Davidrents54@gmail.com is quite clever.  He sent me a rental agreement on a place in Chicago.
I found 4 scammers from the craigslist vacation rental section for Chicago in the past 3 days.
I am booking a hotel!...........

Attached is the agreement and booking form for you to fill and return to me, All you need to do to have the apartment reserved for you is to have the deposit sent to the owner of the apartment Via Western Union Money Transfer Or Money Gram Transfer on he name and address:

Good thing I'm checking here.  I was about to do a immediate booking and this Ben Love guy requested deposit via Western Union.  This scam needs to be reported!

Almost got scammed by jackalex@live.com on a rental in Rehoboth Beach, DE.  The address he provided (27 Brooklyn Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE) was a legit apartment at the beach.  I sent the money next day delivery and he called me at 7:00 am wondering why it wasn't there yet.  His Nigerian accent tipped me off and I immediately canceled the transaction.  If he hadn't been so anxious he would of gotten away with it.  The verbage of his emails was the same as most of the others reported.  Even the contract looked legit.

After reading all these postings and almost being scammed myself by MRS BRILLIANT I want to know

How do you put a stop to her so she doesn't scam other innocent people.

The only reason why I didnt fall for this is because I have too much time on my hand and was able to read up about frauds and scams. It makes me very upset that I now have to start looking all over again for another apartment.

Please let me know how I can contact the police or anyone else to stop this person from doing what they are doing.

Wow.  I came within inches of being scammed out of $560.  Went to Boston Craigslist vacation rentals, found one I liked, good location, good price. "Bob Smith" (name should have been a clue) starts emailing me, pitiful grasp of English, the "contract" was a total joke - I've been a legal secretary for 18 years.  The guy would not provide me with a phone number so I could actually talk to him instead of spending my life reading illiterate, incoherent emails.  And, he would not answer questions.  What really saved me was his insistence on using Western Union.  NO ONE in this country, except Jerry Springer audience members and guests, uses Western Union.  I have never done a vacation rental where couldn't use a credit card.  So, I googled "Laurence Schollenberger" supposedly of Allentown, Pennsylvania, supposedly the owner, and up pops this website!!!!

Same Craigslist scam for a 2 bdrm condo in Rehoboth Beach DE, posted by Jack Alex.  Send deposit via Western Union to Bette Lamb, Killeen TX.

Someone from my office just tried to rent a house in the Hamptons this weekend and the reply she received was from a person that used a fake email address USING MY NAME!  IT WAS THE SAME PERSON THAT SCAMMED ME ON JUNE 30TH AND NOW THE PERSON CREATED A FAKE HOTMAIL ACCOUNT USING MY NAME TO SCAM OTHER PEOPLE!!!!

Yup! Almost just got scammed for a Rohoboth rental, $100/night. Supposed owner was listed Bette Lamb, Kalleen TX. Thank goodness for Google, I found this. I didn't trust the awkward wording or the "get back to me immediately" statement. No more craigslist for vacation rentals UNLESS it's a management company, etc!

I'm renting an apartment in ocean city to Jeramy Ronald  I saw it on craigslist, will be the same scammer of which you speak.
he asked me to send the money by Western Union to.

Same scam! Used the email alias of BRETT ROGOFF but then asked payment to be to Raymod Belcher.  Luckily, Western Union already has this guys name on fraud alert, so our payment was in a "hold" before he got and we got our money back-thank GOD!  Another tip: he emailed us a driver's license, with the name Brett Rogoff.  I'm thinking he stole the license fromt he real Brett Rogoff and is using it to try to seem more legit.  BE CAREFUL everyone!  Thanks for keeping the posts alive.

We were ALMOST scammed in San Diego, CA.  Watch out for the names:  Jack Alex, or Alex Jack (he used both), and Monique Corridori.  The email was jackalex@live.com, and after being pressed he said he worked for comfort Vacation Rental Services.  I couldn't find that anywhere online, and after finding this site I compared the emails and responses we got from the 2 in San Diego and they are exactly the same wording.

Here's to hoping you find this information BEFORE getting scammed.

oh my gosh, i cant belive this.  My name is Maxine Bingham, but i am not the one scamming you.  My email address is supermax20747@yahoo.com.  I met a gentleman on a  dating website and we had been corresponding for awhile now.  I told him he could use my email address for his business on paypal my stupidity. He has also scammed me out of money.  I closed my account on paypal once i found out he was scamming me and reported him to the FBI.  The name he gave me is Sean Jimson Farrow. I am so, so sorry.
