- Me Too| 1 replyI got two charges as well on 22.12.10. One was for approximately $87.00 and the other around $2.95 anyway the amount added up to around $91.00. Rang my credit union and cancelled my card. It was Visa and now looking at the above complaints, yes I did order some ACAI Berry junk a number of months ago and never received the item but did get charged for the post and handling at the time. Now this. It didnt hit me that once they had the account number they could then charge anything they wanted against it. A learning curve of course. Visa is supposed to reimburse when all the paperwork is done. Cancelling and completion of paperwork is a pain at this time or any time of the year. Consequently no more overseas orders from me, or locally either.

- sue replies to Terry| 2 repliesyes! ive been had too, twice november and december .Thought i was getting a free trial of acia berry but i thought wrong. Two lots of money and to make matters worse from two different banks in total around £300.I feel such a mug.Ive stopped my cards and hope this will solve my problem. My bank say ive got to show proof that ive sent an email to this company and return any products ive recieved.Easier said than done when you don't know who to contact.Thank god for this site because i'm printing off this page and taking it to my banks today
- Nky_manchyMy hubby ordered the trial acai berry in october from MAXDIET and we thought that was the end of it. I checked my cc (capitalone) online and found two debits for £1.97 ($2.95) and £23.93 ($35.81) from ELGTECH 888-729-1134 HASLEMERE SUR 00000, both taken out on 23/12/2010. They would have stolen much more if my credit card wasn't maxed out. however, they threw my card over the limit and i got charged an overlimit charge of £12 by capitalone.
Never heard of them, googled them and got this website.
Called capitalone immediately and they refuse to report it as a fraud, they claim its a disputed purchase transaction. i confirm to them that i did not purchase any other product from this secret company but they claim i bought a product from this same company (acai berry) and i'm paying for the product(s). They maintained that they will not block the account from future debits as its not a fraud.
So i am not getting a refund, and i have to pay the excess plus overlimit charge just becos of a crappy credit card company.
I must lay a formal complaint somwhere becos this can not keep happening.- Caller: No one called me
- RayboI also got charged 2 charges 2.95 and 74.26 and it is the same number 888-729-1134 and the same description ELGTECH 888-729-1134 HASLEMERE SURGB as people have mentioned. It was charged on 12/20/2010. It is a SCAM! I have alerted Direct Merchants HSBC so they are aware of this identity theft. It was also originated from the AKAI berries [***]. I canceled with them in Sept and they said they would give me a credit and they never did. The first charge was disputed and credited by HSBC. Now they are charging it back. I have disputed it again. If it shows up again I will cancel my card.
- HOW CAN WE FIND THEM?| 1 replyYes. I'm another victim. The last transaction that I used my PC MasterCard was at our local Loblaws. The fraud took place while I was on holiday south. The number that the fraud department gave me at PC/MC was 1-888-729-1134. After checking this I discovered it was not a valid number. They are now trying to locate them and close them down.
If anyone has any ideas on how we can find these guys, please let me know.- Caller: Credit card transaction: President's Choice Master Card
- JODYWith Christmas it took me awhile to realize I hadn't made a charge to "Elgtech" for $59.97; then I went on line and found out what had happened. Is there anything we can do?
- JSHeilI'm not getting calls from this number but I'm having charges made to my bank account with this number connected. When I try to call it to find out where these charges are coming from I get a message that this number has been temporarily disconnected.
- Karen replies to DianaSame thing has happened to me. My last debit card usage was for gas at a Shell station in Lovelock, NV. I called my bank and my card has now been cancelled, plus I was told to file a report with the local law enforcement office so I can fill out a fraud packet the bank is sending me. Hopefully, these people get caught!
- Holly BennettI had a fraudulent charge to my card of $68 something and another of $2.15 from ELGTECH with the number 1-888-729-1134. My online access was blocking me, so after getting this number from the bank, I called and got a "no longer in service" message. I called my customer service rep back, and they have closed out my account.

- Chris W replies to Temple| 3 repliesI have just found the same entry on my creditcard. We bought vitamins from a company in October that seems to be associated with the scam. The entry on my statement is the 29th December 10, so they are still at it. Now I will have to wait until the banks open to fix this, what a pain, I hope they get caught soon.
- Jim replies to sue| 1 replyIf you ordered the free trial of colon cleanse. there is a notation, in very fine print I might add,,that you will be charged app 200 CAD for access to the website. You have to call within 3 days to cancel
- L Milucci replies to Chris Myers| 2 repliesThe got me today for59.98 same thing on my account but they will not get the money because it was in a pending status and my bank stopped canceled my debt card and it said the same thing ELGTECH 888-729-1134
- StaceyB replies to sidrarose| 1 replyAfter recently reviewing our bank statements we noticed a charge for $80.54 to the same company ELGTECH. We searched the internet and found this page full of similar complaints and a 1-800 number that matched the one on our bank statement. When we called it said the number was temporaily out of service. It is aggrivating to think that someone is trying to take what we work so hard for. The bank will know about this immediately. Does anyone have any info on what this company is, how many have been victimized, and if/when they are going to be stopped?
- NatalieAlthough the address is UK based, it's a US-originating scam. If you've made any payments to a health supplement company (online most likely) then this company has passed on your credit card details to other companies which are helping themselves to your money!
Call your bank, cancel your card, and be very, very careful with online payments in future.
All the best, - Erin| 1 replyI was just charged $87 and the $2 and I tried to call the number that was listed and it is temporarily disconnected.
- JohnMy credit card shows this transaction ELGTECH 888-729-1134 - HASLEMERE SUR for $49.95. I also have a charge from charge from an unknown herbal supplier. Neither of these are legitimate.
