After days of putting up with the repeated calls to my home number (which defaults to a fax machine) I finally answered today.  The first time there was nobody on the other end.

About an hour later they called back.  After a short pause a woman came on the line and asked for an individual by name.  The person who they were asking for was my ex-wife, who has never lived at this address or phone number (we've been divorced for over ten years).  The woman, with an Indian accent, never stated what organization she represented until I asked her, and then stated "Allied Interstate."  I asked if she was as debt collector, and she stated they were a debt collection organization calling on behalf of capital one.  I stated that nobody by that name lived here, never has and never would.  She wanted to know if I knew that person (was tempted to give her the ex's phone number but maintained the high road), I responded by informing her that I was a Federal Law enforcement agent (not true), and that if they called here again I would notify both the FTC and the FBI.  She verified my phone number for removal, then asked whether it was a cell phone.  I told her I wouldn't answer that and again reiterated my threat to turn them over to federal authorities.  

If they call again and the caller is a woman, I think I'll turn the tables and start by asking her what she's wearing, and if she wants to take it off and talk dirty to me.

We'll see what happens next.

PLEASE HELP  get this company to stop making calls all day every single day of the week from around 7a.m. till 9p.m.  I have the caller blocked but our phone still rings once each time they call and it's driving us crazy!!!!!!  No one ever says anything if we answer.

i keep getting these calls asking for a person who does not live here. very annoying...

MOST EXCELLENT response to the caller!!!!!  No one ever says anything when they call here (10-15 times a day), but if they ever do I will respond similar to how you did.  Good job!  Have they ever called back?

We've been call free for about 8 hours now....

My cell phone has this number come up 8-10 times a day... I have Capital One card but I don't have a balance on it!  I just hit "ignore" when it rings or just turn my phone off... wish it would just quit!

This call keeps coming into my 14 year old son's cellphone, asking for some woman.  We have told them that she must have given them the wrong #, but the calls keep coming.

This is a scam by someone purporting to be Capital One collections.   Do Not give out your personnal info.   If you have questions concerning a Capital One account, use the number on the back of your card.

I started recieving calls from them the day I was assigned my new phone number from the phone company. They were calling for a Derek. I don't know a Derek and I have never owned a Capital One card, I told the guy that I was just assigned this phone number and that he must be calling for the person who had it before me. He said he would take my number out of their system. (I don't know if he actually did or not)

This is actually Capital One, some of the numbers show up with Capital One on the caller ID, but some don't. Don't assume it's a scam because you could really screw your credit up by not paying the money you owe, do some research before you decide it's a scam.

Just like everyone else here, this number calls CONSTANTLY-- every half hour, every day. No one is on the the line when I answer. When I return the call, the reps don't seem comfortable with disclosing information about their company-- supervisors names, business name or location (though I have got the name Allied International and a statement that they are based in India). I went on a retaliation binge one day and called the number constantly for over an hour making obnoxious sounds very loud when someone answered. This stops the calls for about a week before it starts up again. Not once have I been able to get a rep to put me through to a supervisor, the reps always claims the supervisor is busy.....

This number calls at least 15 times a day from 7 in the morning until after 10 at night. No one is there when I answer. When I call the number back, they refuse to put me through to a supervisor. They also refuse to disclose information about what company they represent.

Got 3 calls this afternoon from this #.  Don't have a Capital One card either.  Finally answered and the lady identified herself as from Capital One debt collection.  Told her I don't have a Capital One card, and to quit calling.  She asked for my Name and #.  I laughed, and told her she called me, so she has my # already, and that I would not provide her my info.  She hung up.  I also called Capital One, and they verified that I don't have an account with them, much less one in "collections".  They also verified that it is not their #, and to contact my local authorities if I suspect illegal activities.  I filed a complain with the FCC, and have referred my info to the local A.G. as he is just down the hall from me.  :)

I have had 10 calls from this number on my cell phone at all hours.  I do not answer because I do not answer calls from unknown numbers.  I want their harrassment to STOP NOW!!!!

I've been  getting calls from these pople several times a day for the past 3 weeks.  On the occasions that I answer, they ask for Cameron Young.  When I tell them I don't know that person, they immediately hang up.

Recently I attempted to intercept them before they hung up and asked them to remove my number, as I am not Cameron Young.  The woman responded in the sketchiest way--she said, "I'll give you a number to call to do that."  She started telling me the number and then disconnected the call halfway though!

The last time they called, I was depserate to keep them on the phone long enough to have an actual conversation with them so when the woman called and said "Hello, Cameron Young?"  I said "Yes."  As soon as she started launching into her spiel about how I had an outstanding balance on my exploitative subprime credit card, I interrupted her and said, "Look, i am not Cameron Young.  You need to stop calling thsi number."  She actually got really angry with me for "misrepresenting" myself, but finally agreed to remove the number from the list.

That was yesterday.  Today I have been called by them 4 times already, and it's only 2:30.

They state they are capital one, but don't have any information.  They keep phishing for information.  I think they may be an outside company that capital one hires, but per federal laws provide them with little information.  I explained to the operator several times I am not that person.  I live alone and they are looking for a woman.  They state they will remove my number, but within weeks the calls return.  I just filed a complaint with the FTC.  They won't stop and I am going for some money now.  If it Capital One, I could get up to $10,000 per phone call if they continue to harass me.  You have rights.  Register for the do not call list and file a complaint if they won't stop calling after you have asked.  The link is below.

Received numbers call from the number and would not displose who they represent just kepp saying it was and emergency.

They are harrasing my wife ,and if it doesn't stop my attorney general will be getting a call.....
