- Erik| 1 replySpoke with quite a character today who, as soon as I asked for proper identification from him regarding his company called me a "deadbeat and probably used to doing this. Bet you're not even from this country" After CONSTANT berating, including cursing, I told him that following review with my attorney and the online court database that I didn't have any listed pending litigation. His reply "well you will in the morning". So let's see what happens. I'll wait until Friday and then call him back. Since every time I call it goes right back to the same helium-sucking voiced guy who likes to cuss at me, I'll probably get him then too.

- naynay7979Yep, Received a call about a debt from an online payday loan place from 5 years ago that I had deposited in my AmSouth bank (an acct I had with them when I worked for them 11 years ago but was closed when I left the company the following year...no open account since that time). Told me I owed $2300, that they were going to have me served, they read back to me the last 4 of my SSN, listed my address (I had recently moved about a month and a half ago so I guess 'people finder' hadn't updated yet with my current address). They told me I owed this debt and the Bryan Appleton was the attorney that would be serving the papers and having me arrested. I googled him...nope, no such practicing lawyer so I asked the lady what state/county he practiced in so I could look him up. She asked me why, I said because I don't see that any such lawyer exists. The response was a very attitudinal, "Excuse me...!?" I repeated it and asked again for the county/city he practices in and got hung up on. No call since. That was last week. Then my ex-mother-in-law calls me because my ex-father-in-law is ENRAGED because she called them back and was told that I had put my ex-husband on the loan and he was liable...told her his SSN, his previous address and that he is liable for my debt and that if they didn't pay it, they would put a lien on her property. She told them she needed to call and talk to me first and they said that she had 45 minutes to call back or she would make sure he son was hauled away to jail for check fraud and have a warrant issued for him and wasn't this debt easier to pay then bail money would be? Ridiculous. So I chilled them out...and called back. Got transferred several times and talked to the lady that had called and harassed my ex-in-laws. She was SO loud and talked over me about not paying my debts, I'm going to go to jail, I'm a deadbeat and I will pay this debt or else...I just kept asking for her last name for documentation, she continued to yell before she hung up. So I called back to her direct extension. She picked up the phone and yelled, "Why do you [***] keep calling my work, I'm done with your sh*t!" and hung up. So I called back again. And again. And again. Eventually I just kept getting pushed to VM. They don't tend to like it so much when you flip that script on them. Is it wrong I kinda ENJOYED her being uncomfortable? Probably not since it is she and her company who is breaking the law. ::shrugs:: Assh*les. :) Just be smart, ask questions yourself. Don't pay these idiots. They don't hire the most intelligent of workers, a little nudging or intelligent question asking has THEM hanging up on YOU.

- naynay7979 replies to ErikOh man! Your guy picks up?? Dang...I started to enjoy flipping the script on mine. She now just puts me to voicemail. :) They won't do anything to you so no need to check...but calling them back? It's kind of fun until they become spoil sports and don't answer or listen to you if they pick up. Tried blocking my number to see if I could get her back on the phone but just got switched to VM...wussies. :)
- naynay7979 replies to DanaCHuh, Veronica was the name of the woman I called back today after they couldn't get me to cooperate last week and called my ex-inlaws today. She's...a 'gem'.
- LGI received a call today from a Charles Dixon . He stated my name and said that they had paperwork to serve me at my work or home. The message stated to call the plaintiff with any questions. I called back several times and it answered with a recorded message stating you have reached Curtis Payton Litigation, if you have received a summons and complaint please let your representative know.

- KateGot a call from these scam artists. They first called me in September 2013, leaving me a voicemail asking for Anne Smith, saying that they had to serve me with papers at my place of residence or my place of employment. I called them back, and told them that I am not Anne Smith, and they apologized and stopped calling me. Now they've just started calling me back, and they are very rude. I told them that I was not Anne Smith, and they asked me if I knew Anne Smith. WTF?! I said "No, I do not. Please stop calling me. This is getting ridiculous." The so-called operate advised me to "Calm down!" And I said "NO, I will certainly NOT calm down, you people have been calling me for days now, leaving me voicemails and it's absurd!" She then hung up on me. A half hour later, I get a robo call from Los Angeles, California from the same place!
- Elspeth replies to Donna MooreThey're scammers - they're not interested in stopping the calls. They'll keep calling and harassing, as long as they can get some poor schmuck to pay a bogus debt. If your phone has a "number block" feature, use it to block their number. If not, then you'll either have to assign a "no ring" tone to their number(s) so it goes right to voice mail, or you may want to invest in a call blocker. Google "call blockers" - you can get a good one for $60 or less.
- Rachel R replies to amberIt is a scam. Just because they have your personal information does not mean they are legit. Don't believe me? Ask them for their address and watch them become irate
- Jacqueline BrownI keep getting calls from a Mr. Charles Dickson that works for Curtis Payton Litagation. - Angeleia Woods| 1 replyI got a call from 888 431 9131 regarding a Bank of America acct that was closed in 2006. They claim BofA were suing me for check fraud amount $1, 685-- which I didn't know where that total came from but okay. The woman sounded so compassionate she EVEN quote my mothers address and said "they are already know where you are, so stop this." I said I needed to make payments and was immediately told no payments I needed to pay half now and then the other half in 30 days to prevent prosecution. I said I had to check to see what I could do and call back--- I didnt and haven't called back. I went online and started researching them I called Bof A and reported to them what this company are doing so they could put some alert out or whatever they do in sitiations like this. I was alarmed BUT I kept thinking something stinks here. Why wouldn't a bank want a payment arrangement and when I couldn't find ANYTHING on Curtis Payton (Payson) Litigation other than everyone reporting its a scam. I didn't like the suddel threat they made "we know where you are" it made me angry they threatened my elderly mother. I went through my records and I found my info on the money I paid and dates I paid on this account-- I OWE NO MONEY. I looked up check fraud info for my state and this is not a felony like I was told. Everyone get this on Facebook, Twitter all and any social media. I know they will change there name soon but lets do what we can to ruin this scam.

- Nina| 5 repliesI received a call on 6/9/14 from Curtis Litigation telling me that I would be served papers for a loan with Quick Pay for $1200 from when I had an account with Bank of America. I was so scared that I paid them $400 to close the case but after reading all of these post, I feel as though I was scammed. They have caused my new bank account to be overdrawn. I am not sure what to do at this point. Does anyone know of a way for me to get my money back? I feel like an idiot.

- get a clue replies to NinaGet off the internet. Stop answering the phone. Have a going away party for your money, it's not coming back. Grow up.
- AnitaThis is just like the calls I received last year. They would leave a case # & a phone # & tell you that if you didn't call them, you would loose all legal rights & that they would see you in court. They have called both of my sister-in-laws trying to get to me. If they have the phone #'s of people you use as references, then they definitely already have your address, because all of that info is on any type of paperwork that you submit, including credit card applications. I tried calling them back & got the message machine. I didn't leave a call back #.
- gotthecall061214After four days of robo calls from Charles Dixon telling me he had papers to serve....I called the # 888-431-9131 given on the automated recording again. I had had contact earlier in the week and they said they were marking me down as a "refusal" I suppose because I didn't agree to pay them anything. I then called again yesterday and couldn't get thru. I called today and a different rep for Curtis Peyton Litigation was much more threatening using terms such as "meeting with the District Attorney" "warrant" and "see you in court." She also refused to give me an address on the company so I could write them to cease and desist. She also said I was being noted as a "refusal" Thing is I didn't refuse anything, I asked them to send me their "papers." I have since contacted the FTC and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau where I filed a formal complaint. I would urge all you use the 800notes.com site and have had a similar issue to do the same. http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

- MrsDI have received several calls from a number that is for Charles Payton Litigation. The person that answers the phone starts by saying "Charles Payton Litigation" and then how can I help you. I said, you can start by repeating the name of your company and give me the address for the business in question. She became instantly defensive, telling me to wait for the warrant to come to my home or place of business. I interrupted her and said, you realize I haven't given you my name or any information on me. She started cursing me out and I ask her are you finished? Told her I will not be giving, sending, or answering anymore of these illegal scam phone calls. I will however report this number and place of business to the BBB. As soon as I said that she went off, I hung up and now I'm sending this message. If you receive a call from 888-431-9131, immediately put them on the defense and I promise you the more questions you ask, the more irritated they will become. Real debt collectors have no problem sending you the information you request.

- W Angel| 1 replyRepeated calls from this number to my 14 year old grand daughters phone. When I spoke with representative I was cursed and called white trash amongst many other things. Any information as to who this is would be appreciated. No association whatsoever with the person they were looking for. Called a liar and was threatened they were coming to my residence.
