You should report this on the off chance they are in the US.  (They probably aren't, but who knows?)

File a complaint with the DEA  at http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubs/pressreleases/extortion_scam.htm

There is NOTHING federal agents hate more than criminals posing as them.   If they can get their hands on them, Lord help 'em.

I received this same call today. They left a message and I called back. spoke to someone, a 'dispatcher" who said the agent that called me was on the phone and would need to call me back.I am waiting for them to call me back, but at least now I know what to expect. Mine was Special Agent Tony Angely and the number was (312) 788-9262. I will now report it the the real DEA.

Today I was called by a James capras dea officer.  I looked him up on the Internet and there was his picture.  I admitted that I had ordered Rx and was told I would be taken to Dominican republic on Thursday and I would be public ally humiliated.  They knew I was a teacher and told me I would lose mt teaching certificate.   After awhile and many threats they offered me a fee to go away.  They used good cop and bad cop and Javier Pena was then called to tell me the details of my incarceration in DR.  The whole thing went away if I sent money.  Dea does not ask for money.  Ever ever ever. Please don't fall for this and I thought I was savvy!

Got a call from someone posing as Agent Castillo from the DEA with regard to an ongoing investigation. Before I called back I checked with the FTC at 877-FTC-HELP, the Fed Info Verification at 800-333-4636, and the Chicago DEA at 312-353-7875. They confirmed it's an extortion scam, and had me call their extortion hotline at 877-792-2873.

    Don't fall for it.

I got the call today, and it scared the hell out of me.  It was on my voicemail.  I was in tears.  It threw me for a loop!!  This fellow called himself Jacob Ramirez and stated that border patrol had intercepted illegal drugs addressed to me and that there was a warrant out for my arrest and US Marshal en route to my home.  This guy HAD MY ADDRESS.  I literally felt like I was going to throw up.  These guys need to be put in prison for doing this!  I am not that gullible, but this was so scary.  I am now very pissed off, and I actually HOPE he calls me back so that I can give him a piece of my mind!!!

    LISTEN......

~~The DEA would NEVER call you or demand that you can pay out over the phone. There's a group of 3 or 4 of them in a Boiler Room making calls. Someone called me from (210)399-6780 claiming to be Special Agent Lawrence Matthews....I've lived in Houston all my life so so I found it kind of funny that a San Antonio area code would call. After about 2 hrs of prank calling, making up names and asking them if there Haitian wife were proud of them for not having a real job, (Dominicans HATE Haitians) I finally got bored and contacted the REAL Lawrence Matthews at (713)693-3505 and alerted him to the situation.

You can say whatever you want to them, as I stooped to their level and got pretty vulgar. However, the quickest way to get them to stop is to advise them that you are recording the conversation and that your contacting the local authorities.....

Write your congressman about this and how you feel about it--I'm serious.    These offshore telescams have become and epidemic.    Thousands of calls like this are coming in from all over the world--chiefly India--and it's because criminals all over the world have found it's a crime they can get away with, without risk of punishment.   Their governments couldn't care less and they are beyond  US jurisdiction.   The only way to stop them is to get the US government to start strong-arming the offending governments, and that won't happen until the victims start bringing some pressure on the political class in Washington.   Complain to your representatives and insist they recognize the problem and act to stop it.   Then contact your local media and tell them so they can ask Congressman Whomever what he intends to do about it as well.

I got a call yesterday and being that I don't answer numbers that I don't know, it went to voicemail. "Special agent Gibbs" from the DEA left a message asking me to call back ASAP as it was very important. I tried calling back yesterday but got an automated message stating that they were closed (it something to that effect). It was a NY number and figured with it being eastern time, and after 5pm they were done for the day? I called back on a break from work today and spoke with Special Agent Gibbs. She spoke very fast and gave me more or less the same lines everyone else has got. After everything she told me that since I had a clean record and no arrests, she could probably get the charges (two federal offenses?) dropped for me but I had to pay a "civil fine". Being that it was my first offense, they could drop the fines from around $7000 to about $4500. If I didnt have it all or couldn't pay, I could be put on their I90 plan and pay $500 a month. I was terrified as I ordered online almost 10 years ago but didn't know I had done anything wrong. I told them
I didn't have that kind of money with me and they suggested that I go to the bank. I lied and said I didnt have a car, so they forcefully told me they were trying to help me out but needed something paid right then. (so much as suggesting i call a taxi or walk to a bank). Apparently I wasnt agreeing fast enough for her so she sent me over to an agent with the FDA (I was so frazzled that I don't remember her name). I told her that I didn't know what I could pay and that my husband dealt  with our finances and she said if I told anyone about this case, they would be brought on conspiracy charges and could face 5-7 years in prison. When I told them I would call a cab but needed to hang up in order to do so, she stated that she needed to stay on the phone with me the WHOLE time in order to "help me" and verify I was willing to "do the right thing and pay the fines". I hung up right then. I immediately googled DEA and scam and found these. No matter what, there was NO way I was giving a CC number and wanted to consult someone first. I'm so pissed at how terrible they made me feel that I want to call back tomorrow and tell them I have the whole $4500 to pay and beg that it's not too late. I'm sure they will gladly say it's not and accept my (fake) money. I will ask to pay in person and see what they say.

Same type call yesterday. Man said he was Special Agent David Burkos, Narcotics Division 28, Badge 1-12790. Said DEA was investigating overseas pharmacies and my name was found as ordering prescriptions from the Dominican Republic from 2004 to 2005. I told him I ordered non-controlled substances and they came mailed from Florida. He said the drugs are cut with Cocaine and really come from the Dominican Republic so.....I have violated 21USC Section 9-2 which carries a penalty of $5,000 or jail time of 1 year in prison. I had also violated 952 Section, 844 Section, and 301 Section which is "importation of unapproved prescription drugs. At THIS point he said that this discussion was being recorded and could and would be used against me in a court of law...RED FLAG #1. (He did not say that at the beginning of the call). He then told me he had 2 armed Federal Marshalls on the way to my house and would be arriving in approximately 35 minutes with a search warrant. He said they would handcuff me and search my house and take me to jail. THEN he said "discussing this information or any further information pertaining to this is another violation". RED FLAG #2. (You can always talk to your lawyer). He asked me if I was prepared for the marshalls to arrive in 35 minutes to execute the search warrant and I said NO. He asked why not? I said "Because I believe this is a SCAM and I am not doing anything. I am just a fat old lady laying here in bed wheezing with pneumonia." He then said, "alright, we are on our way" and hung up. My next action was to pick up my computers and all my medications (bought in the USA). and left my home.  No one ever showed up of course. I believe this Scam should be considered as International Terrorism and should be handled by Homeland Security. Especially if they have terrorized at least one person into committing suicide. I am contacting the DEA today to report this.

Just got a call from Special Agent Jimmy Fox with San Antonio division of DEA. Demanded between $900-$2000 for purchasing diet pills on-line once in 2007. Said I was going to face 12-16 months in prison. I told him that I would call him back with my payment arrangements. He told me not to talk to anyone else about it or they would be an accessory. Before I could call him back he left a message for me. My husband called him & told him this was a scam to leave his wife alone & that our best friend is a real DEA agent in our state & fake DEA agent kept stumbling over his words & repeating the same thing. Don't fall for this!!!!
