- FlustratedI have been getting calls from a man calling himself Dominic # 646-369-7128 (https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-646-369-7128). He says he is law officer. He has threatened to have me arrested. He says I owe him 504 dollars. He says I if I don't pay this they will take me to court and I will owe 1800 dollars. He speaks very broken english very hard to understand. Will give me know address no information about the loan. I have contacted consumer information and BBB. They can call me at home as much as they want but they are calling my work also. Thank god I work for a very understanding place. I have told them about what is going on and they said they will let me know if he calls there any more. I have almost paid this to get them off my back, but thank god I called the consumer protection program for advice. They are taking care of it now.

- Worried! replies to BobWell I called them this morning and told them that I no longer authorize any money to be withdrawn from my acct and that their scam business was all over the internet so either send me a validation of debt or take the $200 I already paid you and be happy. I havent heard back from him yet and I left that message at 7:30am lol. So I guess Ill either get served with papers if it is legitimate or they will just leave me alone... hope its the latter :)
- Bob replies to Worried!| 1 replyThis is what keeps them going and keeps them in business. 99% of the time people hang up on them and don't give them any money, but every once in a while, they get one person to give them money and that keeps them in business.
Go to your bank immediately, and dispute the charges, and try to have them reversed, and get your money out of that account, because it is no longer safe in there. They have your account number.
If you used a debit card for the transaction, report the card stolen immediately.
And I would go one step further-- switch to a different bank.
I had a debit card that I foolishly used online to buy some mp3s from what I thought was a reputable site, but someone hacked into that site and got my debit card number and started charging all sorts of weird things to it.
I immediately reported it stolen and even got the charges reversed. I got a new debit card with different numbers. And I thought it was all over. A year had passed. Then suddenly I got a call from my bank's fraud department saying that there were a number of suspicious charges on the debit card I reported stolen, with the same old numbers that should have no longer worked! My account was very low, so the charges were refused, but if I had had a lot of money in there, I think they would have gone through! Even with a stolen debit card! I would have had to go down to the bank and dispute the charges all over again and get them reversed, which takes over a week! So, I switched to a different bank after that.
The point is this... once they have your account numbers, your account at that bank is no longer safe. - Bob replies to WrennaThe government seems to be unwilling to enforce its own laws, so the best thing you can do in this situation is get a Google Voice number, and then cancel whatever phone number you are currently using and don't leave a forwarding number. At least with Google Voice, once a scammer calls you, you can block that number from ever calling you again.
Or just assign a silent ring tone to their number, and you won't hear them when they call.
Another option would be to get something like Vonage, which I have heard is able to even screen out anonymous or "unavailable" numbers from calling. It is supposedly better at it than Google Voice, but Google is free, and it works with any phone you choose to use, because it just forwards the calls to whatever number you have. - Karen replies to JuliaHere is another one 305-433-6599 -
I received a call from a Brian Peterson on my work voicemail from 3054336599 stating mys ss# has been reported as a possible suspect in some crime. Didn't disclose any details and it was very hard to understand what the heck he was saying - but me or my attorney of record had to call back at extension 102. Tried to call back but the call wouldn't go through. I am sure it is a scam - I have never been to Florida so this has to be a scam....this is a new one I just received 7/22/2011 - WhistleBlower replies to Danielle MorrisonFolks, I FOUND OUT HOW TO STOP THE CALLS!!! And IT REALLY WORKS! I'm serious! I told the jerk that we had a bad connection -I was having a hard time hearing him. As I was talking I was moving my phone away from my mouth, so it was getting harder for HIM to hear ME. After 30 seconds or so of this (I could hear him adjusting his headset, trying to hear me) I took a metal whistle and blew as hard as I could into my phones speaker! I could hear him yell in pain, and he disconnected. I have never been called since. Honest! Please post if this works for you too!

- Danielle Morrison| 3 repliesI would agree the lady that said try applying at Accu-CheckCashNow.com. I went on-line and applied for a loan. I not only got great customer service, but I was approved in about an hour and the money was in my account the next morning. I was GLAD that when I applied @ accu-checkcashnow.com, they were the ONLY ones to call me. Not a bunch of foreign people that I can't understand and who I didn't even apply with. I'm telling you guys, that company is A-1..
