So TRUE...do not believe the commercial..you are hired as a telemarketer and then you give up because you are losing even more money and time!  See their website for the up close details and what your day entails if you're hired which will take more than 3 months after you are eligible...believe me!

i wanted to enroll to course.
so went for interview here in Toronto
they are located at Sheppard & Yong.
    but funny thing happened
on the stand in lobby there was a different company name instead of haverhill
so like if i need to go to 7 floor office # 72 it`s will say
floor 7 # 72 haverhill right no apparently not
    it was totally difrent company
so haverhill for some reason lied about they location.
at this moment i thanked higher power for stopping me loose hard earned money.

The problem is that no one knows what they are looking for because it is not that concrete! It is too abstract and subjective to be clear like a normal course. I have worked hard and know how to follow directions but when directions change or are extremely vague then no one can follow them. I have a Ph.D. and two Masters degrees and believe me I know how to work hard. They must have liked your picture.....

Funny that you say that they don't really grade your work because the teacher marked me down for not turning on all the lights in an outdoor space called a "lanai" that has nothing but pure Florida sunshine. I feel that if the sun is not enough light for her then I just give up! The room was totally outdoor screened in room. I don't think she was looking at the picture nor reading the words about the space. Amazing isn't it?

I don't even know where to begin...the responses they gave you about "turning on all the lights in your lanai" are the same they gave me on each of the exercises #1-3 and I had ALL the lights turned on, but when you have the natural light coming in too, sometimes the pics can be a little darek. But..are we being graded on the quality of our photography or the quality of our staging.  Also, I was told by Meredith (and Ellen) before I purchased the course that a) Folks in the states were being hired for $31.45 as Independent Contractors (and without Medical benefits). I was also told (cause I asked this on 2 different occassions) that Haverhill sources jobs for you and that you do NOT have to do your own marketing and find your own jobs. As an Independent Contractor why would I work for Haverhill otherwise? I come from a 23 year corporate background with Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies. I have dealt with Executives in corporate America as my clients and Executives in the Financial Services Sector, I have been Presidents of Chambers of Commerce and of Rotary Clubs, and have a strong talent for staging and design as evidenced by friends and family for years. I am NOT a bozo nor an uneducated idiot.  I embarked on this course with a former colleague/friend of mine who shares a similar passion for design. We were excited to both step back from Corporate America after so long and embark upon exciting new careers. However, after plunking down our $1,000 each, and beginning through our course work, we both found the course materials to be very "rinky-dink" to put it plainly. After receiving our scores back, we were FLOORED at the run-around we got trying to get our homeowners and trades peoples credentials (for Exercises 1,2,3 and 6) verified as is required. Haverhill holds back 12 points (of 80)for verification of these credentials. They say the contact forms are systematically generated after the credential info is input to the system, but keep NO record of them. Neither my friend's nor my credentials have every received letters. We then asked if we could send the letters out ourselves and were told, yes, but they didn't have a template we could use???  They also told us via the FAQ section to have the letters sent to a Judith Carillo. In order to avoid another black hole, we called Haverhill only to be told that Judith was on extended Personal Leave...well, how (by who) were our letters to be received/validated for our other 12 points??  Questions we submit through the FAQ are not answered.  when you ask your instructor to call you to discuss, they never call.  You pay $1,000 and get the run-around. Don't let anyone fool you...this is NOT A DIFFICULT COURSE.  The photo's I submitted were far more impressive than those used in the telecourse and I did not get 8's, 9's or 10's on them. Remember they hold back 3 points each also for credetial verification. They also used the "turn all lights on" with me also...but ALL lights were on. Did they mark off points for that?  It would be rediculous to do so, but if you are a company looking NOT to pass people them I guess you can use any excuse if the student can't dispute with you. Lastly, I personally feel that Haverhill bought advertising on HGTV to build a sense of Legitimacy of their course offering for this scam. At a $1,000 a pop, their rolling in the dough. I got in under the Employment Guarantee and Meredith indicated there were no other conditions other than passing with 80%. I feel that Haverhill was passing folks in the beginning and now wants to slow it down and is using their very vague and subjective grading techniques (without the ability to speak with your instructor) to not pass folks. Either one of two things are happening: 1) This is a scam or 2)This is a very poorly run, unprofessional company. There really are no other explanations.

They did me the same way about the tradesmen's credentials. The teacher went so far as to say that the window light in the lanai was not enough light when taking a picture. "Turn on all lights" It was high noon in Florida sun. What can I say?  (Screened in outside room that doesn't have a window because it is all screening in a framed walls!!!) Please make note that the "after" pics in the teleclass don't all have their lights on!!!! These are their examples. Note: These are examples you did not get before doing the books but rather after you turned in your work! What kind of teaching is this?
I also was marked down for having cutlery in a table setting. Teacher said it was a 'safety hazard' and I should not have knives at a table setting. (what about the fork?) When I protested that it was in the section on "How to set a proper table" on Page 9 in 'Secrets of the Trade'. Teacher said that that was for design and redesign not staging, but there is no comment in the book concerning her comments. She makes it up as she goes.
I also questioned that she marked me down on the decluttering for decluttering too much.....wow need I say more. I scored 49 out of 70 just so I would not be able to pass no matter what I did on the test even a perfect 30 would just give me shy 1 point of passing.
I have a Ph.D. and two Masters and more and never flunked a course. I think I have proven I can follow directions and read books that tell me that knives belong at a table setting and at the least look at the picture and see the knife in their place setting. WoW! I cannot say I am impressed.

Interesting? If they are expanding, then why did they put on Haverhill  bulletin board that they closed the Oregon office in the US. This is their only office that I know about in the US and it just closed....expanding??? I think not.... I understand that they are moving now in their Canada office but as a student I cannot get them to tell me where....I find that interesting....

No, in the Universities, they teach you properly in the first place. By that I mean, they show you how and give you examples before you do the assignments! They actually teach you....not you teaching yourself and then find out later what the teacher expects. I have been trained as a teacher and trainer. I have so many degrees, it would intimidate the best of them. It is a backwards system so you will fail and get frustrated that you weren't taught properly in the first place.

I saw that so called good work you do in the teleclass examples.....please it was pitiful.........and by the way you should 'turn all the lights on' in your examples as you tell us to do. This is a middle school course that is so subjective the teacher passes who she wants to pass.

This is awful! I felt for it, took the exam and test. Re-took the test and now waiting for the 2nd grade. Their answers are typically vague, and it's unfortunate for me to have had to spend that kind of money specially when I am unemployed!!

You need to protest all payments from your credit card company. I did that for a completed course (and made the necessary score for employment) and got all the money reversed back from December 08. I was never contacted by them for employment. Everyone needs to do this.
