    Received same phone call, on two different numbers. I am concerned that they have this information. I am not registered anywhere, that could reflect my name on these numbers. Who ever is calling me has my personal information. I am worried that they might miss use it even further.

    Place fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notify your bank and employer. Your identity may have been stolen. If you have ever done business online with anyone (particulary the IRS and online payday loan companies), your personal information is right out there for hackers to steal and sell on the internet black market.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

    I share the same name as my father and received a message from this number threatening one of us to call regarding a "criminal act against a restraining order". For one, this message was left on my father's home number who has been dead for over 5 years. I do not appreciate threatening calls and DO NOT have any restraining orders against me nor does my father. SCAMMERS SUCK

    I just received a call from these "Global Litigation Group" people at work. It was a recording with a case # and my name.  Something about a restraining order. First I called the number, the lady I spoke with ask for the case #, I gave her the one from the recording and my name.   That is all I gave her!!
    She ask for the last 4 of my Social Security #. I REFUSED TO GIVE IT TO HER UNTIL SHE GAVE ME MORE DETAIL SO I COULD CONTACT THE AG OF NC AND THE FBI. SHE REFUSED AND SAID THEY WOULD SEE ME IN COURT.  I contacted the North Carolina Attorney General's Office,

    I then called the FBI in NC and the lady I spoke with said that since it was over the phone to contact the " FTC" Federal Trade Commission @ 1-877-382-4357 and report the activity.
    CONTACTED THE FTC.  They were very interested in what I told them.  Gave the FTC rep. all the information I had.

    REMEMBER TO " NEVER " GIVE THEM PERSONAL INFORMATION!! NOT EVEN THE LAST FOUR OF YOUR SSN.  NOTHING!!  FILE YOUR COMPLAINTS RIGHT AWAY!!

    Also just received a recorded message concerning litigation with a restraining order attached to it. I thought to myself ,what the heck is this all about. Called the number and got someone on the phone. Gave them a ref. # and she proceeds to tell me I owe from 7 years ago when I had be divorced and went through a bankruptcy. Told the lady it was already settled and she said do you have documents proving it and I said yes I do. She then said well we don't, see you in court ..good luck. I called back again trying to get some more information a guy this time answers and says well it's been reported you refused to pay and hung up on me. Called back a 3rd time and my number was blocked.
