- Big Owlthe best thing that i have found to weed out these callers is called Phone Tray Free, it only allows calls that you want to come through, is very configurable and works better than any pay program i have tried. I am using it for my mom and dads phone as they are older and i don't want them to get sucked into anything, it seems to be working very well, the only drawback is that the phone line has to be connected through the computer then you turn the ringer off on your phone and the Phone Tray Free rings through the computers speakers, putting it on an old desktop and that is that desktops sole function is to monitor the calls, it keeps a record of the numbers, dates, and times the calls are made and what the system does with them!!! very good product for free i have to say!!!
- Tired of the ringingThis 212-448-5501 is a problem. We have a little newborn and the constant calling is a nightmare.
- cfThere should be a way to get these scams and business to stop calling? Do they really think that you will give them information? Can't we do something as citizens to ban telemarketing all together?
- NKS| 1 replyThis is getting too much: distracting, annoying, even disturbing and all unwanted calls. No matter how "insignificant" this issue might sound to some or how some others deliberately paint this issue as such, this is NOT a problem of annoyance only. Ability to place unidentifiable calls is used widely not only by "innocent" marketers, but for criminal purposes, which makes the little benefit of it actually unimportant, and which has to give the Government legitimate grounds for taking appropriate centralized measures to protect individual and public safety. Existing laws has to be corrected and/or new law(s) have to be introduced for this matter, equal to individuals, companies and organizations, with possible rare exceptions for law enforcement and government only and only under special circumstances.
Here are some ideas:
- ALL calls have to be identifiable. Caller ID and Name (Company Name) have to be displayed (real, legally obtained, listed, and that could be tracked back). Calls from public phones/booths have to display appropriate IDs/numbers.
- Technology has to adapt to satisfy mandatory identification. (E.g.: existing devices that currently enable ID suppression have to be rendered unable to place calls without positive identification; an attempt to use such device and/or method has to be tracked and recorded at a service provider level; etc.)
- Any attempt to fake an ID/Name, use someone else’s ID/Name, illegally obtain and use right to hide Caller ID and Name has to be deemed as a punishable offense.
If a person, company or organization is legal and honest there should be no reason to hide their identity. By keeping themselves “private” they are actually violating other’s peace and privacy. (E.g., one can not drive a car without a valid license plate, or enter a plane without a valid passport/ID, etc. Calling without a Caller ID and name has to be viewed as knocking someone’s door with a full face cover mask and costume on.)

- ceo@costaricascallcenter.com| 1 replyNot all telemarketers are scammers. There are a lot of honest men and women who make a living working at call centers.
If you do not want what they are offering, kindly refuse and hang up. They will get the point that you are not interested.
http://www.costaricascallcenter.com - TRICKYRICK| 1 replyThis is funny, I was here inquiring about the # 866-233-2773.

Looks like all the reports that I have read that something could be done
FCC shut down all these reported scam numbers. - wide awake| 1 replyThe do not call registry is a dog and pony show. I work nights and can only try to sleep during the day. 888 836 4701 is the worst, I have asked them repeatedly to be taken off their list. Usually they are rude, sometimes swear, always un co-operative and unforgiving. I've not slept more then four hours a day since August and can't go on this way. I want a lawsuit!
- Leslie| 1 replyTried to report via web to Do Not Call Registry. However, for the past few days, they have been "experiencing system difficulties." Grrrr!
- Pixie| 1 replyI hate this. I study and work at home and they keep calling and calling. Once, they called at 10 pm! The problem is that one pick the phone and say I don't want it and they don't seem to understand.
- ashton replies to TRICKYRICKthey have all kinds of difficulties-----but not doing a damn thing sure isn't one of them.
- ashton replies to PixieNext time you are with friends, have a "call the do-not-call offenders party" Just put the phone numbers of offenders on speed dial and make a game of who can come up with the best "conversation." You can rate it by number of profanities, innuendos, name-calling, vocabulary usage (for the really smart peoples), threats, mom jokes, other insults...you get the idea. Just remember to *67 before you call the number so that it blocks your number.
