They call my home so many times and do not leave messages.  How can you straighten out a bill if they do not leave a message?  And when I called them and informed them they were not sending letters to the correct address the rude woman on the phone kept saying I was not cooperating.  How can I not be cooperating when I am giving them the correct address.  I refuse to pay them.  I am paying the original creditor!

I feel this number is a scam.  they called me three times today (i do not answer numbers i do not recognize) not once did they leave a message.  in my mind any legit business would leave a message regarding what or who they were calling for or about, or even an automated message requesting a call back.  i understand that some laws prevent information such as debt or sensitive material from being left on a message machine or without legit knowledge that the reciepient is the correct person, or i can surmise as much.   but to leave no message at all, and calling three times in one day when i have never seen this number and have never lived in or known anyone from Chicago makes me wary.  even for a debt collection agency, should they claim to be debt collectors, this is strange.

And what if that person really owes the debt? I have a scumbag holding out close to $50,000 in default for 9 months on me. I'm considering using these guys. I want them to do everything in their legal power to secure the debt I'm owed. I feel sorry for the people that have numbers that may have been passed on but collection agencies will usually stop once they realize they are calling the wrong person. However a debt is a debt and people should pay their debts. If they did companies like this would not exist!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seems like all I hear on here is how to get away with not paying.

Find out who you owe the money to they are attempting to collect for . Then pay the company not the collector . Several collection company's can be trying to collect for same debt . Best and safest way is to just pay the original lender . And when you make arrangements to pay the debt just let the collection agency's know you have made arrangements to pay the debt so they need to stop calling you . I'm not saying they will stop but to be safe and know your debt is being paid and not filling someones pocket it's always best to pay the debtor not the collection agency .

I keep getting calls from someone who doesn't speak very good english when someone does answer.  I do owe a debt to Orchard Bank but have been unemployed for two years, I am in the process of losing my house and my car, they keep on calling.  I have tried to block them from my cell phone but to no avail.  I did finally get a full time job, starting next week, and I will pay my debt directly to Orchard Bank, They call at least 12 times a day and I never answer because I don't know recognize the number.  DO NOT PAY A THIRD PARTY COLLECTION AGENCY, pay the creditor directly.

    Good experience getting calls stopped:

I was getting 5+ calls a day.  My new cell phone number was previosly owned by someone who didn't pay his bills (scumbag).  I called the MS Gerald 800 number, 800-265-3796, pressed zero for the operator, and explained that I am getting a lot of calls from their company.  They asked for my name and phone number, and then fixed their account information right away.

If you're getting these calls but you're not the person who owes the money, you should be able to clear it up pretty easily.

I got a call tonight from this number. I don't believe them to be a true collection agency. If they were it would be easier to get a hold of them. I don't have any outstanding debt for them to even be calling me.

Do not pay any collection agency!! The easiest way to find out if you have a debt is to run your credit report and then pay the debtor listed on the report. Many of these companies try to collect old OLD debt (well beyond the statute of limitations).

Everytime this number calls me they hang up as soon as i answer. The name showing up is M S Gerald. Finally got tired of it so i called the number back. They put me through with 3 different people before a man answered the phone. As soon as he said "Can i help you" I yelled in the phone "I want my number off your database now!" He said wow, they must be calling you like crazy...I said not only that but they keep hanging up when they call. Gave him number and he asked if i knew some one and i said no. If they call me again i will make sure i get my point across and they will wish they had never got my number in the first place!

I just put them on call blocking. I have better things to do than sit around wondering what they are calling for. Most of these outfits are calling from a list of bad debts they find through the credit reporting agencies or bad debt databases where they 'bid' for the debt.
Many times, if you have recently gotten a new phone number, they are fishing for information and won't believe you're not the person they are looking for. I had a clinic, social services, a gynecologist, a dentist and numerous bill collectors calling me for some woman that I never met. It took me three changes of my phone number to finally get one that hadn't previously belonged to such a popukar person.
Another thing i would strongly suggest if you ARE dealing with bill collectors is to record all of your calls and keep a call log. Report any violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to your state's department of commerce or whatever entity licenses out of state businesses. In my state, they will suspend the license of the collector for a minimum of six months and apply a fine of $1,000 per violation to the collector if they get enough complaints. I did this ten years ago with a collection agency from Kansas. It cost them a heckuva a lot more than the $1,100 they were trying to collect and the fun part was that I didn't owe the bill to begin with.

    Sees It Real
They are obviousy another one of those Scavenger companies that tries to collect on owed debits they bought for mere pennies on a dollar Thats why its not unusal for them to Reduce the amount owed if Paid right then during the Reduced offer Making it seem like a Sale that expires right after call is complete So the person will be Encouraged to act right now, right then and the heck of it Is the Debt was never even owed to them in the first place ! Then what happens is Rep, Agent actually just a front line call center person makes a percentage of What ever is collecte, Now on another link its implied that in someway they have an association with Porfolio Recovery thats what a different link indicates.
