Same as the rest, Medical Alert scammer.

SCAM !!!  Interestingly enough, less than an hour after making the mistake of answering a call from 347-753-9068 (New York City, identified by 800notes as being a computer security scam - they claim something is wrong with your computer and want to download a program), telling them it was a SCAM and hanging up, this call came in, also from New York City.  It sure didn't take long for our phone number to get passed on as a live contact.

A known lesson to be learned again - DO NOT ANSWER these calls!!!  Investigate, report and block instead.

I report ALL of these calls to www.donotcall.gov and yes, I know, it doesn't seem to do anything, but in the long run, it DOES make a difference.  For instance, this past Monday, May 19, 2014, the FCC announced that Sprint was hit with a 7.5 million dollar fine for "Do Not Call" violations.  I also use PhoneTray (see phonetray dot com) to block calls - it's highly customizable, and works extremely well for landlines or land VOIP (cable modem) lines.

 

Some additional info on (212) 662-1393 - a callback goes like this:

Recorded female voice: "The number you dialed is not in service."

Dead silence.

Then, after 3 minutes, a slow busy signal, indicating a dead line.

Obviously this call is NOT LEGITIMATE.  It's purely a S-C-A-M ! ! !

Yankee [***] trying to bamboozle good ol' boys out of their hard earned cash.  Carpetbaggers should not be allowed below the LINE.

I find some of the remarks posted about these ‘faux telemarketer calls’ amusing.  I put together a software program that has logged over 380 of these annoyance calls since 2012.  Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine, voicemail or worse yet answered the call you have just ensured you will get another of these calls.  Maybe not from the same number, but they’ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on.  Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ‘robocalls’) – once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls.  If you have the capability to ‘block’ the number that called – that is the best action.  If you don’t have a blocking option, keep a phone with caller ID close by and simply hit ‘talk’ and ‘off’ simultaneously.  If you really want to block them – there is reasonably priced software that a layman can install.  Of the 380 calls I’ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months.  So the message is simple – blocking works….

They keep calling and I am tired of it

This number calls at least once a week and never leaves a message - must be a telemarketer. I am on the Do Not Call registry yet I get all sorts a calls.

I got this call too -- the caller ID just said 'New York, NY'.  I have VOIP from ITP and they let me block numbers.  I block all toll free numbers, and then all more than one spam callers, and sometimes when they just call me once and piss me off.

Telemarketer - free medical alert system

Received call from 516 220 1244 first but I didn't pick up.   Then 10 minutes later 212 662 1393 called.  I answered and it was the "medic alert for seniors" scam call.

Yepper, got a call from this number @2:09pm 23 May 14 Must be linked to 516-220-1234 some how for it is the same medic alert scam, just a 3 ring hang up, thought about getting a call blocking device, but I'm starting to harrass them back by filing a complaint with the FCC form 1088G. Enought complaints and the FCC will have to get off their butts an do something about these  Robo callers. Going to e-mail this list of phone numbers to my so called congressman and see if his worthless butt will do anything, Hey that's a idea, Wait a minuted, He won't do anything for the people unless he gets a big money in his pocket.

Thank you so much for the phone referral. I have an old Panasonic that only blocks 20 numbers. 250 blocked numbers will be wonderful. I get a minimum of 10 unknown phone calls a day from somebody I don't know, they start at 8 AM and go sometimes till 10 PM. Thank you so much.

Caller ID was "New York."  Presumed telemarketer.

And you can get devices that block up to 1500 numbers and area codes. You might want to look at those also. Most are around 60.00

516-220-1234 and 212-662-1393 same message. so i got the guy on the phone and dared him to call me back again..he did with this number 305-548-8257 this number can be called back so maybe it's real? gonna use the last number to call with gmail about 1000 times see how they like it for  change...i also use nomorobo and it has cut down on alot of calls to my house..had service about 2 weeks now...number spoofing serves no purpose if it is abused by scammers...some blame should go to service providers who enable these scum to bug me.

Senior Medical Alert scam.  I let him talk for a solid 4 1/2 minutes then informed the idiot that 10:24 a.m. in New York is 7:24 a.m. in California.  Notified FCC which was an exercise in futility.  The Feds want to protect us from ourselves but not from scammers.
