"The Vehicle Processing Center"

They are calling me from multiple numbers. Some are even from my local area code. I keep blocking numbers and they just use a different one.

I've started telling them I don't own a car. They hang up immediately.

When I happen to answer their calls,the first thing they ask for is your vehicle's mileage. I just say Imdont give out any personal info to strangers who call Andy they hang up. If you do give them the mileage, the next thing in their script is to FOAM. That stands for "freak out about mileage." If your mileage is high they say the parts are worn out and are bound to fail soon and you need their warranty. If you give a low mileage, they say the parts are rusting and will fail soon so you need their warranty.

Which is the perfect time to play them like a fiddle.  These people make their money on commissions.  You won't hurt the owner but you will hurt their weekly income as well as the closer they transfer you to.

I generally state about 80K miles. Enough to be out of many factory warranties, but not so high as to be outside of their general "qualifications" for their warranty.

Same here! They are now calling my cell phone! They don't stick with the same number long. Lately, the ones have been from our local area code. I have called a couple of them back (I know I shouldn't) and they are numbers that are no long in service. Today I played along with one. Boy, he was not happy when he figured it out! LOL

You are actually more likely to get additional calls if you ask them to remove your name based on my research.  They will belligerently give your number to other scammers.  What I do is ether hang up if no one answers within a second or two, indicating their computer is sinking the hook, or answer "yes" than set the phone down and ignore it.  At least you will waste a moment of their scammers time and perhaps thereby reduce the number of folks they can try to scam that day.  Better yet, wait till you get a live person on the line and say excitedly, please hang on for a second, then put the phone down and walk away.

So, what do you think the odds are that "Al" will return after having posted here in 2014 (5 years ago) to see your reply?

I work from home so I need to answer unknown numbers in case it's a potential client. I am so sick of these scammers calling my phone and wasting my time. I've tried to be nice, I've tried being mean. I've asked to be removed from the call list numerous times. I put my number on the national do not call list... It just never stops. FYI- Today's number was (646)-971-9986. The number is usually different, they call several times a day.

I replied to help other people who are searching "The Vehicle Processing Center". Usually people will read through replies even if they are older.

So you actually think that person will stop back here after 5 years?  Do you know that person?  Why would he stop back here after 5 years?

Why did you not post in that number thread?  No one in that thread knows what the call is about.  Would it not have been better to use the site correctly and thus help those and all future people who look that number up?
