By calling you and you confirming your address, these scam "shipping" companies send out packages to people and then try to bill you for it over the market price. Most of the time it is nothing more than counterfeit junk they send. Then they call again after it arrives or include a Bill Invoice, making you want to call and say, "hey whats this about?". When you say you returned it or its being returned, they usually say they have a 3-5 day return policy that started when it shipped and of course a return will not arrive in time, stating you will have to pay the shipping cost. So they convince their victims to pay for it or risk being sued, that they have you recorded confirming there was an order.
Yup. And is a variation on this that is esp ugly. There are scammers that specialize in sending crappy products such as junky tools/cosmetics etc to active military and if possible, those that are deployed. They will try to invoke the return policy BS from there. They will also make claims that anything returned was sent back damaged by the sender.
I just keep stuff addressed to me that I didn't order. It's a gift. I defy them to try to charge me or get me to return it. Happened once, about 20 years ago. I still have the cheap fishing poles and reels I didn't order. They sent me a follow-up letter asking me to either pay for or return them. I essentially told them to pound sand. They finally gave up after some truly hilarious "threatening" letters. I taught my kids how to fish using them. Now THAT was priceless!
You should have told Karen you want to speak to the manager.

Got another one that showed caller ID from Chicago metro area - 773-692-8914, and the "callback number" he left was 855-958-0329. I also posted that number on a separate thread so others could find it on this site.
