- Elsie replies to RickI agree in part with Rick, there are all sorts of sales jobs out there and a lot of people that make their money that way. To call it a scam is off the mark, but ... I do have issues with how they misrepresent themselves. My email said they received my application / resume through Monster but the only contact they had was my email because my phone number did not load properly. Well, if they have my resume they have my phone number, its right at the top. If it is the listing I applied for (which Im not sure it even is) that position was shown as customer service, not sales. I do have a sales background but would not work a commission only job. I need dependable income. As for all of the different phone numbers, hasn't anyone ever gotten calls from someone that works in a large office with a big phone system? When my kids school calls it doesn't even come up the same each time and often just shows the area code. If they leave me a voice mail it says its from 555-555-5555.
- RoseJust got an e-mail from them. They said they got my info from Monster but my phone didn't load properly.
It was from a "Jaime Haehl" 810-956-0279

- JoeI recieved a call about a management opportunity in the Flushing office. The guy I spoke with told me the company was Torch Mark Corp and that I would be paid salary. Well thats all fine with me but when I call the number back it said thanks for calling American Income. Whats up with that? By the way isn"t 248 the Oakland County area code? Seems like crap to me.

- Confused phone callI received a phone call from a Ron Hyde 248-687-7790 x113. He said he found my resume on Michigan Talent Bank but asked me about my previous work experience which I thought was strange considering if he actually had my resume, he would know. I asked him to send me a job description. He said the regional manager who I would interview with likes to go over the job description. He was very interested in setting up an interview with him. He said it was for a management job which is not part of my experience. I asked when it was a sales position or commission-based job, and he assured me it was not. When I tried to research the company on the internet, could not find anything and could not find on BBB. What I did find was these postings. I'm glad I saw these and will call him back today to try to gather more information. My interview is scheduled for tomorrow.

- Katie replies to joketell art to cut his nails!!!! i was fortunate enough to find this thread before calling at all, but your response provided me entertainment as well!!! hahaha thanks. and no don't wear a suit? wow.
- Katie replies to Rickseems like a lot of people who went on interviews or temporarily worked for them have posted here as well and said not to waste your time. on top of the fact they are contacting people off of monster that aren't interested in sales positions. so it is helpful to know that this is a commission only sales position, something in which i would never be interested.
- Katie replies to kanethank you, i just used that!
- Katiethis is the email i recieved, this is not even close to the type of work i do and i know my phone number is good on there, especially since i recieved multiple calls from this company today. after i didn't answer, i recieved a call from "restricted." ooooo mysterious. haha.
Dear Katherine,
Earlier this week we received your application / resume from one of the Job Boards that our company works with, Monster.
However at this time the only contact information that we have is your email address as your phone number did not load properly.
We are interested in setting up a first interview with our Regional Manager at your earliest convenience.
Please contact Kristie Beard on Wednesday at 248-283-5388 x-102 between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm so that we can schedule your interview for our Troy office ASAP.
Sincerely,
Dianna Ray

AIL - Busy beeI received a call from AIL they said they received my resume from Monster.com and that I needed to call them back by 1 P.M. that day. First of all they are calling my home number as which they should and should not expect anyone to call back by 1 P.M. in the afternoon. People who are with out a job are going to be out looking not sitting by the phone waiting for a call plus I already have a job so no I am not going to be able to call them back by 1 P.M. Second I am not going to leave a good job for a sales on commission job. I think this is a scam and that this phoney company is posting the positive response's on this site to try and hide it. I am not going to waste my time or effort calling them back.

** After reading the other posts, I will not be calling them either. I never sent my resume to them and don't like when someone takes advantage of the job boards or misrepresents their company. Thanks everyone! - BobI got a call from that number from someone named Patrick.

- Frustrated...But Encouraged| 1 replySo glad that I googled this company...A little bummed that I won't be getting that "job" that I applied for...I too wondered about all of the mystery, intrigue, and, secrecy involving this company... (Like a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle novel...) How they got my number... What position was available...What were the qualifications they liked in my resume.... Unfortunately, even though I don't have a job, neither, do I have time to waste. I just called about my interview tomorrow and the young lady on the phone informed me that the original guy that I was supposed to see was 1.) not in the office, and 2.) will not be there for my interview tomorrow...Well, you know what...Neither will I...
I'm like most people here...I like my companies that are in business to have the same professionalism that they expect from me, or have a web-site up, or working numbers in the office, or people working there who are supposed to be working there...You know...The little things...Is that too much to ask...? Kudos to all of you who do the "little things" like research... Companies like this are banking on your ignorance for them to thrive...Success to all of you in your job searches...Don't give up...I believe Gov. Snyder will turn things in our favor.- Caller: Mysterious Off-Site recruiter

- Frustrated...But Encouraged replies to Frustrated...But EncouragedOne thing that I forgot to mention is that, according to what I see here in some of these posts, AIL is nowhere in the area where I would normally apply for... My degree field (HR) is so much different from "selling insurance" and no where in my resume will they see anything that could even remotely make me a possible fit for their company. Since I do work in HR, that sent me a HUGE red flag... I know my career interests and pursuits and also know my background... I would never make it selling anything (commissioned only) in this economy... Why don't they "see" that looking at my resume...? Who is minding the store...?
- RealFinancialAdviceI too just received a voice message from a Christie Beard from American Life Insurance. This is not the first time I have received a voice mail or e-mail from an insurance or financial company trying to recruit me to come work for them. What I always find hilarious is that I have no college or university degree for any type of finance education. Like many scam companies, this one promises to give you a couple of weeks training in insurance and investment education.
Why would anyone with a brain want to take financial advice from someone that has had only a couple of weeks training? Here is some REAL FINANCIAL ADVICE, Ms. Beard and American Life, if you really want me to work for you selling financial advice, pay for the tuition costs that it will take, from a WELL-KNOWN AND LEGITIMATE UNIVERSITY, in order to make me a LEGITIMATE AND LEGAL financial adviser. Then and only then will I ever work for your company!!!!- Caller: American Life Insurance
