I had the same experience as Amanda. I also pressed "2" to ask that I be put on their do not call list. The woman (who spoke with an accent) got argumentative, saying she wanted to lower my credit card rate, and when I told her my rate was at 5%, she hung up. The fact that I'm on the do not call list apparently does not matter. I am convinced that this list is just a feel good measure to make us think that something is actually being done about these cretins.

First call I've received from this number, got recorded message about my credit cards. I filed a complaint with the do not call registry, since you can file complaint if it's a recorded message even if you're not on the list, or if you haven't waited the 31 days after registering.

This number call continually and I am on the DO-NOT-CALL LIST.  The number is identified as: CREDIT SERVICES.  It doesn't help to try and stop them, they continue to call.  Why can't criminals be stopped from pulling off these SCAMS.  They won't get my credit card number, no matter how many times they call.

I got a call from them a few days ago. I did not answer (I NEVER answer if I do not recognize the number) and they did not leave a message.

I am ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST, and I do not need assistance with credit cards.

Got a call from this number today wanting to lower my credit card rate to 6% and that I should act now before it's too late.
    ***********************************************

It's EASY to stop these kind of calls:
I just keep a loud whistle (like a referre uses) by my phone. When I get a scammer, they get the whistle. Long and LOUD!   It works! (and I feel better too)

Another robo call from "Heather" to lower my credit card rates.  It seems to me the last time the idiot called (months ago) it was from Florida, but the caller I.D. this time said "cell phone CA."  I had hoped that by now Heather and her 40 thieves had been put out of business.  No such luck.  I hung up.

    Hi Andy,
I would advise you to call the Credit Card companies and have them issue you new cards with new numbers. If she gave out any banking information, I would go to the bank and have them give you new accounts.  By alerting the CC companies and banks, they will help you keep track of any unusual activities against your account.  I know this is a lot of work, BUT it is better to be safe than sorry.

In the future my advise is to get a phone line with caller ID. If they don't identify the company and number, don't even both to anwser the call.  When you see a number you don't recognize, let your answering machine pick up the message.  If it is a scam they won't bother to leave a message. Always check the number.  You can go on the internet (libraries have them if you don't have one at home) and use www.google.com.  Enter the number and if it is a SCAM number it will show a number of sites where people have reported the scam. If it is legit the name of the company will come up and you can find out more about it.

In either case, don't give out any of your personal information to anyone. With the bad economy, the number of scams have gone up expotentially.  It is rather sad that people have such bad ethics nowdays.  I wish you all the best of luck.

BTW, I was on this site because I just got a call by these people.  Being savvy about these things I just talk down the number and looked it up on the internet.

I received a call today, after having received one earlier this week.  In my earlier call I pressed 1, then asked politely to be taken off the call list.  They hung up on me.  Today, I had a few minutes of time, so I asked all kinds of questions about the service, the company and the opportunity.  Eventually, the guy caught on that I was wasting his time and he ditched me.

I realize everyone does not have the time to jerk them around, but perhaps it will help.  I called the number to be taken off their list, but evidently it hasn't happened yet.

Better yet, call your Representative whenever you receive a SCAM call and tell your Rep. you want Congress to put a stop to this nonsense.  When Congress critters begin receiving a complaint for each crap call "We the People" receive, they'll do something about it!
