I just received this same call. The mentioned something about a 9k grant. Could barely understand him. I listened for a minute as he mentioned how I had a clean background, always paid my bills and did not have a criminal history. I asked him how he knew all that about me, then asked him who I was. He called me a F#%k Face and hung up on me. It is a shame that this [***] are able make these calls.

Called me and said the government was giving out $9000.00 "loyalty" grants to 17,000 people. Started to ask me to confirm personal information. Since they never ask for anyone specific I said Who are you calling for? they hung up.

Got the call from 202-000-1111 a few minutes ago. I let the rep go on with his spiel for a few minutes and then he asked me to repeat back the file number and the call back number that I had pretended to write down.  When I couldn't and he said "**** YOU!  You MOTHER******"  So I said, "That's not fair, it's just your mother, nobody else." And then he hung up on me. Sensitive.

I have gotten the same call and asked many questions to get as much info from them as possible. Hung up and called the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and filed a report. They said that if enough people report it, they will launch a full blown investigation. So please report it. It will not take much if your time and could really help in stopping these scum bags.

I have received calls from similar numbers like this one and was told I had $9000 coming from the government and ask or a cardinal number so it will be direct deposited on my card. I refused to give them the number of my card and they kiss me call me at Afton [***]. when I try to call the number back there's no such number.

I've received two calls today from someone, with a heavy accent, who claims to be calling on behalf of the US government concerning a grant.  The last number the person called from was 202-000-1111.  I received the same call last Wednesday.  I listened to him and he told me he'd need to use Western Union, my bank account number, or a Master Card to get the grant money to me.  Obviously a scam.

This number has called my home at least 4 times.  I was not home 3 of the times.  This morning I got a call and when I answered it - they did not answer and then hug up.

These are all phishing scams - they simply want as much of your personal info as they can get so they can sell it to the massive organisations of "identity theft" dealers - DO NOT GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE OR ON-LINE UNLESS YOU YOURSELF HAVE INITIATED THE CONTACT - & even then, be very careful. Identity theft is a thriving & lucrative business!
