I received a recording, it said if I was really interested in the program to push the #1 on the phone to talk with a person. I did and got a girl who said she was from GMI Enterprises. Right away she wanted my credit card # as there was a $69.00 charge plus $10 fee for shipping and handling so the orientation packet could be mailed to me. She said, I would be a refund processor for the the 3rd party recovery program. It was a government program and they would mail me a list of names of people who were owed money from the government these people had paid off their mortgage and were due a refund from the government. I would be a an Independent contractor and could make $38,000.00 a year. I asked her some questions that she could not answer she said she was a call center and they had no one that could explain the program to me. That I was taking up her time and she had a lot of other people holding. I asked for a number to call back she gave me (971)285-3130.  I told her this just didn't sound right, I did not give her my card card number. Then I thought I will look it up on the internet and I'm sure glad I did.   Thanks to all of you!

It seems to me that a crime of scamming had been committed. My advise to all of you who got scammed is contact your State Consumer Agency or Federal Trade Commission and file a complaint. Summarizes in your complaint in a form of self expression all of the information this perpetrator had provided and promised. As well as misinformation regarding compensation that would be made to you, which includes the check that you will allegedly receive from the U.S. Treasury after the process of calling beneficiaries once you submit service render reimbursement.  It's pretty obvious that U.S. Treasury would not cut or issue you any check pertaining to Mortgage Refund because GMI Enterprises claims is related to housing, and only FHA or U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has authority to deal such Mortgage or relating to a housing, first time Borrower or Buyer operation. Since the perpetrator uses a federal agency to bilked you in order to satisfy their own greed, the type action committed constitutes a Federal Crime under Title 18 United States Code.. Again, compile your grievances altogether and report it to the proper authority located in your state. Good luck  to all of you..

Well I almost got scammed by these fools but after reading all of the other replies, I hurried up and put stop-payment on that check.  I will keep that stop payment on my account forever if I have to

The BBB has always done national searches on work at home opportunities. To date, we have not found any legit. Unless you may know medical transcription, and you approach a doctor's office in your area and offer to work from home, or you sell Avon or MaryKay or something on that order..anything else..more than likely you are being scammed! As the saying goes "If it sound too good to be true, it probably is!". Do you not question the fact that they are having YOU send them money to work for them? If you work for a company--if for any reason there are fee's involve (which really, there shouldn't be unless they need you to do a drug screening or back ground check) then they should deduct that amount from your first paycheck. Plus, why would the government solicit for work? They don't! They have no need to. There are plenty of people willing to work for the government and get benefits as well. Just because a company only has a few complaints with the BBB..doesn't mean it's a great company! Some people do not bother to call the BBB to file a complaint. They might not want to take the time out to do it, or they realize then that it is a scam and figure they won't get their money back anyways, or they might even be embarassed that they were scammed. The BBB can only list complaints that were fully processed. Sometimes complaint forms are mailed out to consumers, but not returned. The BBB cannot list any complaints until they  receive the form, filled out, back from the consumer. Just because the company says "Money back guarantee"--that really doesn't mean anything--especially if it's not really a company but a scam artist. Even if you use your credit card--the credit card company may let you dispute the charge but that doesn't necessarily mean you won't end up paying for it in the long run.

Every day, ads for work-at-home jobs appear in newspapers across the country as well as in national magazines and on the Internet. Some of the offers include stuffing envelopes, assembling products, reading books, reviewing movies, medical billing, or selling advertising on the Internet.

The BBB suggests using extreme caution when responding to any such offer. While ads claim high earnings and short hours with little or no experience, BBB files nationwide indicate no evidence of anyone making the promised money. Rarely, if ever, are these ads an offer of legitimate employment. Generally, these "jobs" require up-front fees for information or supplies, and only the person who ran the ad makes any money.

You should be aware that the United States Postal Inspectors regularly investigate these fraudulent schemes, and that you risk investigation and possible prosecution by postal or other law enforcement agencies if you become involved in one of these schemes.

And remember, if it was that easy to sit home and make great money, wouldn't we all being doing that? But, it's NOT that easy--because they're scams. So unless you want to be a "scam artist" and risk getting arrested, you need to check out companies with the BBB. If the BBB doesn't have a report, all you need to do is explain the kind of company it is and what they want you to do, and I'm sure the BBB will have the information to give to you. Also, companies can be looked up under their name, phone number and address. Several companies (and scam artists) may go by more than one name as well as phone number.

A lady called and said she was from the US government and that they had legitimate job openings for data processors to refund paid mortages.  She asked for $69 dollars and said that she was just a call center person who only took the order.  She had no knowledge of the company and the only one who could answer our questions was the supervisor that we would be able to speak with after we paid the $69 dollars.  Then we asked her again if she was with the US government and then changed her story to a third party company.  Needless to say, we decided not to go through with this, especially after researching it and looking at this site.  Be careful.

THIS IS NOT FOR REAL.  THEY ARE THIEVES AND LIARS AND IF YOU SEND $469 + $10 YOU WILL REGRET IT!

If the Government is looking for Processors they would advertise the jobs themselves.  Don't fall for this
