Anonymous - All your responses are angry - you seems to be very upset at AMT auditing. I am considering  an audit - I am curious to find out if you have any first hand experience of your own, if so what?  I have had nothing but positive interaction so far.

Forensic Mortgage Loan Audit Scams: A New Twist on Foreclosure Rescue Fraud

    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt177.shtm

    excerpt from consumer alert
Fraudulent foreclosure “rescue” professionals use half-truths and outright lies to sell services that promise relief to homeowners in distress. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, the latest foreclosure rescue scam to exploit financially strapped homeowners pitches forensic mortgage loan audits.

In exchange for an upfront fee of several hundred dollars, so-called forensic loan auditors, mortgage loan auditors, or foreclosure prevention auditors backed by forensic attorneys offer to review your mortgage loan documents to determine whether your lender complied with state and federal mortgage lending laws. The “auditors” say you can use the audit report to avoid foreclosure, accelerate the loan modification process, reduce your loan principal, or even cancel your loan.

Nothing could be further from the truth. According to the FTC and its law enforcement partners:

there is no evidence that forensic loan audits will help you get a loan modification or any other foreclosure relief, even if they’re conducted by a licensed, legitimate and trained auditor, mortgage professional or lawyer.

some federal laws allow you to sue your lender based on errors in your loan documents. But even if you sue and win, your lender is not required to modify your loan simply to make your payments more affordable.

if you cancel your loan, you will have to return the borrowed money, which may result in you losing your home.

Thanks for posting links. I'm aware of them but they do not accurately describe AMT's unique MO.
    1. AMT's audit is a fee-for-service offer that does not involve the homeowner's bank. The typical FTC scenario would have AMT negotiating with the homeowner's lender and this is not the case here. Homeowner pays AMT $149-$299, homeowner receives audit results and AMT goes away. IMO, the ban on up-front payment described in the FTC articles does not apply to AMT's fee-for-service audit because AMT is not offering mortgage relief to homeowners such as a loan modification or lowered monthly payments. It's strictly a service provided for a fee like getting a haircut or your tires rotated (I've no idea what made those examples pop into my head and no, I don't need either).
    2. The real money to be made lies in the negative-option, 30-day free trial of $49.95/month 30to8 Debt Software that all homeowners are signed up for behind their backs when they buy the audit and which turns into a live subscription unless homeowners cancel in time. The software "saves" or "refunds" the allegedly horrendous $interest charged by the banks on mortgages. Gullible homeowners who decide to use the software will end up paying several $thousands over several years for something they can do for FREE and get the SAME "savings" or "refunds." The software offer is not described in either FTC article. I don't know if it can be construed as something that provides "mortgage relief" to the homeowner and hence subject to the up-front fee ban; my guess is it won't be.
Both offers above are "white elephant" offers -- they work but homeowners might as well be throwing their money away if they buy either. Because they do work, the Feds won't shut down AMT just like they refused to shut down United First Financial who brought us the $3,500 Money Merge Account. The 30to8 Debt Software is just a privately-branded version of the Money Merge Account that charges $49.95/month instead of $3,500 up front (we are in a recession so $49.95/month is more palatable than $3,500 up front). The real money is in the 30to8 software, not the audit, and it's not described in either FTC article.

Well, I ain't real happy with scammers ripping off desperate homeowners who may be looking for money in this imploding recession and I ain't about to reveal whether I've had any "first hand experience" because the scammers and shills like yourself read 800notes and I value my anonymity. Positive interaction? I'm sure all Ponzi's victims had positive interactions as well or they wouldn't have entrusted him with their hard-earned money, some with their life savings. Shills ignore the facts like AMT's BBB report http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/loan ... ork-ut-22302183 with F=FAIL rating and 44 complaints, 38 of which AMT failed to respond to (AMT ignored all BBB complaints after the first 6). There is none so blind as she who will not see. Go ahead -- slide down the razor blade of life. Enjoy!
