- WesA lady with a hispanic accent said she was with Capital One and was calling about my credit card. She said I had an unpaid balance of $34.78 butF3N4 that she was calling to offer me .....I cut her off at this point and told her that I didn't have an unpaid balance of any kind on my Capital One card and hadn't used it in several years.
At this point she started stuttering and said oh I must have the wrong person. Were you born in 1970 and I told her not by a long shot, and I told her that I believed this was a scam and that I was reporting this call. At this point she said nothing so I hung up the phone.- Caller: Ostensibly Capital One.

- no longer botheredThere is a free government website www.donotcall.gov there you can list all your phone numbers- they will send you an email with a link to complete the request- this needs to be done within 72 hrs. There is a link to file a complaint as well. Keep in mind that there are people "out there" who are going to attempt to get a rise out of others- try to overlook them. Please pass this info on to friends & family- Good Luck!
- Caller: use for all undesirables
- been there done that replies to newtonI realize that you are young and apparently naive. You can block these calls but that doesn't make your debt disappear. You will understand this more fully when you go to buy a new vehicle or a homr. Also keep in mind that when you fill out an application for a job or to rent an apartment that a credit history is done. Don't do this to yourself.
- hllI received 9 phone calls from this number over the past 2 days. I do know the person that they are looking for, because he is a relative, but he does not live with me. He does not even live in the same state as I do. I had asked them to remove me from the calling list and 2 hours later I received another call asking the same information. How long have I had my phone number and do I know this person. I was then told that it would 48 to 72 hours to have my phone number removed from their list. I have filed a complaint with the FTC regarding this company. They claim to be a collection agency calling a personal business matter. But yet they call me... My advice is to just be careful when they call.

- PisseeeeeI don't usually respond to these, but after reading all the insults by the "matter then others" I decided too! I have gotten calls from this number several times ... never answer, so I can't tell you who they are, BUT I have had a Capitol One card for almost 25 years that I have paid in FULL every month since day one. If the morons who think these are really not scam artist and we should all just pay are bills your wrong....because I do pay mine!!!!! Just got another call while typing this so thought I would answer it and see...just like the posts read they asked for some bogus guy named Paul, I was very snotty and said wrong number don't call again, she apologized and said your number will be taken off the list. We will see since this has been the only number I have had in 5 years of living here....

- llllContrary to the horror stories you may have heard, debt collectors are not allowed to harass you. They are not allowed to threaten or abuse you or anyone you know in order to get "to you" nor are they allowed to call you repeatedly. They cannot threaten you with legal action or wage garnishment unless they are allowed by law and actually intend to follow through.
