received call gerald coven said that i am going to jail for tax fraud. and that i owe 4298.00 dollars. i told him that i am on ss
and i owe nothing. he said make payments or go to jail.

I received a call from this number at my parents home. The  scammer stated that my parents owed the IRS $3,552.16 from a   miscalculation of taxes from 2002-2012. The scammer stated that the IRS did a "Random" audit in 2007 of my parents account. When I questioned this low life scammer he became aggressive with me and said he is going to send a subpoena to their house in the morning and then he hung up the phone. I pray that they are somehow punished for praying on the ELDERLY.

Guy with thick Indian accent (and a lousey connection) called...couldn't even pronounce my name.  He claimed to be an agent from the Departrment of Treasury...Caller ID seemed to "confirm" this...i.e., the origin of the call!

I told him that his call was a scam and hung up.
I can only hope that no one is stupid enough to actually believe these guys!

this number show caller ID " DEPT OF TREASURE" 202-622-3000 IRS NEVER CALL ; they use this number also  scam and  debt collection trying to get people  who own credit cards just block it ok

On July 27, I received a call from this number 202-622-3000. My daughter answered the call as I was not home at the time.  The caller abruptly hung up when she said I was not home.

I was called by  this # 202-622-3000 and was told it the tresurey dept and that there was a judgement against me.o I hung up scam

Received call, stated he was from Dept of Treasury regarding law suit against me for fraudulent taxes. I said who are you and
he repeated,  asked my attorney's name. i said this is b.s., send me email..He said F__ K You and hung up....

Just got a call from "department of legal affairs" saying there is an enforcement action against me today. lol. I have to hand it to them, he's not a bad actor. But please guys, don't take this seriously. These guys are SCAMMERS. I knew he was a scammer and to prove it I told him to hold on the line, the guy didn't even wait for 2 minutes. ( i wanted him to hold for an hour to teach these guys a lesson)  I'm a professional tax preparer and i work for a government agency. If this was truly an enforcement action of any kind, they(we) would send a letter first. Have a blessed day and don't let these guys scam you.

There are numerous telephone and email scams in which individuals claim to be employees of the Treasury Department. These scammers often state that they are from the “Department of Legal Affairs,” offer grant money in exchange for you wiring a small payment, or threaten to arrest you within a short period of time unless payment is made. Do not provide personal information or payment to these individuals.  Their actions are crimes under Titles 18 and 31 of the United States Code, and the Treasury Office of Inspector General is working to stop them.

If they claim to be from Treasury, report  it to OIGCounsel@oig.treas.gov with a description.  If it was a phone contact, include:
the exact date and time that you received the call(s)
the phone number of the caller
the geographic location and time zone where you received the call
a description of the communication.

If they claim to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or it is about taxes, report it to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at:

Received call from this number (202-622-3000)  SCAM.

this guy kevin keeps calling telling me he has money for me to pay off back taxes and wanted my ss and address  I said take a hike 5 times he has called last one I took a whistle and blew into his ear these are big time scam people he called me a stupid old lady I said nope I am a very old lady who knows you are a rip off this was before I broke his ear drum

I received a phone call from the U.S. Department of the Treasury,  they asked for me with my nickname, voice was a foreigner and told me that the Sheriff had put out a warrant for my arrest for TAX FRAUD, and was I going to obtain an attorney, if not I was going to Jail immediately, it came from a Washington D. C. area code, I asked for what and what year they had no answer so I hung up deciding that it was a SCAM.

again I am so sick of some boob trying to pawn off "this is the treasury depart" you would think these dummies are using a caller id that says treasury  depart " and the amount of complaints that someone would take heed of the potential of harm to anyone who actually pays attention to these foreigners trying to scam honest people. scam scam scam

This is 3rd call.  It is a scam.

I got a phone call today about the same case number. Raised an eyebrow when they said they sent two letters (they didn't) and that I needed a lawyer not a CPA and that they didn't have my tax return with my CPA's info. Also, they didn't call the # I give out. Googled the case number, and here we are. Scam.

Caller said in foreign accent she was agent for US Treasury. Told her to speak English next time and hung up.

These low life's called my very elderly
friend and attempted to extract the same amount from her. Fortunately, I was there and took the call.... These are brazen crooks praying on the elderly and the uneducated. It would seem that there should be a way to stop these types of calls.

There is a way-get a call blocker and use it.

Called just now at 1155am. "Treasury Dept" on caller ID.  Did not answer.

Call your Congressional Representative everytime you get one of these scam calls.  I just called both the Capitol Hill Office and the local office explaning the details and for them to Google the phone number of 703-622-3000 to research this website and this number.  Not to mention all of the other websites out there recording the complaints along with Youtube videos of this and other scam numbers and callers.  I told both Congressional Offices each time I get a scam call, I will call them.  My comment also included to get the NSA on this; these are the new terrorists. Mostly I emphasised these Pakastani's/Indian's know our names, our family members names and addresses.  This is no joke.
