I've received a few calls from this number asking for my dad, and when I told them I was his son, they would demand to speak with him. When I would say that he wasn't around they would hang up.
Today I decided to put the scam back on them, so I answered and when the guy asked if I was Douglas, I replied yes I am. He told me same as all others that he was with Dept. of Treasury and there was a warrant for my arrest, and could I provide him with my lawyers information for mediation. I asked what it was for so I could direct him to the proper type of lawyer. He replied that I had been found guilty of tax invasion. I asked had I been audited or what? He replied yes that I had been audited and there were discrepancies with the information that I had provided. I asked him what years, and he told me for 2003-2007. I said that is strange because they only audit the past three years.  Him having a very heavy foreign accent, said he didn't understand me, and could I speak English.  I told him that I speak perfectly good English and it was obvious that he was the one who couldn't speak English. He began cussing me, and I spoke up and told him maybe he should try and scam someone that wasn't smarter than him next time. He continued cussing me and told me that this is the government and they can do whatever they want and if that's the case it was for 2013-2015 instead.  He called me a few more names and hung up. I think it turned out pretty good :)

Just a call from some b*tch claiming to be from the Dept of Treasury... She said I was in serious trouble due to tax fraud, while she was explaining to me what kind of tax fraud I was being accused, I Googled the phone number on the caller-ID and first site that popped was 800notes.com. I told her that I was a "federal gov't agent" and had been "tracing" the call from the moment I answered the phone and asked her to hold on for 3 more seconds, so I could complete my "f*cking trace". Guess what, the B*tch hang up. I suggest you guys have fun with these tax scammers and talk a lot of $#*! to them while you got them on the line. Or do it the simple way and just not pick up the phone...remember the caller-ID shows "202-622-3000  Dept of Treasury" it's definitely a scam...

"John Smith" from this number (that says US Treasury on her caller ID) calls my 91 yr old mother and tells her she owes debt and they are going to issue warrant for her arrest. Her caregiver got info and case number and then told Mr. Smith it was a scam. He called her a MF B..and then cussed her out. Wow !!!

Received a phone call from 202-622-3000, caller ID-Dept of Treasury.  Person with mid-east accent (India, Pakistan or one of those) asked how I was doing this afternoon, my response was that I did not have time for chit-chat and what did he want.  He proceeded to tell me "watch my language, [***]" and then hung up.

I picked up the telephone and he started his pitch. He gave me a fake ID badge number. He said I owed $3,331. in taxes and that it was a serious matter requiring the help of an attorney. I then asked to speak to his Section Chief.  I then proceeded to give him my ID badge number. I told him that I work in the Criminal Investigations Unit out of 2 MetroTech Center at 100 Myrtle Avenue (in Brooklyn) I also told him we will prosecute him and his crew. He hung up. Yes, that is right. The Service will  only deal with sending out notices usually a CP2000 form (discrepancy notice of something we received but you forgot to put in your tax return (like a missing Form W-2) or rarely a CP14 notice (you owe money on unpaid taxes). They are mailed via Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. If you get a notice, there is a toll free number on the CP # notice that you would call. Usually it is an 800-829-xxxx number (xxxx = 1040) for main questions that you might have.

Another foreigner calling stating he is the Dept. Of Treasury. Told him that this is a SCAM call and he said "You Shut Up" and then he hung up.

Same thing happened to my wife. They are still running this scam (Aug 19, 2016). Really rattled my wife because of how rude and demanding they are. The person had some kind of Indian accent. Not sure what triggered them to call.

They told my wife to stay home because they were sending people to arrest her. They rattled off her address, phone number, full name, etc. When my wife questioned them they became rude and said that she would wish she had cooperated and that she will know their name soon enough.

The Do Not Call list is a joke. Does not work other then to tell any salesperson you are on the list. The IRS scam can be reported to the FTC Federal Trade Commission.

Why would even think that criminals would obey the law? Do you really think the DNC is a call blocker?

This number called and told me there some company I never heard of called me a dumbass and laughed I called number and it says no longer in service

I just received the same call.  Different amount, but the SAME case number.  Stated that they had sent certified mail that of course I did not receive.

Seems that the only reason to have a phone is to be set up for scammers, or to be a scammer. Please report these calls.  They are abusive.

He said we owned money to the IRS but this isn't the first time it happened last year so we knew what we were looking for

yeah me too, got a call from this number (Dept of Treas, supposed), I did not pick up but googled it, it's got scam written all over it.  No one in my family will ever answer this number from now on.

I received the same call. He used the same information about an attorney.
He used the same case number.  He said I was going to be arrested for tax fraud and I would be in jail for 180 days. I told him I  hadn't received a letter from the irs.  He then told me to be at my residence in the morning to be arrested!

I was told i am charged with bank fraud.

The guy that called, verified my address with me, then said the agents were on their way to arrest me, and I said ok.  No agents showed up, but being I live on a dead end, I know all the cars that go up and down this street.  I had a cab, and two Uber cars drive by slow.  They have friends here too, and I hope they try to come tom my door!!  Why did we ever let them in our country?
