Hello,
I received the same exact same email from "Jen Garcia"!  After the death of my father, we had to sell some stuff and she was supposed to buy a recliner. She never mentioned the recliner, she kept referring to it as 'the item'.  My husband kept telling me that it was a scam and I just thought I'd give these people the benefit of the doubt. I feel so stupid! Thank you for this blog, I would've probably gone ahead with the transaction if I hadn't ran into this.

Everything written about Jenny Garcia and everyone else has just happened to me as well.  I actually did take the check to the bank and cash it and actually was silly enough to send the money.  Only thing is, that the money was actually sent back to me and I have all of it back in cash.  So, I haven't lost any money here.  

Guess my next move is reporting it to the police?

I received this same message, but from Jennifer Garcia, and she is deaf...and I thought it was legit.
I have received a check for over $2,000 and then got nervous.  I am not going to deposit the check.
THe check was written from  legit Offshore drilling company, as far as I can tell.

I am trying to find out to whom I report this.
Can I just shred the check, or must I return it?

Did you report this beyond to Craigslist?

Any advice?

Just happened to me.  I was selling a $200 piece of furniture.  They said they would send a movers fee, i assumed it would be like $300 to give to a mover.  Instead i recieved a check for almost $2500.  I emailed saying I couldn't cash and they got less and less friendly.  I am not cashing the check.  I will be saving it to show the police if they harass me.

I WILL PROBABLY NEVER SELL ON CRAIGSLIST AGAIN.  This was my first and last attempt.  Too bad that these people have to ruin it for everyone.

I got all this same info from this same person. I have not heard from her since I told her, if it is in fact a her, that I verified with said company the check came from and it is a bad check.

I got the same reply to something I was selling on craigslist, from the same person. After I called the company in which the check was supposedly drawn on this is what I said to said person and I have not heard from them since. This was the last email that I got from her and that I sent to her, but all the emails that everyone here got from her I also got. Whatever this scam is it is not just towards us it is towards the company Diamond Offshore Drilling Company also.



Well, I took it upon myself to call them and ask them about the check and about your employment. Please do not contact me any more regarding the purchase of this sofa. I have found of that this check is not a good check and  that you do not work for Diamond Offshore. Please do not send anyone to my home I will contact law enforcement. The fradjelent check has been destroyed.

I notified the Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc. legal department.  They asked me to fax or scan the FedEx airbill and the check to them so they could notify the FBI.  I very strongly suggest that you do the same.  Diamond Offshore Drilling's phone number is listed on their website:  http://www.diamondoffshore.com/

Aha The first e-mail I got was ...are you still having sales?. and i repled... and then the rest of the stuff that you all received.

On the next e-mail, I knew is a scam so I found this forum by googling the e-mail address and put the e-mail as the title and a message that's a scam on CL...I am sure they may falg me, but I am afraid there may be more of those, please list all these e-mails on this forum.... no one is going to ask you for stuff like that on CL ..... plp shop different on CL and I have been using it for years, never wire back transfers, it's all cash!!!!.
