- MySweetwaterExp.| 1 replyI bought a new guitar FOR PERSONAL RECREATIONAL USE from a local guitar store. I needed some small items to go with it (tuner, cleaner, picks, etc..) and found many of these items to be cheaper online. I ordered a $7 bottle of guitar cleaner on Amazon.com. That's SEVEN DOLLARS, incase someone thinks that's a typo. It was sold by Sweetwater, but fulfilled by Amazon. I didn't know or care who Sweetwater was at the time, as I never had issues with my Amazon purchases - or companies who sell through Amazon - in the past. This was nearly 3 years ago. Since my purchase, I've received regular emails, phone calls, and mail catalogs from Sweetwater. I have asked to opt-out at least twice on the phone, and additional times online. If I knew that 3 years on, they would not stop calling, emailing, sending catalogs, being a general pain, I never would've ordered a $7 item through them. I order on Amazon ALL THE TIME. I occasionally get 1-3 emails from the seller to confirm my order, the shipping, and/or to confirm my satisfaction with a product. I DO appreciate that. But what Sweetwater is doing is just too much, considering a one-time, $7, online purchase.
I can understand how this service is valuable to some professionals/guitar enthusiasts out there. However, I generally agree with others who say it should be easier to opt-in/opt-out and buy without hassle, especially for a one-time purchaser like me who didn't even spend $10. It is NOT as easy as telling them no and asking to be removed, as I have already done this multiple times. If every company I bought through online were to do this, I'd have to get a dedicated number, email, and P.O. box just to be able to shop.
As I said, I DO appreciate up to 3 follow-ups, but NO MORE than that if I'm NOT a regular customer. I can see the value of this service for some. However, I agree with the majority here that Sweetwater takes it to a whole new level and does not immediately respect requests to receive no further contact, as I have been trying to detach myself from them for 3 years. Just as the emails start slowing down and I think they will actually stop this time, I get a slew of calls and a whole bunch of new emails and catalogs!
If you intend to buy only a few, small value products that require little to no instruction on use, spend the extra money and save yourself the hassle of being spammed by Sweetwater. If you like the personal touch, this company is for you!- Caller: Sweetwater
- JackReceived a call from Sweetwater today, and they said they had the wrong number. American Express called and said I have a fraudulent charge on my cc from Sweetwater.

- BeastmasterflexSweetwater music. They called because I entered a contest. Spoke with a nice sales guy on the phone and I'm hoping I don't hear from him too often. Emails are fine but I really don't like receiving calls. If they become too much I'll just put them on my "reject list" and my phone will never ring from them again. If you don't have a "reject list" drop your iPhone and get a high end Samsung. Best feature ever!

- MaryGot a call this morning asking for me by name. When I confirmed. He said he was from sweetwater and asked me if I was a musician. When I told him no, he said I had entered their contest. I told him I enter a low on line but did not remember entering theirs. He told me he would call if I won. I then terminated the call. I have entered contests through Woman's world magazine on line, but don't remember that one.

- Siph0rI appreciate the fact that I got a call to confirm my order. The first time it was a handfull of picks, and sort of baffled me someone would call to ensure that is what i ordered. Then I ordered my bass and really appreciated the call to confirm that is what i wanted, and what i ordered.
1, What if I had not ordered it?
2, What if i fat fingered the order?
3, To make the call takes time. Time = money in corporate worlds. Yea, they may make an additional sale, but it has never been a pushy sales call towards me. So perhaps I would need say i dunno an audio cable because it did not come with one, then I would have to procure one another way. The fact they take the time to call and confirm everything shows a degree of someone caring enough to take the time and spend company money to do so. It could be like oh say amazon where it is a complete computer automated system and your SOL if you have a question. For those who complain, perhaps you should go to a vendor that is more computer automated, most of us appreciate an actual person following up on the order.- Caller: Sweetwater music
- drummerJamieUmm.... Yeah, just someone from Sweetwater calling... They check back in from TIME TO TIME, and actually asked if I got their new catalog and ASKED IF I STILL WANTED TO RECEIVE IT, to which I said no. Thus, I haven't received one since. GREAT company, my rep was awesome, and I would order from them again in a heartbeat!

- RSomeone from the company called and said "Hi, is this ____?" so I said yes and then they hung up. It made me feel scared.
- AudioStuffOrdererTypeGuyWow, the flames on this thread are absolutely hilarious!
I just wanted to chime in, lightheartedly, that Sweetwater's approach to customer support is second to none. Myself, I appreciate the confirmation phone call when I order....whether it's fifty bucks or three grand. To me, that means they appreciate the business AND it makes sure that nobody has ordered a bunch of stuff in my name....fine by me!
The also offer tech support and advice AFTER the purchase. Nice. - John G replies to GuitarSlingerWow can you even still see us from that high pedestal you put yourself on?
- MadelineBought one aux cord from them in 2009, quickly forgot about the company, I'm not a musician or anything so I have no reason to do business with them. But they are still calling me in the year of our lord 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Hal| 9 repliesI am a Sweetwater customer and NOT a shill. My experience with them has only been very positive. I do get emails and postal mail from them, but they don't call me. If they call you, ask them to stop. If the calls continue, contact their management and I have NO DOUBT the calls will stop. But if they do continue, then report the abuse to the FTC at 1-888-382-1222.
For those that sling insults & talk trash: You have no credibility here or anywhere else. This site is monitored and complaints about YOUR posts will get them removed.- Caller: Legitimate Music company
- WolfmanJack replies to Hal| 7 repliesFirst when someone comes here and the first thing they post " I am not a shill" I think back to Richard Nixon "I am not a crook". We all know how that turned out, so my guess is that you really are a shill. But let us go with the "I am a satisfied customer" thing. Most people look up a number because they do not know who it belongs to. You knew who the number belongs to but you looked it up anyway. Why would you do that? Why would you come to a complaint site to post a glowing review? You do realize that this site is a complaint site right?
"You have no credibility here or anywhere else" Well maybe you don't have credibility, but all those other people do. "This site is monitored and complaints about YOUR posts will get them removed." Yes it is monitored although not by you or anyone at your criminal enterprise. Their posts have no chance of being deleted, while yours will probably go bye-bye. But I would rather see you get a red stamp instead. - andy replies to WolfmanJack"I did not have sex with that woman"
"Hope and change"
Fits that category too. - MidNYteStorm replies to HalI want to personally thank you for commenting. Your post has convinced me to avoid this company if they should ever call here.
- William replies to WolfmanJack| 1 replyA lot of businesses use various means to look for negative information posted about them on the Internet, and then seek to have that information removed or countered. So its no surprise to me that this business would have workers that try to defend their company, or have employees that are so enthusiastic about their company they do the search for negative information on their own time.
Customers, however, rarely give high praise, except for sites that are geared specifically towards celebrating good service, like for restaurants and bars. - MidNYteStorm replies to WolfmanJack| 3 repliesYet another character that believes they can control what appears on this site.
- GateKeeperGeez....this WHOLE thread is filled with shills and SUPER happy customers who came to a complaint site to tell us how happy they are, and how wrong the irritated people are.
- WolfmanJack replies to William"A lot of businesses " But the poster specifically said they were a happy customer and "not a shill". So that is what my questions were about, and I thought that I had clearly stated that.
- WolfmanJack replies to MidNYteStorm| 2 repliesYes well they are still feeling the effects of the full moon while wearing their cheap Chinese tinfoil hats.
- Yoda1725 replies to WolfmanJack| 1 replyIf they had only bough the name brand, and not the store brand...
