Same story,  I have had no problems and I can find all my ,old, files from years back. This man claimed  I could not since everything was destroyed by this malicious virus!! If they call again I will call our local police to warn people for this scam!!!

I just tell callers like this that I use LINUX.  They hang up every time.  Well except for the one woman who didn't seem to understand they there are other operating systems besides Windows out there (and she's supposed to be the computer expert).

I think the worst problem about this SCAM is tha windows does send errors to Microsoft to search for problems. They don't have to phone you as it does it automatically for you and sends you the solution. Thes people just want to xconnect to your system and find data to steal your ID or get info to get at your bank account maybe. NEVER let them remote connect or you are in trouble.and who knows what they can do to you. Warn everyone that you know about this.  Iknow that Microsoft has a tech internet troubleshooting base in India as I have dealt with them when Vista first came out but am sure they do not monitor your computer BEWARE!!!!

877-623-9180 .... but your caller ID probably said not availble, privat or something like that.
In any case, it's a call center obviously in india, calling themselves global tech ...
Whatever you do, don't let them connect to your PC w/windows ... Tell them you are using Apple or LINUS or don't even have a computer - then tell them to please cancel their records of the number they just dialed. It is a SCAM all the way thru!

got this exact call tonight...... but not an 800 #..
my caller ID said Voiparty, they were telling me that one of my computers have a virus and I needed to unplug it from the network etc etc, when I asked which of our computers has the virus he wasnt able to answer the question and then I proceeded to tell him I work for the company that I get my internet from and they are VERY good at notifying customers when they have a virus and I have not heard from them abt this....he hung up right after I stated I worked for the company that provides my internet. So then of course I googled the number and the name that came up on caller ID and seems that they are possibly a scam. Tried calling the number back and it rang busy...I doubt it is a legit company

Just got a called from "Edward Spencer" who spoke with such a heavy Indian accent that I could only understand half of what he was telling me.  He gave me a call back number of 801-512-0605, which is a bogus number as well.  He told me my Window operating system is infected.  When I tried to ask him more questions, he could not answer coherently.  I have a Mac so I do not have Windows.

Just received a call from 281-324-1455 - the woman with an accent just stated she was from technical support and had been receiving reports from my computer indicating that it is infected with a very corrupt virus....as soon as I asked her where she was calling from she hung up.
The 281 number is a number in Houston, Texas

I got a call from them too, but the joke is on them I have an Apple and I do not use any Microsoft products...he stammered that I need to have my Windows products checked out and again I told him I do not have any Word or Windows product on my computer.  I kept him on the line for 20 minutes...that's 20 minutes he could not bother anyone else....I think of keeping these ba**erds on the line and away from others as a public service.

Got a call from this number a couple of months ago, in the evening.  I answered because I had never seen all zeros before, and thought perhaps the caller ID wasn't working.  Upon answering, a man with an Indian accent told me he was calling about my "Windows computer".  I told him I thought he must have the wrong number, as we don't have anything with Windows even on it - only Linux and then two Macs.  He proceeded to totally creep me out after that, begging me to please not tell him it was the wrong number, asking why do I own a Mac, that I was breaking his heart, asking my age, and that if I were his age he would make me his girlfriend.  Hung up, and was so creeped out I considered calling the police.  Didn't do so, haven't heard from this number since, and hope to never hear from them again.  It's bad enough to try to scam people, but to do something so creepy... Ugh!
