I 100%  agree with you Mr. Big!!!  Sweetwater is AN AMAZING COMPANY.  They should be the poster business for GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!   They do not solicit business...or they haven't with me. They just call to check up on my musical / sound needs.  This company shipped me items that I had ordered in less than 48 hours. The piece was wrong due to MY MISTAKE, and they not only reshipped it to me...but didn't charge me for my mistake...and I got to keep the original piece.  Best part...they send little bags of goods (candies, treats, items) with both packages.

Problem is my friend that most of the local shops have already closed. It's the big box stores that have survived. Sam Ash, Guitar Center... All large corporations now.

Sweetwater just called me to let me know my drum heads had gone on sale a few days after I bought them, so they were refunding me the difference in price. They were also following up to make sure everything arrived in good condition, and that I got everything I ordered. I don't know how you can find fault with a company that cares about customer service, because it is really a rarity these days.

And no, I don't work for Sweetwater. Just a happy customer.

In an industry where apples to apples items are usually are the same price at all online retailers, what makes any one of them stand out to do business with if it's the same product? Simple: Customer service!!!! I have only been contacted by one person at Sweetwater- Ian Roegels. When he calls he is completely familiar with my order and lets me know if everything on it is in stock and if not how long it will be before it is and offer substitutes and other related items I may have forgotten to include. It is by no means "High Pressure". I am made to feel a very important person to them and not just an invoice number. Personalized service on the internet is practically non existent.  I can't help but feel that the vast majority of the negative comments here are from people that can't possibly be pleased. I also believe that the good people at Sweetwater would be a lot happier if they had never done business with these malcontents in the first place, but of course professional decorum dictates not saying so. I have a local Guitar Center just a few miles from my home and like to check in on their used equipment from time to time. I recently found 2 Tama cymbal stands in exceptional condition for $24.99 ea. I took the stands to the counter failing to notice at the bottom of the tag "Available Oct. 03". I was told they have to hold used equipment for 30 days before selling in case of theft. Makes perfect sense, especially for high value items. I made my other purchases and said I'd be back on the 3rd. Turns out I went back before that for something else and when  I went into the Drum Center I noticed the stands were gone. When I asked if anyone knew where they might be I was told that they had been sold the day before. I can only assume that one of the associates had tipped off a friend as to their availability and they got snatched up. That is the last time I will ever step foot in a Guitar Center or visit their web site. I will also make it a point to relate this incident to anyone who may be in the market for anything they may sell there. Will they miss my business? Of course not but I will feel better not doing business with a company that allows such disreputable tactics. And that folks is the difference between putting the customer first and not just grabbing their money with the "If you don't like us take your business elsewhere. We don't care"!!!!! Most any online retailer will have the option of being contacted (email) when an out of stock comes back in but having Ian call and let me know and if I still want the item, expedites the order. You don't like that kind of attention? Your solution is simple but don't be surprised or disappointed when in the event you DO need customer service you are treated as just an annoyance, and they will "See what they can do". Be careful what you wish for.

They do not stop calling. My son is 17 and has asked them time and time to remove the number and they call and call.
Good job to those that have been fortunate to be removed. He has not.

I've been buying pro audio and on-stage equipment from Sweetwater Sound for nine or ten years. I get a call maybe once every six months to touch base about some equipment I was previously considering, or a project I'm working on. They take good notes, so they don't waste my time. They might remind me they have a sale on an item I was looking at.

The answering machine message they leave are concise and polite. They are a good company, and if you tell them to call less or not at all, they will comply.

Local music stores hire locals. And locals have very limited knowledge where most of their experience comes from being a DJ, or owning a karaoke company or maybe, at best, they headlined their high school dance and are still talking about it. They all get their gear from the same place and I prefer someone to call me every three months to check in on the gear I have purchased and see what struggles I may be having. And you don't have to buy anything when they call.  My associate has never called me and asked me to buy something.

Great company. My husband orders items from this company, they have great prices and are very polite. Will not call you if you ask them not to. They are only following up on sales to see if you are satisfied and can be of any more help to you.

I love the fact that Sweetwater call me periodically. Their sales reps are among the best of almost any company I have dealt with. Their after sales service and checkup to see that everything went well is a credit to the company and others could do well to follow their lead. They are knowledgeable, and where they don't have an immediate answer they will research it and get back to you.

They'll call from time to time to see if you have any needs. There is no problem at all if you don't and I often have a great chat with my sales rep.

Their prices are very competitive and I have never purchased anything from them that I have regretted. They always throw in some candy in the box too which is a nice touch. Excellent company. So, yes, they do call from time to time and I always appreciate their calls.

When you purchase from them, they assign a sales engineer to you - someone who is usually a music professional in some manner  themselves and appreciates what you need as a customer. You get the same person each time you call if they are available, and if they are not at that particular moment, they will follow up to check that the order went OK or the inquiry was resolved.

If for any reason the sales rep moves on, the new one will call to check in. I find that to be great customer service too - the new person getting to know their customer base.

Sweetwater also maintain an online database of music gear tips in many areas that has helped me out on a good number of occasions. All-round great company, and Mitch Gallagher's quick videos are often very helpful - both for introducing new products I might be interested in purchasing and as general information.

I have no problem with them calling me. None.

One other thing. The reason I even bothered posting here at all is that I got a call today on my cell and the number wasn't in my cell phonebook but I wanted to follow up. (Why did I need to check? Because I usually get those calls on the landline. However, I was deep into a mixing session today on a track I'm producing and had unplugged the landline to avoid being disturbed. So, when I saw the unknown number on my cell later, naturally I checked on it, and 800notes popped up as the first Google search.)

I was surprised enough at some of the responses here that I felt it warranted saying something.

As a followup I wrote an email to the sales engineer who called me today (he also emailed). I almost never write emails to sales reps otherwise, but I'm happy to keep in touch with the new one (it was a changeover) at Sweetwater.

Just checking this number when I received a call. It's Sweetwater, not a telemarketer. They call occasionally to see how we're doing with equipment we've purchased. They are awesome and stand by everything they sell. When we needed support (we're working musicians) they were right get on top of it, we didn't miss a beat. Love this company.

I do business with this company on occasion.  They may call to followup to see if an order was okay,  Then, maybe once every couple of years, they might phone to see if they can help with anything else.

If that bothers you, maybe you've gotta lay off the coffee,
  • 0
Wow, you need to be on meds.  Talk to your doctor.

Then, maybe have your phone disconnected.

OH Well, so Sweetwater called. Just politely say "I'm busy" and go on. As a past customer they like to touch base with you. How bad can that be?

Lighten up brother..if you talk to these commission hungry sales associates, they will give you discounts that you cannot get any other way ! Its not a cult , nor is it that annyoying....I saved several hundred $ on a bulk case purchase that would not have been offered if I didnt ask..........they call once a month or so, its usually a nice chat, no pressure what so ever......
