I have stopped answering calls from numbers I dont know. This is the third time a number like this has called and threatened my husband. First it was "Susan Jones"...very thick indian accent, now it is "Michael Harris"...again very thick indian accent. they call every 3 months or so and pester me for a week. The first time they called was Memorial Day Weekend on a SATURDAY! My Husband answered and they tried to tell him that if we didnt pay them $1900 now that they would have him arrested and put in jail. I told them they were crazy and could kiss my a** if they didnt send me written proof that we owe them $1900. She got all upset and hung up on me. But did not stop calling me for a week, then all the sudden the calls stopped. Up until August when they tried to call me again. My husband then proceded to file a police report and told "Susan Jones", she then proceded to cuss him out and went balistic on him telling him to go ahead and call the cops that she would have him arrested for oweing this money!......they stopped calling until today and I let it go through to voicemail. My wonderful husband has again called the cops and filed yet another complaint. I have also gone through verizon to block the number. 253-343-2083 Is the number that called this time around.

All I can say is if i ever find out who is actually calling me I will call the cops!

Received another Voice Mail from this number. "Gentleman's" (and I use the term loosely) name sounded like 'Gooley Metash.'

He stated that I owe $1,800 on a (of course) unspecified debt, but if I called to 'discuss' the matter, I could 'settle' this account by wiring $750 to an account in Islamabad (Pakistan).  He said that this matter is on the 'legal dockets' in both the US and Pakistan.

I am a US Citizen and resident.  I have visited Canada and numerous European countries.  With all due respect to any Pakistanis or Pakistani-Americans reading this, I could give a rat's behind what is on the 'legal docket' over in Pakistan, since my chances of visiting there are almost nil.

I received another Voice Mail from 'Gooley Metash.'  He again said if I paid a certain amount of money, this 'matter would be settled.'

However, he asked for 64,500 Pakistani Rupees to be wired to the "French Bank of Islamabad."  I did a Google Search and could find no such bank.  64,500 Pakistani Rupees is worth approximately $750 US.

He asked me to call him on this number (253 243 2083) or 'directly to my line in Pakistan.'
    FWIW, it is 011 92 51 282 9026.

I am not sending one red (US) penny to this "Gooley Metash."  He puts the majority of Pakistanis and the Pakistani diaspora to shame.

I just received a call from a heavily accented voice from this number also. left me a voicemail and told me that if i did not return the call, the only thing they could do was wish me good luck.

last time it happened from another number, i harassed them, they hung up on me, and eventually told me to stop calling. i haven't heard back since.

Got quite a few calls from this number that came up as 000 on my cell. The messages from Richard Thompson were so hard to understand. When I did finally call back, a very rude person witha very heavy accent answered and told me I took out a payday cash loan. I told him that I never took out that loan and he needed to send me some paperwork regarding this matter. He refused and said he would only talk to my lawyer. So my "lawyer" called and the guy was so flustered that an attorney called he just started yelling at us. I told this guy to stop calling unless someone who is a supervisor or could speak proper clear English could call me back. He refused to let me speak with a supervisor saying he was the be all and end all as far as my case goes. At first I was very upset, thinking someone stole my info, but after looking at my credit score and calling the police, I'm not worried. I hope no one falls for this scam.

I have had a similar problem with this agency. I gotten over 100 calls in the last two days. I submitted a complaint with my State's Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission. I found a listing on the Washington State's website that I thought was interesting:  http://www.dfi.wa.gov/consumers/alerts/first-cash-international.htm. After I confronted them about my "issue" and asked for written information, they stopped talking to me. I called them about 5 or 6 more times and they hung up and on me. Telling me that they'll see me in court. Well I contacted my lawyer and he said not to worry about until I get a summons. I hope these fools get caught and dealt with.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
    1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
    2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
    3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
    4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
    5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

    Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
    By Leslie McFadden • Bankrate.com
    Monday, Aug. 3
    Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
    The BBB offers these tips:
    •    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
    •    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
    •    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    •    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

Received a phone call from this number and looked it up on this website to figure out that it's definitely a Scam!  It's really scary that they had my name, phone #, my bank info, and knew where I worked!  The caller said he was from Federal Credit Law Firm but refused to give me an address or any proof of the allegations of the Payday Loan that they stated I had taken out.  He got nervous and told me that if I didn't give him my attorney's name and fax number, then all he could do is wish me "Good Luck".  I went to the FTC web site and filed a complaint and then called my phone company to block that phone number.  My next step is to change my bank acct info and put a block on my credit report.  I think I'll call them back and let them know that I'm planning on sending a U.S. missile to their country!  Ha ha j/k!

OMG! I got a call from this number 253-243-2083 talking about they are going to call the local police department and have them serve me an avadavit and a termaination letter telling my job to terminate me. I was so scared! THANK GOD I have a cousin who works in fruad investigation, cause I called her and asked her to run my name because these people said that my information was entered into the fraud system and I was being sued for money laundering for a $300 payday loan that  I never took......what scared me was that they had ALLLLLLLLL my information and even the names of my cousins that I use for references sometimes when I am applying for things. My cousin ran my information and spoke with an investagor in my city and they both told me it was a SCAM and to not worry and that my name was not coming up for any law suit.

I received a call from this number on my cell phone and when I didn't answer they called my job. They told my principal that they needed to talk to me because this was a legal matter. I called them back and they told me I had a law suit against me and I aked him for what. He daid I had borrowed $550 from a Cash International and did not pay it back. He was able to tell me my social security number and he told me who I worked for. He told I need to get an attorney and have them to give them a call. I told him I didn't borrow any money and I didn't see why I should pay for something I didn't get. He told me if I didn't pay he would see me in court.

    Appalled!!!
A man with a heavy indian accent and an american name called me several times from this number: 253-243-2083. Even went as far as contacting my sister and a few people I often use as references. Threatened to send the police to my job, said they would terminate me for criminal activities if I did not pay $589.23 with in 24 hours. Claimed I had an unpaid payday loan and he was a lawyer representing the Payday Loan company. I asked him what is the name of the payday loan company, when did I get the loan, and how much did I borrow and he could not give me any specifics. First Cash International the parent company of over 300 different agencies was what he said. I was told I had to fax an apologetic letter with my debit card information and get it notarized with in the hour in order to stop my case from being filed in the Federal Courthouse. I called the number back today and told him I was with my attorney. He asked me my phone number and I was put on hold. When he came back on the line he said, "Tell your attorney to call this number." CLICK. I called back and it seems like my number was blocked. Hopefully I wont receive anymore calls from these scammers. They were EXTREMELY rude, even told me to shut up. Im nervous because they seemed to have all of my information. Its very creepy and something needs to be done. These men need to be stopped immediately!!!!
