    Its worth answering this call. I had set up a payment to pay off my Mayors account as soon as i received the card. They had my checking account number wrong so it never went through. Answer the damn phone call and pay off your debt before it goes on your credit. If you are using credit and not paying stop being a bum. You borrow money, they want it back and youre mad at them? How dare they!

    I'm having the same thing happening to me with the same 3 phone numbers, it's been going on for over a week. I have no debt. I have no idea on how to stop this. I'm going to call the police and see if they have any suggestions.

    Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

    Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
    December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

    — filed under: Press Release

    The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

    According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

    The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
    *****************************
    Section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf requires 3rd-party debt collectors to give debtors written notice of debt (the key word is *shall*) :
    "§ 809. Validation of debts
    (a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing—
    (1) the amount of the debt;
    (2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
    (3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
    (4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
    (5) a statement that, upon the consumer’s written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor."

    Please explain why they have now changed it from being able to make your payment up until 11:59pm on your due date to 5:30pm. And RJ for your information. My husband was active duty for ten years. 6.5 were in a special unit w a specialized skill set. When he got out he could not find work bc he either didn't have civilian experience or was way too qualified. It took him 4 months to find work then got laid off bc he was the last hired 3 months later a week after closing on our house. He just found a job this past January add in the govt canceling unemployment extensions. And then the army screwed up our insurance so we had to pay out of pocket for 2.5 months for mine which comes to $2512.32 and u are only reimbursed for the copay portion. So yes we are behind in almost everything but I send what I can. This company doesn't care. My husband deployed 2-3 times a year and there is truly jack for Vets when they get out depending on what your MOS was. Majority of companies said they participated in Helmets to Hardhats just for the tax breaks. So takes your holier than thou attitude and shove it. Bc if it weren't for my husband and thousands of other men and women protecting and fighting for this Nation you wouldn't even have the luxury of being able to be an #$$. I love how people automatically assume you ran up ur  credit cards buying frivolous crap. When the truth is some of us used it for medicine, food on the table, gas in the car so my husband could go on interviews and oh my god yes clothes bc the man wore uniforms everyday. So grow up and God bless.

    There is an android app called Mr Numbers I believe it is. And it is free.
    I don't deny I owe them and Lord knows I send what I can even if its a few dollars. But I'm sorry unless we win the lottery my situation will not change in 24 hrs. And I have spoken to every company they know what is going on. I started making vinyl decals and logos to help bc I am not able to work. But when I call you st 9:00 am IG doesn't mean call me twice that very same day. Or 3 -4 times a day everyday even when u answer.

    My account is current, no payment is or has been late, yet they call me every hour. It has strained my marriage because my husband accused me of hiding financial information from him. He doesn't believe a credit issuer would ever call if you aren't delinquent. I wish I could sue them for harassment.

    You can. Seek a FDCPA/TCPA attorney.

    File complaints on them. Also send them a cease & desist letter via US certified or return receipt mail.

    First of all, I'm not a collector, but the federal DNC list is for telemarketers, not collectors. I agree on set time frames and amount of calls per day, but most collectors call centers are registered out of country and don't fall under FCC guidelines. It sucks, but the collectors know this, that's why they outsource collections.

    I'm not sure why you seem to be proud to be a deadbeat. No where do you say that you don't owe the money. Every deadbeat like you just makes others pay a higher interest rate. Why don't you figure out a way to do something productive instead of deriving pleasure from refusing to pay your debt?

    Oh an not only that but I am so stupid I replied to a post that is just days short of being 4 months old.  Maybe I should spend less on illegal substances and then my thought processes would improve and I would again be able to pay my bills.

    You ask who would work as a debt collector. Maybe someone who needed a job to pay their own bills. It's not a job I'd want, but if it was the only job I could get I would take it until something better turned up. It sure beats being on disability. I was on federal disability for a while and taking money without working for it sucks. My back was injured at work but after six months I went back to my government jobb because my back hurt whether I was at home or at work. My god, how much of a loser do you have to be to avoid paying bills that you chose to run up? My god, how much of a loser to you have to be to hide behind a disability to avoid paying your debts and getting a job that you could manage with your disability? You might want to talk to my cousin who has managed to work with her disability. She has been in a wheelchair since she was 6 and is blind. She's eligible for retirement but wants to keep working.

    Well I for one would never stoop so low as to become a criminal debt collector.  Maybe you have no morals, but the rest of us do.  Being on SSI or SSD is not something someone should be ashamed of as it is because of a medical condition that was probably not their fault, and a condition by the way that would last for over a year.  What you were on was workman's comp because you were injured on the job.  I doubt you just simply went back no matter what, but because the workman's comp was going to stop paying.  That is assuming that you had a "government job" but from the comments at the end of your post, it seems you are condemning people because you are currently employed as one of those criminal debt collectors.  The kind that violate every legal and moral law in the book in order to earn their commission and they do that by stealing money from the uninformed public.

    Fun fact: disabilities vary. Good for your cousin, but not all people CAN work. Also, your cousin most likely gets SOME form of assistance. Disability is disability for a reason. It's unfortunate that some people abuse it, but don't assume everyone does. But since you allegedly have some sort of "government job" you should already know all this.

    Ignorance gets me every time...

    Constant calling. Every half hour to hour. I dint know this company. I know who my creditors are and who I owe. These people are on the border of harassment which is covered under the DNC list. I had a previous vendor who did the same to me and I got them to totally to stop. So, here I go again. Bye comenity!

    Come on Molly tell us more about your superhero cousin. Blind and in a wheelchair, of course she should be working.  That is really a lame disability.  Debt collection where the fast food drop outs end up.  Keep trying Molly my guess is you are as useless in your job as your attempts here.

    Molly pay attention. I did not ask who would work in debt collection. You don't seem overly bright so it is kind of expected.

    Molly, your low IQ is not a disability.  Many people addressed you with questions (below) yet you refused to answer them.  Snorting bath salts doesn't qualify as a disability either honey
