"Rachel" from Card Services

Happened again today.  From the same spoofed number, just a few digits off from mine.

If I could personally get my mitts on the person or people who keep dragging my arthritic ass up from this chair to see if it is a valid call or not, 5 or 6 times a day, despite registering with nomorobo and other organizations that are supposed to protect my number...they would NEVER call me again. Contact info, company name, anything, anyone?

Consider getting a call blocker.  There are a couple recommended by regulars on this site.

Also consider getting a cordless phone.  Not a cell phone, a cordless land line.  It has a base station that plugs into the phone line like a regular land line and an electric cord that goes in a regular outlet.  It also has a handset that communicates wirelessly with the base station.  Put the base station in your bedroom.  Carry the handset in your pocket all day, charge it in the base station overnight.  That will also allow you to call 911 if you fall or feel sick.

Today I received a call from 'Rachel'.  They are getting much bolder.

Last week 'Rachel' called using what appeared to be a local phone number extremely close to mine.  Just the last digit was 4 digits off.  Area code and first six digits were the same.  I picked it up thinking it was a local call.  It was Rachel.  So that number is now Call Blocked.

My caller ID this morning indicated the call was coming from me (my own name) and my own home phone number.  I knew it was not me calling myself (I live alone), so I answered the call out of curiosity.  Sure enough, it was 'Rachel' of Cardholder Services.

I have now had to use Call Block on my home phone to stop incoming calls coming from my own home phone number.

To date I have received 10 Rachel calls from a local spoofed number that is very close to mine. You'd think the NSA could find these folks and stop them.

These people are idiots. They use the same number (which, surprise, belongs to a local merchant I know very well and wouldn't call me on my land line) all the time. Do they think I don't know it's them?? Do they think after 100sof calls to my house that maybe TODAY is the day I'll give them my credit card number? Dream on, jerks!

I regularly pick up the fun just to play with them. String them on as long as possible.

I always have a scanner running on my desk. Occasionally it'll squawk some police call which causes these idiots to hang up immediately.

FTC has posted on its website a "Honeypot" hacker contest to attract, trace and nail robocallers. The contest is called "Zapping Rachel."

Finally spoofed my own number yesterday instead of a number really close to mine.. These people are idiots. As if I'm going to pick up a call from my own number.

The same thing happened to me three days ago (10/27/2014), and yeah, these "Card Services" creeps HAVE stooped to a new low. You just know there's something illegal going on when garbage like that happens, and I hope now more than ever that someone catches onto their dirty little deeds and puts a stop to them. Transparent though this little stunt may be, it's still "clever" in its own little way...if, of course, one's definition of the word "clever" is synonymous with the word "cowardly."

Hahahahaha. That whole list of "whose behind Rachel" is completely wrong. I work for Card Services and the list of people Billy posted have NOTHING to do with our company. Good try though.
