If you receive a call like this as I just did tell them you're computer repair business they'll leave you alone.

Received a call from a GARY saying my computer was downloading programs it shouldn't and I needed to go into my computer and he would fix it for me.
I called Microsoft Windows and they said it is a scam that Windows never has your phone number or your name unless you have dealt with there tech dept. and you have given them the info. The best thing to do is tell them you know it's a scam and hang up on them.
On the 2nd call from them I did just that and told them don't call me again. They will tell you they are from World PC Data and are contracted by Windows. The Number they called from is 125-382-0308.
Please be aware.

I live in the UK and have received these calls twice - one about 6 weeks ago (lady with Indian accent) and one half an hour ago (man with Indian accent). Fortunately, I'd read warnings about them in the local paper from somebody who was conned by them - so I hung up on the first caller and I told the second I know it's a scam.
I also received a call from a Carlos Smith who claimed he was with Microsoft and he also had an East Indian accent. He told me my pc had malicious software being downloaded to it. When he called my wife answered the phone and he called her by name. I told him my pc was not with me so he gave me the phone # 403-456-3965 to call him back. I asked him how would he know that these downloads were taking place and got no straight answer.

Just had the second call - last one a week ago. Person had an Indian accent. Also, whenever I spoke,, my words were being repeated like an echo. Don't know if I was being taped or what. When I hung up and looked at the number that called me it said private name, private number. Pleas note the caller said he was calling from Microsoft.

Got a call today. Same idea. person had an Indian accent , wanted me to go to my PC so that I could remove some files and remove the "JUNK" . Claimed to be located in US. Told him sorry I would deal with my own Virus. :). Strangely enough their number was 253 902 0308. if you call that number it gives you a blurb about this number having being used for "illegal activities". They recommended you go to a web site to get further information. I decided it was probably a second attempt at fishing and let it go at that.

I'm in the UK and have gotten these for months. I usually just hang up because I know my computer is fine and that Microsoft doesn't have my home phone and they wouldn't work through a call centre in India (because yes they have an Indian accent). Today I told the caller 'Raoul' that he was lying, that this was a scam and that I wanted him to take my number off of his list and not to call me again. He became extremely abusive and stated 'How do you know this is a scam!' and I said, 'Because a legitimate company would never call someone up and start screaming at them' and I hung up. He can call all he wants, my real friends call me on my cell/mobile, so I just turned the ringer on silent in case he wants to do anything silly like call a million times and there ya go...
I do feel sorry for people who may not be as knowledgeable and could easily get caught by this.

What if I download that sostware and run it?wat wil happen?do i need to reformat my computer?
I just had a similar call and they gave me a call back number. 845-440-1804. Very aggressive, very dire "consequences" if you don't work with them. I called a Microsoft solution technician who assured me it was a scam and even after I told the caller that and hung up, they tried to get me to work with them anyway!
You need to run your anti-virus software and the software that keeps other people from using your computer remotely.
Your best bet is to take your computer to your local computer repair place. Tell them what you did so they can remove whatever the scammers put on it.

I received a call from global tech saying that i had a virus infecting my computer, they said they were representing windows, wanted to send me to a computer tech to fix the problem, which they wanted to charge me, i said no and asked for a call back number which was 1-877-623-9180.Anyone else have this problem?
had the same call today from 1-877-623-9180, wanted to fix my computer because it was infected, said they were representing windows the company was called Global Tech. Guess it was a scam.
We got the same call, man with Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft to say that our computer had downloaded some type of malicious software. No other details given but wanted us to turn on our computer. Difficult to understand, so didn't catch name but he sounded disappointed when he was asked for his number so we could call him back (call display showed "unknown number"). The number he gave was 315-777-6457. No listing vound for this number. Obviously a scam.
