I was receiving 3-5 calls per day and did not answer, however no message was left either. I tried answering after several days of calling and there was no one that responded. I continued to answer these calls and finally a woman said she was with Department of Transportation and was conducting a survey. I told her I was not interested and please remove my number from their call list. She said there is no call list, their computer random dials phone numbers. I said I was on the Federal Do Not Call list and to quit calling. She said there was nothing she could do to stop the calls and could she call back later for me to take the survey? I told her not to call again as my phone is for my purposes and until they start paying my bill they need to stop calling!

YES!!  I've talked to two people, the first said it was random and politely hung up after I told her to take me off their list.  Then this second lady talked over me and I wound up having to hang up on her to end the call.  I know how to report violations of the DNC list so I think I'll try that.

this call claimed to be with the Dept of transportation, she wanted to know my vehicle's makes and models, my dob (i refused) and my address. when I called the # back to see if it was legit, I got a truck driver who said he never called me, he hung up, I called him back to let him know this was some sort of scam, he chuckled and jung up on me again. I did report this to the local sheriff's office.

This phone number keeps calling

Live in AZ.  To get them to stop I offered to do the survey.  As soon as they found out there was a female in our house over the age of 18, they wanted my wife to do the survey and NOT me.  What...so now my opinion doesn't matter?  They say the numbers are 'random'...BS!  This company calls me 2-3 times a week -- that's not RANDOM.  Today I asked them to stop calling and remove me from their list.  Told me they can't and I told them by law they had to!  

Is there anything that we can do to stop the calling?  I'm just going to start blowing a LOUD whistle into the phone on them from now on when they call.  Either that or being a computer programmer I will write a program that calls them continuously and then I will post it on my website for free.  Then, anyone else who is called and annoyed by them can have the program for free and use it against Westat.  How would you like that Westat?

If you were a legitimate company, you would respect the wishes of people that don't care to do your stupid surveys and be able to remove people from your call list when asked.  You're not legitimate, face it.

I would advise others...DO NOT DO THE SURVEY!  They will annoy the heck out of you...so just blow a loud whistle into the phone.  I bet that will stop them!

The best feature of the internet telephone is to selectively auto call forward back to the origin number, or in this particular instance since they are so rude, to another very annoying caller.

Westat is a legitimate social science research company with its main headquarters located in Rockville, MD. You can find more information about them on their website (www.westat.com). In order to keep from having bias study results, they use RDD (random digit dialing) and do not use a "call lists". If you're not comfortable answering any of the questions in the surveys, you do not have to. The main goal is to gather as much information as possible regarding the study they are conducting the survey for.

Called on 08/08/2008 at 8:30 pm for a National Household Transportation Traffic Survey.  Told them that I did not have time for their survey and was not interested but still keep pestering me 2-3 times a week

Just received a phone call from this number. Young lady seemed to know they were calling a cell phone as the first question asked was if I was driving at the time (should have answered yes). She claimed to be calling from the Dept of Transportation. The next question was whether I was 18 or over. The third question asked if this was my primary phone (or something like that). I replied that this was my personal cell phone and did not like receiving the call. The response was "Oh, you cannot hear me....". I hung up.

I live in NC and have received a call from this number several times, the last time was today (9-08-2008), at 1:15 pm. I did not answer but wish these calls to stop; can you help?

They finally got me after several attempts for US Dept of Trans survey. They confirmed that they reached me on a cell phone, then asked if I also had a land line. When I said yes, they said OK thanks, we're only surveying folks who have only a cell phone. Now you know how to rid of them. :)

Sept. 2008    this number is 240-453-2908 does research for the Govt. ex: Education,Gas Prices,Military,Travel etc., im not exactly sure how legit they are because some of the Questions have nothing to do with the Research?? however they send Cash in the Mail to get u to do the Research!!  WTF!!
