- Me tooSame voicemail with an old married name haven't been that name in13 years and never had my ss number under it either is this. Scam
- lenoreJust got the call. Said something about check and bank fraud. I do not have a bank account and have never wrote a check in my life. The first time I called it went to voice mail. So I called back and a woman answered the phone. I told her, " I just received a call from your office." She put me on hold then hung up.
- Concerned CSROk this is getting ridiculous. Mine was also an OLD married name! Where are they getting this information? IS everyone active on the internet? Could this be due to Heartbleed the virus for the internet? Everyone keep up posting if you continue to get calls. Try to find out whatever you can so we can take down these people.

- Elspeth replies to Hilda SantanaIt's a scam. Basically, scammers trying to extort money out of people for bogus debts, debts that have already been paid, or even debts that are still owed - but to someone else.

You may wish to invest in a call blocker also, either device or phone.. you can Google these - many are $60 or less. - AnnoyedReceived a scam call On April 25th 2014 ...message was same as all other who reported the number...
Investing to see all the calls were made on the same day !
What is going on wit our privacy ... And why were we targeted?- Caller: 2145042985
- james replies to Anonymthis number is bull s h i dont fall for it
- AI got the same call from unknown and same message. I believe they are somehow stealing people's info from Facebook as they called for the made up combo name we have for our joint facebook account which isn't an actual legal name.
That was the first red flag that it wasn't legit! - so wrong!I just received the same type of call as all of the above, stating to contact them due to having a complaint on me doing check or bank fraud. They also stated that they were going to contact my employment and that I had till the end of business day to contact them back or it would go to court. Thanks to this site I was able to key in phone number and read what was posted. What has happened to our privacy and where do companies come off calling and making these statements about a person! This is so terribly wrong that they are allowed to do this and get a way with it! When return the call unfortunately no information is given to pursue this issue, in fact it rang and music came on no one ever picked up. On caller ID the number comes up 213-330-0187.. and the call back number given by them to call back is 214-504-2986.

- SmitzWhat dumb dumb's these putz's are! Check or bank fraud? Really?? Hmm...had the same two banks since 1998 and haven't written a check since 2000. Really...if they were at all reputable, they'd say who the f**k they are instead of being wussies and stand their a**es up instead of having a machine call me..
- Caller: FAKE A**ES!!!
- Scammers| 1 replyI just recvd the same call as everyone else has April 28th 2014. Using my maiden name and & saying same thing about allegations for check or bank fraud. Talking about contacting employer. I cant even see exactly what this does as even when the number has been called back from what others have reported they haven't asked for bank info or anything or have just hung up. It seems with only one report was that even brought up. It worries me on if its a call back they need or what exactly they are getting out of this? I am glad this has been reported but hope something can be done to stop this as well.
- Caller: ???
- ZippySame call as everyone else, but didn't even bother to call it back!! This is not how real people do business and if you have an outstanding debt, you would know it because the company will haunt you for at least a couple of years!! Stuff like this is why you need to get your free credit report from the government. Then you'll know exactly what outstanding debts you have. Don't ever give out information over the phone without verifying it first! Good Luck to everyone!

- Alfalfa replies to ScammersThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - MaryCalled my cell phone at 930 this morning, leaving a voice mail without identifying their name or agency, claiming they were mandated to verify employment due to an impending bank fraud case. I blocked the call, and at 1220 the same number called my husband's cell and house phone. With no identifying information, and leaving a message on both my voicemail and home answering machine threatening me to return the call to a different number by close of business today - these call scream scam. We are very aware of our financial situation, and the business practices of legitimate companies. If there is no identifying information - must be fake.
- cocacolagirl28I had this same phone call on Monday. Same information as everyone else, same bs story of check fraud...blah blah. Called Century Link and they have nothing on file for me. But, they have all my information. I've been scammed before, and identity thefted. I worries me that they have my information. What will show up on my credit bureau when they start using my number? I have enough problems, but anyway, this is a scam and DO NOT fall for it!!!!

- CANDIE DETTORREI received a call from this number making threats about calling my employer and taking me to court for check fraud. I assure you I do not even have a speeding ticket let alone check fraud. I researched the number 214-504-2986 and got a bogus recording for a John Lucas. After much research I have seen the number belongs to an escort service in Texas and have reported it to the OFR, Attorney General's Office and Better Business Bureau. These people are idiots and harassing to say the least.

- Smitz againOK that's twice with these fools...by the way if there was any check or bank fraud, wouldn't my bank contact me themselves? C'mon I was born at night not last night!
- Caller: SAME IDIOTS
- nah| 1 replyThis is bull I dont know how these people are getting my number but someone needs to stop it or my attorney will be taking a trip to Texas to knock on this so called company door and tell them they can appear in court for harassment and slander
- irritated| 1 replyKeep calling me and leaving messages stating they are a 'legal' department and that I owe money and there are legal actions being taken. Will never say what it is about until I call back and they tell me the 'Cash Store'. I tell them that I don't owe anything and I have already reported them to the FBI - which I have but they keep calling. They are EXTREMELY rude and will not stop calling! They have used acronyms for their 'company'. The latest one is DNCA. I have been called since 2007 by these people using 888-480-7567, 561-463-8328, 214-504-2986, AND a 202 number. The 'company' names sometimes change dependent on the phone number.
