- cp replies to anonymousanonymous man probably works for amt,he should call himself anonymous asshoe instead!
- Consumer| 2 repliesDo what I just did: find the email address of your State Attorney General online. Scan your letter and the envelope (they've committed mail-fraud by using the USPS) email the scans along with a friendly note to your State Attorney General asking that they investigate these rascals.
If nothing else, your State AG will call the UTAH AG and if he/she gets enough flak from other AGs there'll eventually be an investigation that will shut down AMT. - anonymous replies to anonymousOops, instructions to cancel the 30to8 software subscription is on the Cancellation page on 30to8.com. - SB replies to LoreI received the same exact letter! Almost called, glad I didn't!!
- From TexasI received a letter in the mail from these people and knew it was "scam" from the time I opened the letter. I called the company (phone number on my letter was 888-407-9450) and asked to please be removed from their mailing list. I spoke with a female named Marty and after she sounded very put out that I did not want to do any business with their company and was no sure how I even ended up on their mailing list she finally informed me that I would be removed their mailing list.
I have researched these company online and all signs point to scam. Anyone giving them money may to do their research before just giving out all their personal information via the phone.- Caller: Mortgage Auditing Program Division of A.M.T
- FreeBird| 3 repliesI just recently got a letter from AMT, and I looked at some of the articles on-line about companies doing a refund on overdrafts and charges to loans. So I paid the money, but I also called my bank and if anything fishy happens they will automatically stop any payments and refund me any money. Best if you use your credit card. They said it will take about 3 weeks to process and get your money, so we will see.

- anonymous replies to FreeBird| 2 repliesRe. "called my bank and if anything fishy happens they will automatically stop any payments," no it can't. The charge from AMT looks like any ordinary charge and won't look "fishy" to and cannot be stopped by your bank. Only after the charge's posted can your bank do anything about it and the only thing it can do is issue a charge back but it CANNOT refuse to pay the charge because it's legally obligated to pay it on your behalf. In AMT's case, it's unlikely your bank will issue a charge back because you gave away your card info voluntarily to buy an audit and you will get the results in "about 3 weeks," i.e., you got or will get what you paid for so what reason would the bank have to issue a charge back? None whatsoever. The fact that it's a useless, unenforceable-in-court audit is irrelevant -- people voluntarily buy white elephants like this audit all the time and they have to pay for the white elephants they buy like everything else. And this is for a service that cannot be undone unlike a shirt that you can return for an exchange or refund so the charge has to be paid. Your bank will never issue the charge back and this is exactly why the only way to avoid being scammed is to stay away and NOT buy the audit. Methinks you be a shill?
- Wary replies to anonymous| 1 replyI am always in the state of mind that if something sounds too good to be true, than it is. This letter falls right into that catagory. That being said, I decided to call the number on the letter, (888) 407-7179 and find out what this companies deal was. I spoke to Mike and he told me that all I would have to do is pay $249 up front and I would be able to claim the money owed to me by my mortgage lender. And, that I would be refunded if I didn't receive anything back. Sounded screwy so I asked how they could possibly stay in business with overhead etc, doing this. He stumbled over his words after that and didn't really answer my question. Nothing was said of the software that I have read about so much on all of these posts. I said "thanks" but "no thanks" and hung up.
I am so thankful that I am wary of businesses like this one and that I do research prior to giving up my hard earned money. Also, thanks to all of you for posting your thoughts and experiences. You have helped many more people than you probably know! - crabbyconservative| 3 repliesGot scammed by these people on Monday. Stupidly thought that it was a legit document, so I called. It started to become very fishy when the guy asked me for $249 upfront, but was "relieved" when he said it would be refunded after all was said and done. Then, after I gave my credit card info for the retainer, came the sales pitch. I should have just cursed him out and hung up the phone, but I was too stupid. Oddly enough, I am really good a smelling scams a mile away. Should have done my research beforehand.
Anyway, about fifteen minutes after I spoke with Jason, I did my research, discovered the truth and called in to cancel it. The girl I spoke with was very nice, but seemed put off that I didn't want their bs product. When she asked why I wanted to cancel, I told her that I did my research online and decided that this whole thing was a very, VERY bad idea. She said she was sorry that I let all the company's negative reviews impact me, but that she understood.
After the initial conversations, I got some emails from them about that whole 30to8 debt program and was advised that if I was not interested in it to reply with cancel. Oh, you better believe that I did.
"Cancel. I am deeply sorry that I actually was dense enough to fall for your little scam. I guess that in an economy as recessed as ours, it is easy to prey on people by luring them in with dollar amounts. Funny how you use absolutely NO return address on your letterhead or envelope nor do you provide a website. Also, be very, very careful of falsely representing a government agency -- that can get you into some very serious legal trouble. After I handed over my credit card information, I called my service provider to let them know of the situation, so if a) my $249 is not refunded within two business days and b) I am charged for your ridiculous software after I am telling you to cancel it, I will take serious legal action. Lastly, it has been brought to my attention that Utah officials have confirmed that Mortgage Auditing Program -- or any entities with a similar name --does not have a license to engage in the mortgage business. Do not ever contact me again via email, phone or anything else unless it is to confirm my cancellation and refund."
Moral of the story: get nasty and threaten them. You will see a refund right away. I called Monday night, and saw the credit on my VISA account this evening (Wednesday).- Caller: AMT Auditing Services
- anonymous replies to WaryRe. "how they could possibly stay in business with overhead etc, doing this," the audit is likely a computer calculation, just enter the relevant parameters and press "calculate." There is likely no licensed human CPA doing the audit. Then they rely on victims not knowing they have to fill out a rebate form within 45 days to get the rebate, and hide the form by moving it around on their website so you cannot post a reliable link to it. Victims wait for their "refund" in vain and run the 45-day clock out without ever knowing they have to fill out a form to get a rebate, not a refund, so they keep your $149/$199/$249 even though the audit found nothing.
Re. "Nothing was said of the software that I have read about so much on all of these posts," you are automatically enrolled behind your back when you buy the audit. After 30 days, the $49.95 charge shows up on your credit card 30 days later and you may not even know how it got there or know to link the charge back to the audit. And they keep charging $49.95/month until you figure out how to cancel the enrollment or kill your card. - stormyweather replies to crabbyconservative| 2 repliesReceived Mortgage Auditing Program Division of A.M.T. letter. Tel # 888-407-7179
Claiming that a refund may be due you because of miscalculated mortgage payments, mistakes or overcharges. Doesn't feel right.
Return address was on the envelope : 831 E. 340 S. Suite 150
American Fork, UT 84003
Did call fee up front was $149.00. Confirmed my name address and Case # (which they already know),
but told them nothing else and was very skeptical. This doesn't feel
legitimate. - bob replies to TimWhat is the name of the company you are listed as with the Better Business Bureau? Where is your address? What state are you licensed under?
The Better Business Bureau has no such company listed with them when I checked their site.
The phone number on the letter that I received from your company is not listed with the Better Business Bureau.
Why is everything about the company so secretive? - crabbyconservative replies to stormyweather| 1 replyInteresting how they are telling different people who call up that their "retainers" are different amounts. Some people are getting hit up for $199, I got hit up for $249 and you were told $149. Can't remember if a return address showed up on the envelope as I was too excited to see that I could possibly be getting up to $7500 in overcharges and was too angry that it turned out to be bogus. Glad that you didn't get roped in, very smart. I should have just shouted "SCAM!" into the phone and hung up after I was told I had to give them money up front. Anyway, my bullying got me what I wanted/needed and hope that others who fell for it will follow my example.
Also interesting to note that when I was researching the company, I found a job posting that looked about as fraudulent as the letter they sent to their potential victims. $12 - $20 an hour with the opportunity to make a six figure income with a company that is growing even during tough economic times. Probably shouldn't have put in that they are looking for candidates who are dependable and honest because I never met a scam artist who was. Found it incredibly odd that the hiring manager posted his or her PERSONAL email address rather than an actual company one. - TVW| 6 repliesThank you all so much for all of this information. I got the same letter a couple weeks ago and piled other bills on top of it. I just unearthed it today and called the number (888-407-7179), I got the same pitch that they audit your mortgage and you will most likely be refunded at least $1500. The cost was $249 which is alot for me right now. I was seriously considering it because like many of you, who couldnt use an extra $1500. My husband said to go online and do some research and i came across all of these posts....
I talked to Heidi and she seemed so nice and even told me about how she helped her sister.... nice story... almost roped me in....
Thanks again, I will not be giving out my cc information to this company!- Caller: Mortgage Auditing Program Division of AMT
- anonymous replies to crabbyconservativeThe price has varied from $149 to $199 to $249 over time because the scammers operate 2 scam websites amtdivision.org and deadpanham.com with the same phone number 888-681-9902 but with different prices (were different at one time, don't know if they still are). I conjecture offered prices may also vary by victim's state or mortgage $amount.
- anonymous replies to TVW| 5 replies"you will most likely be refunded at least $1500" is a LIE because Patrick states on 8 Aug 2011 on a similar mortgage audit scam https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-656-9964 "When I asked what is the likelihood of them finding some mistake and me getting a refund from the bank, he indicated that "honestly" very rarely does it happen." And you were never warned beforehand that if you did buy the AMT audit, you would also be buying the $49.95/month 30to8 Debt Software with 30-day free trial, were you? This is really why they want your credit card info up front, so they can charge the $49.95/month forever until you cancel, if you can figure out how to cancel.
- AMAZED replies to anonymous| 4 repliesI'm amazed that you waste your time with this stuff, whether it's legitimate or not. You must be lonely and have no life. I got this letter, called in, paid the $249 about 2 weeks ago and am waiting for my results. I don't know if this is a scam or not but it amazes me that you waste your time on this website. I'll let everyone know how it goes when my audit is finished.
- PT Barnum replies to AMAZEDScammers get down on their hands and knees and thank the lord when they find a sucker like you.
Or are you just a shill? Doesn't matter, no brain, no gain. - anonymous replies to AMAZEDOnly scammer shills worry about how I spend my time hahahahahahaha! I'm amazed you scammers are still trying to foist the useless Money Merge Account... oops, I mean the 30to8 Debt Software, on victims behind their backs in violation of the FTC's Telephone Sales Rule http://business.ftc.gov/documents/bus27-compl ... s-rule#negative but hey, you ARE scammers and you MUST deceive your victims.
"Under the TSR, any seller or telemarketer whose offer of a product or service involves a negative option feature must truthfully, clearly, and conspicuously disclose three pieces of information:
the fact that the customer’s account will be charged unless he or she takes an affirmative action — such as canceling — to avoid the charge.
the date(s) on which the charge(s) will be submitted for payment.
the specific steps the customer must take to avoid the charges."
http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/loan ... ork-ut-22302183 still shows AMT Auditing Services LLC and its DBAs (CRM Ventures LP, Enlightened LLC, Mortgage Auditing Program) with a F=FAIL rating and 15 complaints, 9 of which AMT failed to respond to. Hahahahahahaha!
