First, thank you for taking the time to reply. I note with some interested that you responded to me "some people that don't like the fact that their debt is in the hands of a collection law firm so they sue. Some actually believe that WWR has no right to contact them but WWR is bound by the FDCPA to send an initial letter to the debtor informing them that a debt that they owe to the original creditor has not been paid in an efficient manner and has been placed in the hands of WWR."

Now, does this apply to the specific cases I asked you about? I just wanted to see if you are positing that these specific plaintiffs merely sued (and a firm took the case) because they were displeased that the debt is in the hands of a firm. Again, thank you in advance for your time and consideration

I agree SK-it made no mention to the cases you listed and instead made some vague reference on 'how it all works'. I even called him on the fact that the debt was most likely past the SOL and was bought for pennies on the dollar. It's probably using a script and is unable to deviate from it.

I never knew there are so many people who make excuses to get out of paying bills.   If you sign up for a credit card and make charges it is your legal and moral responsibility to make sure the charges are paid.

Oh really?  Please cite specific examples of specific posters in this thread making excuses for not paying their bills.  Prove that anyone here doesn't pay their bills.  Speaking of "legal and moral responsibility", does the FDCPA outline responsibility for dealing with consumers?  Moreover, I am still waiting for a response for some from WWR regarding specific FDCPA cases in which they are the defendant

If I have to tell you to get lost again Troll, you know what's going to happen. There you'll be, whining like a pup trying to pass a tape-worm, unable to understand why your comments just aren't getting through.
Don't piss me off Troll. It gets worse from here!

     P.S. How's it goin' SK?

I never knew there are so many collectors who make excuses to get out of obeying laws. If you collect credit card debt and make charges in court it is your legal and moral responsibility to make sure the methods and accusations are valid.

I sued and won replies to [***]
weltman, these people are a bunch of idiots, and they routinely violate laws, and guess what, they are routinely paying out for their violations. They sue people without validating the debt, and violate numerous state, and federal collection laws. If you are being sued by Weltman, consider it a blessing. You can counter sue for damages, treble damages, punitive damages, etc. Their business plan is based on volume, so they have the money set aside for settlements. i would advise to not sue just under the debt collection laws since they cap out at a mere $1,000. Better to sue them under TCPA, and legal the statutes that require proper investigation of a lawsuit before filing a baseless one. Baseless has to mean having some type of legal standing, which rarely do anything these people buy, actually have standing.

dont wait for weltman, just do you won legal research. type in weltman, in PACER, and see the 100,000 and 1,000,000 cases where they are named as the defendant, or do a google search for free.

Of course, and I find it ironic that a shill for WWR has the temerity to lecture anyone about moral responsibility

W,W, & R used to call my family about a dead relative's debts, but the estate was insolvent, and we never opened probate.

We refused to talk to them.  We never responded to any of their phone calls or letters.

And they never opened probate, and they never got a penny.

They try to get information about you, about the estate, and try to turn it around and use it against you later.  Don't talk to them.  Don't give them any information.

My wife passed recently. She had a credit card account strictly in her name only. She did not
leave an estate nor is anything in probate. Told welman, weinberg and reis of this fact. Now
they are asking me to contact them again.
I live in tennessee which is not (not) a community property state.
Do i have any liability to weltman for this account
    tnks
