    BEWARE!
My daughter and son-n-law got calls from 555-555-5555 and 999-999-9999. The message stated they were calling on behalf of IAA Credit Union. They stated they their debit card had been cancelled and that there was a problem with their information and they needed to call back and verify.  THIS IS A SCAM.....called IAA they said report to ATTORNEY GENERAL's office.  However, there is a website that you can put in any number and mask your original number you are calling from......However, everything can be traced these days......DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION..No Name, Address, ANYTHING>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

My wife also got the same text about a half hour before me, but the web site and dollar amount were different. We both use the same mobile carrier. Telus has admitted that in the past hackers have broken in and spammed a large number of customers.

I keep getting calls from this number 701-625-5806. When I answer, there is silence and then I am hung up on after exactly 6 seconds each time. It calls me almost every day. It is SO annoying! And if I call back a missed call, it says "Thank you for calling back..." and then says if you don't want to be informed about their special offers you can press "1" to be put on a do-not-call list... But I have done this a few times before, and they NEVER stop calling!

got a blocked call! Why didn't TrapCall unblock the number?
When you first receive a call, you must reject or ignore the call. At this point the call is sent to TrapCall for unblocking and then sent back to ring your phone with the number unblocked. Incoming calls are not immediately unblocked without first being sent to TrapCall.

I got a call from an "Unknown" number but it came back as (999) 999-9999. What happened? "Unknown" numbers are actually different than "Blocked" and "Restricted" numbers! "Blocked" and "Restricted" calls typically indicate that the person wishes to hide their Caller ID, while "Unknown" calls typically indicate that the telephone company may be having a problem with the Caller ID number. "Unknown" calls typically come from VoIP lines and international callers where the number may not be in the proper 10 digit format.

My boyfriend just got a call from this number in the middle of dinner. The girl on the other end asked for steve. My boyfriends name is michael. I'm willing to bet that these are blocked skype calls, or something of that sort. I think all the women who see this on their husband's phone bill for excessive amounts of time should just ask.

We just received a call from 1-999-999-9999.  They stayed a long time on the answering machine, but left no message.  We've had these calls before--I assume they are a credit company looking for someone who may have lived here years ago.  (sigh)  I wish they'd get their records straight.  Every time some creditor sells their old debt list, we start getting these calls.

A series of 9's means the call was made via VoIP (Voice over IP), on a computer over the internet (telemarketers use this technique because it is much more affordable for the mass quantaties of calls they make every day). The IP to landline (including cellular phones, as they use RF to tranceive via landline switch) phone number conversion is unrecognizable, hence calls using VoIP to landline are vertually untraceable, also making these calls more secure for those seeking to remain anonymous.
