- Becky replies to Just_Me| 2 repliesI received a call from GMI (Government Mortgage Insurance Enterprises) telling me that I can earn money by acting as a third party participant in the refunding of FHA mortgages. She said I would be an Independent Contractor for the Government, earning between $400-$800 per refund as a processing fee. I told her that I will not give out my personal information over the telephone, nor will I give out my debit/checking information. She then proceeded to tell me my mailing address, name, and phone number. I asked how she knew that information about me and she responded "It was sent to me from an online resume you placed on Monster.com." I had placed my resume there about 5-6 months ago. She asked again for my debit/checking information so I can get started with my home based business, when I refused because I felt it was a scam, she told me that others that are skeptical normally purchase a "reloadable debit/credit card from Walmart or somewhere like that" to place the order. I asked for a mailing address so I could send a money order, but she said they do not accept money orders and would not give an address. When I searched the www.whitepages.com for a company name for the phone numbers that had called me, they ALL said "unavailable or unlisted." I'm glad I didn't give them any money. The numbers that called me were: 603-214-3605, 512-404-1292, and both told me to call 971-285-3130. Thanks for posting this. It has been very helpful for me and hopefully others!

- Fabu replies to sandyThanks to all of you who post on this phone number. I got this call today and since I am desperately seeking employment, I was almost duped. My gut feelings said to me "you don't have to pay for a job, especailly a government one". It felt like a scam and when I told the operator (a lady) I would not give her my personal information, she suggested that I get a prepaid VISA and call her back. I feel so much better since I checked out this site. Thanks again, working together, we can put an end, or at least slow them down,to these scammers.
- monii got a call from GMI Enterprises saying that they had a position as a Government Refund Processor and would pay between $400-$800 a refund and up to $38,900 and something a year ALL I had to do was send $79.00 for their orientation packet wich would have my SUPERVISORS number. I asked some general information about the position wich they had no clue but informed me the packet would have that information!! of course i would love for it to be true but i called the BBB and they told me it most likely was a SCAM and not to give any information. I do think the callers are unaware it is a SCAM! The BBB for CA is 209-383-3590! Good thing i didnt go through with it!

- TTA| 1 replyI got a call today(April 28 2008) from 1-213-363-5114 , and I was told the same thing to call 1-971-285-3130. The didn't even mind that I was not a US citizen or not even residing in the US, I am a Canadian citizen and they will allow me to work for the US government. That sounds very Fishy. Most probably a new type of scam.

- Teri replies to TTAI just got the call. I received the same exact "line" that you all received. When I pressured her for more info, she said "I have 10 people on hold wanting to do this. I have to hang up if you're not going. Really strong pressure. Have no idea if this girl was clueless and just wanted to get more people signed up for her commission, which I'm sure they are being paid.
I'm glad I found this. Thank you everybody! - EZ E| 1 replyJust got a second call from these GMI Enterprise people. I would like to know if there is a government agency that can verify that this company represents them and does work for them. Hmmm, wonder if HUD could tell us, they're a gov. agency that deals with housing. Think I'll give them a call.

- concerned ladyI got the same call today and it sounded interesting to me so when i ask her if i could send a money order they said they didn't except them had to be credit card and told me the same thing i read earlier under comments here. So i thought i would go to the web site to check them out and when i seen all these comments im glad i didn't purchase a card to give them the $79.00. It's so sad you have people out here doing this scamming for money from people, we are people searching for a honest internet job cause we need a job, not to be scammed.
Thank you all for all your
comments they are very much
appreciated.- Caller: GMI
- Not himGot a recorded call from 760-528-8187. The operator was Kayla #133. Reinterated the $400-$800 per successful recovery from the message. Wanted personal info and credit or debit number to have the orientation package sent. When I asked what number to call back, she gave me the 971-285-3130 number. I did not give these people my money.

- P PhillipsPaid my $69 fee about 10 days ago... Got my package today. Package clearly states that U will B working as self employed, not an employee for the government or GMI. Clearly U have the opportunity 2 make $$ but it could take a while b/c in order to make any real $$ U have to spend a little. If U dont have the time or money 2 put into this by all means dont do it. Like my momma always said baby aint nothing in life free!!
- Anonym replies to BeckyI received qa call on 5-27-08 stelling me how I could make $400-$800 per government FHA grant processed. I usually do not give out personal info but have ben very sick and have used up all of my savings. This sounded great and I didnt hesitate to provide my info. They didnt hesitate to withdraw the funds from my account! (within 24 hrs. I now go on-line and se how many people have been approached by these sleazebags. Please learn from my lesson and hang-up up on these types of calls, the saying is true and still stands... IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS.

- losayt replies to tattooI think that I have to agree with tattoo. My reason behind this train of thought is this: 1)It is nowhere to be found on the BBB website. 2)I called information regarding the 971-285-3130 number for the state or zip code so I could look it up on the BBB website. I was told that this was either a pay phone or a cell in Portland, Oregon. 3)However, when I looked up the number that the call came from (603-214-3523), it was listed in Errol, NH. Although it was a land line, I did not pay for the information as to who the number belonged to.
In summation, I do NOT believe that a legitimate business would be operating with a cell or pay phone. Do you?? - LEI received a call from 903-214-3523 to work from home as an independent contractor processing Refunds for people who had paid up their mortgage. per refund I would receive from $400 to 800 per processed refund. and that I would have to pay $69.00 Fee for them to send me a list of names to start. I didn't believe and told the receptionist I would call back later if interested.

- Carolina| 1 replyThey have been trying to reach me for several days to let me know about a government job that I can do at home and make $38,943 a year, part-time or full-time. Tammy said if I send $69 they will send me a list of telephone numbers in my area for people who have paid off FHA loans and are due a refund from the federal government but they do not know about the money. The agent's number is 67010 and the telephone number for GMI Enterprises in Portlant, Oregon is 971-285-3130. This is the second call I've gotten and I think it is a scam. I'm on the DO-NOT-CALL list but she said I had filled out an application on the Internet. DID NOT

- Daniel replies to Esperance colas| 8 repliesYou asked if this is legit or not. I will tell you. I got tired of all the know-it-alls posting "It's a scam!" (without even knowing anything about it, or knowing anything about the company) so I just ordered the package about 1 hour ago, by calling (971) 285-3130.
Just to let you know, this company DOES offer a money-back guarantee, otherwise I woulnd't have done it...(I can still take a chargeback if it's a total bunch o' nonsense, or if it seems to difficult to get my money back in case of dissatisfation) but at this point, I think it's legit.
I mentioned to the guy at the phone center (who took my order) that I was wary that it might possibly be a scam. He brought up a very valid point - Scammers do NOT give you callback numbers and they don't take credit cards (since most of the sales would result in chargebacks and also credit card transactions can be easily traced back to the scammers and arrests can easily be made by the proper authorities).
So....I will post here again in about 10 days and will let you know what is in the information packet they are sending me and I will give you the full rundown on it at that time. BTW, it cost of $69 + $10 shipping, for a total of $79. They also gave a 503 area code number for me to call for help and customer service, after I have read the refund processing manual.
Sounds good to me so far!
I will be back and keep you posted!
Dan S. - Dan S. replies to mark| 1 replyThe company is NOT GMI Enterprises, (or Gorilla Marketing, like one other person guessed incorrectly) but instead they are:
GOVERNMENT MORTGAGE INSURANCE, INC.
They are not a paying member of the BBB, but, out of all the sales they have had in the last 3 years, they have only had TWO complaints, and they either resolved or satisfied both of them. I would say that is an excellent record for just about any company:
The BBB processed a total of 2 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total of 2 complaints closed in 36 months, 2 were closed in the last year.

The company has also informs their customers that they will provide a FULL REFUND, if the customer does not wish to continue the business at ANY TIME.
All they have to do is send back the list of customers to the company, and get a refund.
Hope this info helps everyone!
