http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/offices_n_dirs/fielddiv/index.html Go to DEA website.  Note local office location and telephone number.  Next time this jerk calls, tell him the person who whom he wishes to speak can be reached at XXX (local number) without mentioning what it is.  They will sort him out for impersonating any law enforcement officer.

Happened to me today. The thing that angers me is they called my mother & it scared the crap out of her; said there was a warrant out on me. I called the #(as I had ordered 30 pills that shud have a scrip online) cuz I was scared. Then the red flags started popping up esp. after I adamantly said I wasn't going to Western U until tomorrow- dude got irritated with me. They had earlier said I cud be airlifted out by federal agents. They work on your fear & want(need) you to do the $$ bit fast B4 logic sets in & you start asking yourself questions like"the DEA has a budget that allows for busting middle age women ordering 30 pills?" & " airlift me?! To where?!"! After seeing scam alert on DEA I called Special Agent James Henderson back and told him I'd changed my mind, I did want to be airlifted out by federal agents. HAH! He said he'd pass that along. Called back 10 min later & his accomplice, Kevin Squires, said he'd stepped out of the office after he recognized my # so I asked him if I had time to shower b4 they got here & he got really pissed, yelling"you think this is a joke?". I said yes I do & now it's time for me to joke.
I plan to call them every hour:)))))))))
PS-I'm in Ca & their area code is 410 Baltimore. 1-410-975-8734. Hey, everyone reading this start calling them too!
And as said b4 law enforcement doesn't call ahead. I feel really stupid not picking up on that immediately.

Received phone call from male with a delay at first usually associated with a telemarketing call.  Man said he was from DEA and after confirming my name said that I would definitely be supeoned  and was facing  two charges.  The man asked me to hang on but I then hung up and later reported him to DEA hotline.  I am a senior citizen with some heart issues and this scared me.  I am in N Y C area.

Per above, I have no caller ID so was not able to get a number.

Don't sweat not getting "the number" - most scammers fake the caller ID information anyway.

I hope they aren't creating to much stress in your life.  If they are, read the threads on here about how to block such callers.

When I called today, he thanks me but said he needed to call me back because he was on the phone with the DA.  What DA I do not know!
I plan to call back tomorrow and request his badge number and his supervisors name etc.  I also plan to record the call-I live in Florida and our state law only requires that you inform the person and then you are good to go.  He will probably hang-up!  Maybe I'll update you if anything interesting comes from the call.  I think I will tell him I request that an agent be sent to speak with me in person so that I can confirm his credentials visually!  What do you think the motive is???

Don't call him back.  The number is spoofed.  He's not in the US.  The call will cost you a fortune.  Either that or it won't go through at all.

Its a scam.  He will tell you that he has proof that you have had illegal drugs shipped to you from outside the US.  DEA agents are on the way to your house to arrest you.  But you can avoid arrest by paying a fine, right now, by giving him your credit card number or bank account number.   If you give him an account number he will take all of the money out of that acount.

If you don't give him your banking information he will fuss and threaten, but the agents he says he is sending will never arrive.

No I understand it's a scam and I am going to call the real DEA and report them.  I was curious how much of a fine do they try to extort?  I did go to the DEA link I think you lefted and saw that it was a scam.  I have vontage as my phone service so the call cost me nothing and they can not charge anything to the phone number-vonage does not allow that!  Thanks for you advice!  I was so glad to find this page-not that I was worried I have a legal prescription for all my medication, but my husband said it was a scam.  They did not even try me once I told them I has a legal prescription and was annoyed that these online pharmacies still called me.

I don't know how much money the scammers try to get. I've never gotten a call from them.

Visit the DEA website.  No, don't have the link.  I've read here that the DEA's website has a warning about the scam. They already know about it and are trying to warn others.

I got a call today from a DEA agent named Jay Bergman 312-428-6094 who told me I had bought drugs over the internet which was illegal in Florida and I was going to jail...unless, of course I could pay a fine like a traffic ticket he then sent me to Sgt. Matthew Barnes a Washington D.C. policman badge #A1017
202-241-1605..he told me the judge was leaving court in an hour which would have my arrest warrant and the only way to stop it was to get 6 Green Dot cards for $500 each with scratch off numbers on the back..I was scared to death because they did know personal information about me..I asked for a few days to get the money together and he is giving me till Thursday..I was told not to tell anyone about this because it would comprimise the investigation....I Google both names and they are legitimate officers which made me ill...I am so glad to have this new information...what number can I call to report this?

"what number can I call to report this?"

Why not just go here? http://www.justice.gov/dea/ops/submit.shtml

If you just have to spend time on the phone with someone, go here:

    http://www.justice.gov/dea/contact.shtml

Keep in mind that they get tons of these reports, and that they are all pretty similar.

These people called my husband and he, a former cop, bought it hook line and sinker.  Only when they said they needed ANOTHER $1800 today did he start questioning in.    They gave convincing info, and when I called them on some inconsistencies, such as how they did their background on him, was I able to trip them up.  He has a DUI, bad credit, owes back taxes, etc., but they told us he had a clean background and was in good standing financially.   I also called them on their (mis)use of alpha characters that were inconsistent with federal goverment, and inconsistent with themselves!  Dog and Doctor for D in the same sentence.  Someone who is federal, and has been in the military such as this guy said he was, would NOT use everyday words for letters. (Zebra instead of Zulu)   Then I asked them to fax me a copy or abstract of this supposed warrant and they've failed to do so at this time.  Every number they've given me has come up on one site or another as being a scam.  A**holes.

Call from a claimed special agent from Drug Enforcement Administration named Jay Verben from Santa Barbara, CA with caller ID of 805-314-0047 telling me to call back in reference to some illicit drug involvement. I was tempted to call back and have some fun threatening him back, but didn't want to waste my time. Noticed a lot of reported calls from the same number. SCAM!!!!!
