- Retired LibrarianThis number belongs to Experian a credit score reporting and identity theft protection company. It has been spoofed by a scammer. When I answered a call from them, a young man with a heavy Indian/Pakistani accent told me it was "Credit Card Services." I hung up on him, checked out the phone number online and called it back. This time I was told by a robo voice, that it was Experian and in order to direct my call to the proper department and to best serve me I needed to give them my 9 digit social security number. Great way for Experian to prevent identity theft. Finally got the number for Experian's fraud division. The young woman I spoke to confirmed that the 888 number was theirs and they always ask for social security numbers ---- Great way for them to prevent identity fraud.

- Sue B. ClarkI had a fraudulent purchase on my credit card. I radically the same day I got a call from (888) 397-3742. So I thought they were related and I gave them my social security number and all my other information. I do have a credit freeze on my account so I'm hoping that that will stop them from any further damage.

- Puck| 1 replyOkay lets get down and dirty now.... Okay I wanted to check my Experian Credit Report last night.
I was shocked to find on their site a entry from Well Fargo Credit Card... I HAVE NEVER EVER IN MY
WHOLE LIFE WANTED A WELL FARGO CREDIT, APPLIED FOR ONE, OR HAD ONE PERIOD.
So I called Well Fargo last night and this morning... both times I was given this 1-888-397-3742 number
They answer the call as Experian Fraud.. you can not get to a person... the first question out of their
mouths is you Social Security number...
I checked this number on line and found it been related to a Attorney, and numerous times to o
Credit card service who call everyone multiple times a day using spoof telephone numbers and
foreign accent speaking people. I recall seeing this number numerous times on my phone..
SO CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT DOES EXPERIAN HAVE TO DO WITH THIS
SCAM OPERATION... I HAVE EMAIL EXPERIAN REQUESTING IMMEDIATE RESPONSE....
NEXT STEP IS THE FBI- Caller: Experian/ Credit Card Services

- BigA replies to PuckExperian has a website. On that website is a detailed method for disputing credit report errors. If you called Wells Fargo at a known, published number they should be able to tell you if a card was issued under your SS#.
