I'm in Phila,PA  Caller hung up on my answering machine. Caller ID: International

I keep getting calls from this number.on my private and unlisted line.  All have accents and all claim to be from GE trying to give me a free security system because only 50 in our entire state will be given away.  I listened for fun, knowing that there would be a catch and there was of coarse.  I asked to be removed from the list and have recieved more than 10 calls to date.  That week at a luncheion with a bunch of ladies, we all apparently won free security systems.  Hmmm?
Another call same number was doing a survey for a gas company.  We live the in the country and have no access to a gas line.

I keep getting phone calls on my unlisted and private home line from this number.  They want a survey sometimes, other times they want to install my free security system and claim to be from GE.  I have asked repeatedly that they take me off their calling list and they still keep calling, several times a week.  Tonight I got 2 calls in less than 5 minutes.  I asked the foreign speaking guy from GE how he got my number and he hung up on me after he repeated my unlisted number. I have young children and am a very busy mom, I don't have time for these calls and I don't appreciate them calling when they are all in bed either.  We have had this unlisted number for over 20 years and never have had a single soliciting phone call on this line til the past 2 months and usually from this number.  I want them to stop, that is the purpose of being unlisted.  This phone number has been guarded well over the years, our credit cards do not have it, nor do the hospitals, insurance companies, banks, ect...., we always use our seperate fax line # or don't list it at all so it has not been retrieved legally.  Oh shoot, one hosptial did have it recently but we have since changed it to our fax number as well after they sent a bill to a collections agency and they hounded us for a $20 bill daily until the hospital found our reciet.  Maybe the collection agency is selling our number.

They called me today at 3:40pm while I was doing dishes answered the phone using the speaker phone button and said hello and they said hello and then I was standing right in front of the phone and said HELLO again and they said hello again then hung up. Must his hearing aid needs new batteries because I know my phone works fine.

at 9PM tonight, second night in row, got a phone call from a rude indian speaking man.  lots of noise in the back ground like other telemarketers.  I asked  him how he got my  number and he said from his database.  I asked how my private, unlisted, number on the do not call list was on his database.  he got pissed off and just before he hung up he told me he'd keep calling.  Call Intercept will stop that.  Last night they told my  husband they were doing a national survey to update their records and wanted personal data.  NO NO NO!!

when I answered I could hear someone talking in the background but they would say anything to me--I hung up and called back but it said my called could not be completed to this international number

Next month you will get calls from someone else trying to sell goods or services, or that may be part of a scam.  It's good to communicate among ourselves to establish a pattern but then do something proactive to deter or prevent future calls.

Log on to the Federal Trade Commission's "National Do Not Call Registry" and register your home and cell phone numbers.  It doesn't expire.  Some surveyors and charitable or political organizations may still get through but you can handle these individual situations just as easily.  Filing a complaint is easy too.  This might be for an business or organization with which you have done business in the past but you dont want them to keep calling.

It's very easy, it works, and it helps other people because the FTC will do something about it.  They will have a website or a phone number shut down within hours if it's a scam.  It's a very good resource for many things.

Thank God for caller ID. It showed up as Rhode Island call. They didn't leave message. Anymore I never answer my phone unless I reconize the number.

Got a call from this number just now, saying I had won some contest for a free security system. I asked how I won a contest I never entered, and she said that they were selecting numbers at random from the area. The woman was obviously reading from a script, and sounded like she had never done any sort of phone sales work in her life. I started to laugh (I couldn't help it) and she put me through to her "supervisor". I told him I wasn't interested and hung up. Tried calling the number back and it's a non-working number.

Kept getting a call from this number and today I finally answered it.  I got a guy who sounded Indian who asked me if I had smoke detectors in my home?  I replied that I was not interested.  He insisted I take his safety survey.  Again I insisted I was not interested.  He got angry and replied that he will keep calling me until I do the survey and hung up!  I called Comcast and they instructed me on how to block this call from my phone which I have done as I know this creep is going to call at 2 a.m.!

they have called here three times in 2 days. Each time I pick up the phone and merely hang it right back up.  They do NOT TAKE THE HINT!!!

Called my cell phone, (on all no call lists)  7 times in 6 hours last Tuesday.  Final answered it, told them to stop and it did.  Today the started on my wifes cell phone--- after the third in an hour she did the same.

Same as above but i wanna add a few things.I have been getting these calls for at least 6 months and NOTHING works they keep calling and this is not the only number they use here is just one other 402-982-0440 and they call themselfs Safe gard america i have repoted them to every company i can so all this is just a waste of time.Best thing to do is not answer!

Same as the rest of you, no msg left on machine, Rhode Island call, picked up the 2nd time he called, didn't say anything, old guy is like hello, hello and I hung up, hopefully won't call back!

Actually you people need to listen better to the person calling.  He did not say he is from GE he said he was from Fering Electronics and would like to give me a GE security system.  I answered the call because they have been calling me since October of last year.  After 4 calls today within 2 hours I figured I would try to end this. He told me several times that they have selected people from this area and this phone for a free GE security system. And I kept telling him that I already have security service from ADT.  He started to ask specific questions about my ADT system and the monitoring and I aksed him...... Your not from ADT and your asking me very personal questions about my security system, do you plan on robbing me?  He then very quickly started to backtrack and do the uba er um oh no no no thing.  I then told him again that I already have ADT and have no plans on changing the service. He then apologized and said he will not bother me any further.  I hope and pray that after 7 months of this they are now through with it.  If not I will file complaints including homeland secuirty.  There has to be something illegal or at the very least very unsavory about people randomly calling you up asking confidential questions about your life and safety gear.

Call came in @ 3:05PM on 4/16. The answering machine kicked on and the other end left no message and hung up. Caller ID says just Rhode Island with the 401-401-0125 number. Rudeness abounds, my friends.

Received a call early this afternoon. They didn't really leave a message — just a slight pause and whoever was on the line hung up. Caller ID registers "XXXXXXXXXX   RI".

Received a call from this number, did the strange fire survey. Then tonite i was looking at my online bank statement and there was a 29.99 charge from a different # that has never called 866-865-4085. BE AWARE. I am having to dispute the charge with my bank, my card is canceled, and it is a pain in the  a$$.
I wonder if they are connected.

11:47 AM Call from "XXXXXXXXXX RI" at 401-401-0125. I did not answer and the caller left no message. I tried to call back and got a constant beep as if the line was out of service.

They called at 5:22 and I did not answer.  No message.  They called the next day at 1:34pm.  I did not answer and again, no message.  First time, the caller ID said "International" and the second time, it said Rhode Island.  I live in RI so that is strange.
