jiggimom@aol.com - Lin973-999-6091 keeps calling, seems like someone is on the other end but when I say "hello" for the third time they hang up. Why bother calling. This happens just about EVERY SINGLE DAY !!! STOP CALLING !!!
- Barrister replies to christyWhat the bill collector is doing is illegal. Call your attorney for help.
- KHey here's an idea. DON'T ANSWER if the number is unknown to you.
These jerks are getting our numbers related from our car insurance and loans. - Deb replies to toughlady55: re: 0-000-000-0000 callsYeah, so what can we do in a situation like this? Is there legal recourse? The former owner of our number is a scofflaw, and we have gotten rude calls in a cyclical pattern for FIVE YEARS!!!
Any way to make this stop short of changing our number? - yukonzach| 1 replyI wish the FTC would stop allowing "surveys" get past the DNCR listing. This is how telemarketers are getting past the Registry.
- SissyThese numbers continuously appear on my caller ID with hangups: 801-623-4621, 801623-4631,954-926-0167.
- MICHELLEI keep getting phone calls every hour from 213-228-8111 I am so tired of these phone call can anyone help me
- Crystal in KY replies to yukonzachI used to work for a survey company, and if the company is legitimate, it's not so bad. What the FTC needs to do is specify that the company needs to be licensed as a research company and NEVER sell anything. Any other call, such as a marketer saying they are surveying/researching potential buyers is still telemarketing and should have to abide by the rules of the Do Not Call list.
- Crystal in KYWith all the money that goes to the FTC from every one of my phone and cable bills, why can't they commit a department to have a place like this where people can post their complaints? And considering that early communications were so governed that they could even disconnect your phone line if you used offensive language, why can't they - at the very least - force callers to accurately represent themselves on Caller ID?
If the company had to post their actual business name and not just a state, phone number (where it was routed to or from), or some generic title like "Toll Free Call," maybe they wouldn't feel so free to reject our requests for removal. - bendisWell, calling 'them' back is not a guarantee that they will then be calling you back (perhaps again and again). They have the autodialers so it really doesn't matter if you do block your number, or if you do not call them back. The autodialers can be set to call any subset of numbers. i.e. 555-1000, then 555-1001, 555-1002, etc. (number +1). Nobody is safe, even if you are on the DNC list. In order for that list to work, all telemarketing companies must subscribe to it but, unfortunately, not all do.
- tractorHere is an idea that has worked for me. After the unwanted call ends, dial *69. This will give you the number they called from, albeit probably just a cover up number, as it is always disconnected or some other problem if you try to call it back. This way you will have a physical record of the call on your phone bill, with the time, date, and phone number. Then you will need to contact your phone service provider, and tell them that they gave you an invalid number for the return call service. They will take the charge off your bill, and you will have a record to use if you are pursuing any type of class action lawsuit or such. Also contact your state and federal representatives to let them know that laws are being broken with no consequences, and you will not vote to re-elect them if they allow this to continue. This is their job!
- burned creditI finally got these people to stop calling me!!!!!! It's been months since they called. Tonight my husband and I were checking our credit reports and there it was a bad mark on my credit for a bill that is not in my name. I'm trying to figure out what the next step should be! If anyone has any comments or suggestions they would be helpful! BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR CREDIT REPORTS!!!!!!
