Has anybody contacted the Canadian government and the state of Quebec?  Since these calls are coming from Canada, isn't there anything the Canadian government can do?  Just asking because as I read through this thread, there was only one reference to  Canadian law.

I doubt the scammers are really located in Canada. I think most of the numbers are spoofed.

    SickOfTheseCalls
I am so sick of these people calling me! The locator calls me daily! If I try to call her back it just goes to a voicemail that has a male's voice which says, "This Department of Investigation Phone Does Not Accept Messages."   (By the way, the voicemail messages sounds ALOT like the so-called supervisor I spoke with last week when I called them back.) Then it says, this users mailbox can not accept messages. I'm sorry, but an error has occurred.  Then it hangs up on you.  What??

    Its A Spoofed Number
The locator called me from a spoofed number to make it look like she was calling me locally.  I could hear all the telemarketers in the background as she was talking to me.  So she was calling from a room full of other people making phone calls too. She said she needed to verify my address to serve me my claim or warrant, or some mess.  I gave her the address of our local police department as my address.  She asked me how long would I be there. I told her I would be here all day long. If she was really a locator in my local area, she would have immediately identified the address I gave her as the police department. Don't let these people bother you.  They are true scammers.

Our whole family has been called by Global trying to get a number for a relative.  They keep telling us the party is under investigation for check fraud. We have all asked them not to call anymore, but they say won't stop until they have spoken to relative. There is never a a call back number. We know that it is bunch of nothing, only to collect some $ amount from one of us.

    James Doan, Doan Law Firm
Global collectors take advantage of the elderly, the infirm, and those with special needs/diminished capacity.  They buy uncollectable debt (beyond the statute of limitations, bogus debt, etc).  They thrive on intimidation, threaten arrest, harass family members and neighbors, and are overall scumbags.  Since they are based out of Canada, they think they are immune to the FDCPA of the US.  The supervisor, Brian Perry, at 866-461-8539, is as deceptive a whimp as they come.  They use "locators" to make their harassing calls.  In this case, it was from an intimidating black man with the caller ID number 909-693-3348.  He says he's going to have you arrested at work, and is going to tell your supervisor to watch for the police. Global = Losers.

I have spoken with the prosecutor in Clay County Missouri when they began this crap with me and unfortunately there isn't anything he could do.  However, I was advised by the prosecutors office to keep notes each time they call and who you spoke to.  You then report that info to your prosecutors office so when the sleazy [***] finally show their face in a US court, which as of today they haven't, a class action can be formally filed.

Global Credit and Collections is a scam. My boyfriend and I just applied for a mortgage and discovered a debt on his credit bureau that was paid off in 2010. The website is not legit. The phone number listed is not legit. This company has horrible reviews. THE REAL NUMBER IS 1-866-350-1405

We are giving the real number to our bank today and have explained to them the little scam this company has going on. PLEASE DO THE SAME AND SPREAD THE WORD!

global has been harassing me as well, Im not sure what to do about them calling my work.  Initially I recieved a call from someone who said they wanted to verify my address for documents regarding charges against me.  The man said he cant open the envelope  with the documents until I speak to Global.  I called Global and agreed that the $250.00 bill was mine and I would like to make arrangments as I had already paid part of the debt to the original company in June.  He wanted me to pay over the phone without any paperwork even though his amount was different from the debt.  I asked him to send it to me in writing, he said we dont do that.  I said I dont feel comfortable giving my checking info without any paperwork.  Then I get a call from my job my boss wanted to tell me they called him and mentioned "charges" and that they would come to my work to serve me with "charges" if he didnt have me call them back.  I called them and told them never to call my work, to which the Global man said that must be the locator company who did that.  I asked for that companies name, he said he didnt have that info!  I asked for his supervisor he said he was in charge.  I cant believe they made my boss think I was about to be arrested.  How do I stop the locator if I cant find out who they are?

I think you know the name of the company involved. That might be enough to leave a crime tip at https://tips.fbi.gov/ where you might tell them that you think the crime they may have committed is:

    "18 USC § 875 - Interstate communications"

" . . . (d) Whoever, with intent to extort from any person, firm, association, or corporation, any money or other thing of value, transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to injure the property or reputation of the addressee or of another or the reputation of a deceased person or any threat to accuse the addressee or any other person of a crime, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."

    From: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/875

If the FBI is already aware of this company, perhaps they could do something to stop them.  If they are not already aware, perhaps they might investigate.

You might want to say, if you think such is the case, that the company has already threatened to injure your reputation and to accuse you of a crime by calling your boss at work. You can give other details of your experience on the FBI web site -- perhaps a copy of the post you made here is enough, along with the telephone number that showed up on your caller ID.

You may not get contacted by the FBI, but you might find it worthwhile to report this. I read at least one news report from earlier this week about a person having been taken into custody for threats transmitted via interstate commerce.

You can't commit slander on a written blog. You can be ignorant without limitation though, thanks for reminding us of the latter.
