.  The number on mine was 1-800-327-4616.  Voila...looks like I one of bunches.  Thanks for saving me waisting my time.

Okay we know its a scam. Forget about the prizes. You attend a 90-min presentation and afterwards you say NO, no buy. But has anybody ever went to the free trip to Las Vegas or Orlando? What is the scam on that? No airfare? The voucher says free airfare or is this another lie? Who ever went on this 'free' trip I want to know.

how could u all think the boarding  and baggage passes look real? there is no perforated edges, hell its not even on the right kind of paper. oh and on the boarding pass it says that it is not valid for travel only about 1000 times.

You people are unbelieveable. Did you actually think you won all of that [***] without having to do ANYTHING? If all I have to do is sit through a 90 minute lecture-that's fine with me. Live a little!

I hate scams....isn't there some place this can be reported to put them out of business???

I received the letter, called to confirm an appointment to claim my "prize". 2 nights before, I finally had sufficient access to the internet. I googled it, only to find this website and many similar to this. There was no official website, and the "agents" don't answer the phones in a business manner, nor did they end on a proper tone. I have canceled my appointment, and received an unusal substitute job for that day (a day that I'm usually off).
Thank God that I didn't experience that disaster, and whoever is supposed to earn it, God has other proper means of people to earn it. Thank you for your input!
