I answered a couple times and. each tim..e they ask for a different name, and when I tell them they got the wrong number they rudely just hang up and will call the next day . Probably phishing

Said I was eligible for a government grant. I said I wasn't interested and hung up.

Received a call no answer.

Got a call on Dec. 18, 2013 at 1:34pm.  Caller ID said Washington DC.  The guy asked for Deana, there us no Feana here!  Then he asked for my name.  I said, I am NOT telling you my name!" I hung up!  Who are these people???

You would think they would change the phone number by now. Anyway, I say hello and after a 5 second delay (time it took the computer to send the call to one of their overseas reps) a lady says "may I speak to John?" and I say "This is John"...heavy sigh on the end of the phone. She repeats and so do I  "This is John!" Then a heaver sigh and she hangs up on me! Seriously, can they not even hire people who can have a conversation in English? Pathetic.

Suppose I should tell my story if it helps in the long run. I received this same call with a female voice. I automatically think anything is a scam because honestly free money never sounds like the best decision. I got the same story, 7000 grant, I won it for being a goody to shoes and they only want me to use the money for decent reasons. Bills, schooling, you know stuff your any adults says to you to make you think hey this person gives.......
I stopped her and ask if I could ask a question I was going to ask anyways.
"I've received calls like this all the time that turn out to be scams, how can I be sure this isn't a scam?"
She asks me have I gotten this call before.
Even though I hadn't I said I had and what do you know... Dial tone. Well I have a cellphone, you get the picture.

I got a very similar call a few months ago and now they are calling me again!

I also received a phone call today from 202-621-5429 saying that I have been selected for a grant of 7000.00 because I have no criminal background, the lady who had called me was so mumbling so bad that I asked her to tell me again why I'm getting this money when I did that she hung up on.

From number  202-621-5429  Can hardly understand man that calls with accent.......calls 2 or 3 times per day but when I answer he asks to speak to Pat and I say yes and he hangs up.

A lady sounding a bit middle-Eastern claimed I'd been selected by the US Gov to receive $$$$$$$$$.
I interrupted her and said "I don't think this is gonna work." and hung up. She did ask for my first name, so they're getting phone numbers and first names from ????????

received a call from this number asking for my husband,when I said this is his wife can I help you the women on the other end said "he@# NO"and then hung up.

Ya, I just got one of these calls 2 minutes ago.  It's 1:54 pst. 010914 Thursday.  I went to the link about how to be put on the do not call list.  http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams  

When I first answered the call, I didn't hear anybody.  I paused, the I heard a young make say, "hello, hello"?  Then a frustrated tone in his voice, then a hang up sound.  I Googled this number: 202-621-5429.  I immediately got on do not call list, and book marked this number titled scam call.  I tried to call back to see if any body would answer but the phone line was busy.  Imagine that?  Very interesting.  I did telemarketing for about four years, but I never did telemarketing like that!   Here is how I deal with these kind of calls.  I really really slow, "heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellooooooooooooooooooooo" over and over and over again and again, until they give up!  It's hilarious to them say that things like, "never mind"!  Have fun with that!  Some people never grow up.  Or are natural dirt bags?  I think I will write a song about this!  hehe....cheers!

I got a call from 202 621 5429 at 7:39 a.m. on my cell phone...didnt answer because that I wasnt totally awake.  Does anyone know how to block this number on a cell phone??

I got a similar call and almost fell for it until I looked online. I knew it was a scam.

They just did me the same way told me to call 202-738-4185 and talk to her supervisor. Name. Mark Bowmen

Just got a call from this number today. Didn't answer it, I never answer a call I don't know. Especially different area codes.

This number calls me all time of the day. I finally answered and a foreign guy says hello as soon as I hear his voice I say take my number off of your list right now. He laughed and asked me if I knew where he was calling from… well he told me he was the FBI looking for someone with my first name but my boyfriends last night… putting them on the blocked list today.
