- TorontoReceived a call. I did not pick up
- MinnieI just got a call from this number as well but I don't answer calls from 800 numbers unless they identify themselves in the name display, which this one did not (and very few actually do).
The do-not-call list only covers things like random sales calls for things like carpet cleaning. However, the second you purchase a product from a store they can call you at will to offer more product.
As for surveys and charities, they are exempt from the do not call list, as are politicians. The only way to get no calls from anybody is to not have a phone. Unfortunately these types of calls will never be included on do not call lists because this a method of data collection, vote getting and money raising. Like it or not the phone is a legitimate form of marketing and fund raising and it will never be done away with. - LarryHanging up does not terminate the call from these slimeballs. Computer generated calls should be outlawed. At least if there is a person on the line you can insist that they remove your number from their list.

- BobGot a call last week. I consider them as organized crime people as they won't ID themselves. Don't call them back. Should you answer, make sure they ID themslves. Of course you don't see their names on call display, so you have the right to tell them you don't believe them. I sure as hell don't.
- Kittyhad a miss call on this number yesterday, did not pick up and they haven't called back since.
- ZaphodReceived a call from 1-888-688-0709, which I missed. I've added their phone number to the contacts on my cell phone, and set the ring tone to a silent one, so I don't hear my phone ring if they call.
You can download a silent ringtone from:

Another option (which worked for me in the UK) is to call the company and get through to a person. Advise them that you do not wish them to call you, and if they do they agree to pay you for your time, to the tune of $500 per call. Funnily enough the company I tried this on in the UK stopped calling me.- Caller: EKOS Research
- mattThese jerks called today and left a message, I didn't listen to it and deleted it right away. I called the # back and told them to F%&%k Off. I'm now going to call the 888 # many times so it will cost them.

- AngryWhy are government polls EXEMPT??? For what good reason?
Shift work is now a known carcinogen because Melatonin gets messed up - what is the government doing to protect Canadian shift workers (our doctors, nurses, oil field workers, police and more) from charities and political party surveys during the day? When I'm on night shifts I can hardly sleep as it is. Inevitably just after falling asleep I get either a scam call or a call from one of the 'exempt' callers like a poll on behalf of the government or a charity.
Before the election was the worst. I never slept through a single day during night shift for a couple weeks before the election. I kept getting calls about who I was going to vote for. How is this acceptable??? If I want to the world to know who I'm going to vote for - I'll become a registered member of a party. Until that point - the ballot is SECRET for a reason. That's right a SECRET ballot. It was made secret for a reason - so that people would not be discriminated against because of who they vote for. It seems in this world today I'm one of the only people left who finds these calls offensive. - RadarThey switched to a robotic survey.. Press 1 to answer x, 2 to answer Y etc.
Since you can't make them stop I've resorted to pressing random buttons and screwing up their poll. There is some joy here after all ;-)- Call type: Survey
- TMDcall several times
- FanGot a call from this number once a day in last 3 days at around 7:30pm. That is the time I was sleeping because I work in Night shift. They wake me up and there was no answer when I pick up the phone. It's really frustrating, I cannot go back to sleep after the call.
