I had just paid for a credit report on Experian.com and had signed up for Experian CSID credit monitoring yesterday, online and by phone. Afterwards, I noticed this number had called on my cell. I did not call them back. Spooky, or coincidence?

Thank you Lucky Guy!! :)    I was just awakened by a call from this number.  Was annoyed and hit decline on phone, as it was not a known personal number.  I came here and sure enough, I'm so glad that I didn't pick up.  And now I'm forewarned re: this number.

Get calls from this number constantly, just received a call at 7:45am.  Foreign voice said she was calling from credit services, name on phone comes up as V207094521001136.  I asked her what company she was calling from and she stopped talking but I could hear the sweat shop of callers in the background.  Told her never to call again.  Doubt that will work.

Just received a call from  888-397-3742 caller id identified the caller as Experian. I answered the phone and the caller had a muffled tone but an accent from India. So I said "Who the hell is this" and his response was "your conscience" and he hung up. I thought I recognized he voice from other scammed calls. So be aware.

Exact scenario happened to me this morning. I am reporting this incident, and am considering a credit report freeze. This is a serious problem!

Ordinarily I don't answer 800 numbers, but today I did.  He identified himself as Daniel with "something" Card Services and advised me that they could reduce my credit card interest rate on both my Visa & MC.  His first language clearly wasn't English, and after briefly listening to him I stated I wasn't interested in his offer.  He asked why & I said I pay my card in full.  He accepted the reply and we disconnected.  Wish I would have told him that I receive immediate alerts on all my card purchases as well. Nonetheless, in light of the massive Equifax breach & now this call, I'm seriously considering a freeze on my credit reports.  Perhaps we all should?

I received an official looking letter from "Experian" stating that someone was using my account, name or social security number.  The letter asked to call this number.  The automated message asked me to identify myself by typing in my social security number.  Clearly this is a scam.

I just received a call from this number saying they were calling from Bank of Hawaii to lower  the interest rate on my Hawaiian Miles Master Card. Started asking me information about my account. I told her she didn’t need any info from me and if they wanted to lower my interest rate to just do it. She kept pressing me for info. When I told her I would call Bank of Hawaii directly to ask about lowering my interest rate she hung up on me.

I called the number back.  A RECORDING came up asking me to input my SSN, Zip Code, and number of street address.  I think the only thing they forgot to ask was my blood type.  Then, if you want your credit report, they ask you to submit COPIES of your Drivers License, Billing statements, "etc".  They actually said "Et Cetera".  Who the hell actually says that?  "Just send us anything else you can think of"...Really?

Called with tricky wording to imply they were with my credit card company. I asked "is this regarding a card I already have?" to which the woman replied in an Indian accent "yes, we are offering you a Visa or MC at a rate of 4.9% blah blah blah".
